  1. Lol well I think I did see a correction. Only 2 days now in port .. but dont you be late embarking. I'm leaving Saturday and boarding allure sunday. For me its about the ship, same old ports. But I havent been to some ports like Bermuda. If I booked just to see Bermuda which I plan on, I'll be disappointed. They can skip my western ports. I think it depends on the ports how I'd feel. I dont really blame them. I think I'm on next week with all newbies. I need to get away but not great timing. That's another thing newbies have to learn is it's hard to change dates last minute. But rcl can and will. Just get me out of here. Down to the wire for me getting ready, so it's hard to read so many are sad to miss ports.
  2. Imo it's more of a bribe to keep people from cancelling. I lost a port last year and also got 0. Nothing to do with being nice. Rcl wants their money. Right now these cruises could have been purchased on the cheap .. as we go further into more expensive cruises I expect more $$$ offset. Airlines are saying earnings will be a bit lower and the cost has dropped a bit. Rcl wants another blow out earnings. It's about the almighty dollar.
  3. I can still understand and sympathize with them and feeling disappointed. Going to florida instead of Canada I'd be bummed.
  4. People over there screaming just as much. Menu cut supposedly to get it out to you faster and hotter but every cut royal pax go nuts. I did think the food was better and hotter. Lobster is limited to 1 maine lobster. They are not twice as big. I'm not sure I can taste the difference between a maine and caribbean lobster. You can have as much as you want on royal but they tried to say one plate at a time. I had 2 different men at my table about start fights who wanted strip steak and lobster on the same plate. You can order all the entrees you want but they tried to say one at a time. Talk about pushback. I think royal pax complain a lot louder and dont let it drop. I felt bad for the waiter. Or it's someone wants to eat their spaghetti and meat together. I think royal gave up. People I've seen were standing up shouting at the waiter. Also the classics are mixed in not served every single night. And once a day housekeeping... people are never ever going to book royal again over it. Imo the pax on royal make you guys seem like happy campers. Personally I'm looking forward to guys burgers on dream lol. And white pizza. Sometimes the grass is just different, not all worse or all better.
  5. You must gamble a lot. I'm considering upping my gambling time as I never get offers. I for sure couldnt resist a almost free cruise. Book em Dano! Why say no.
  6. Cons now you could have to be moved and refared if the price went up. You are in a 3 pax cabin with only 2 pax. Even if not moved they could refare you. Ask .. depends rate code, when is cruise, are you before or after final. No one here can answer without information. Call and ask. If they no show their fees and taxes are automatically refunded.
  7. Here is a ongoing thread what they got with their status match. Dinner, cheaper drinks etc.
  8. MSC and virgin I've read do status matching, royal and celebrity do status matching from one to the other but not to carnival. I do get free laundry on rcl lol. Priory embarkation has dissolved on rcl, they sit us together and call by loyalty, after VIP, D+ is next. Pinnacle pretty much gets suite perks and boards VIP. Celebrity i get their perks when I status matched, not pts, the equal status. I cant wait for free wifi my whole cruise. I'd willingly give up free laundry for this. I get 2 free days now. Pinnacle over 200 pts away for free wifi, priority boarding etc. I also get 3 amenity picks, like 3 bottles of wine. As a solo to me laundry isnt a big deal. Try virgin or msc. I think virgin said the status matching ends this year.
  9. Dont see this addressed but for the flu I am not sure they will quarantine you. I got that respiratory thing last dec on royal and medical sold me cough drops and nightquill but did not quarantine me when I tested negative for covid. I would guess it's at the direction of the ship medical how its handled for flu or respiratory. I skipped the shows and Mdr but unless I tested positive for covid thru dont waive delivery fees for food to the cabin all the time. A friend did got confined to his cabin. Similar symptoms. I'm not sure flu is a cut and dried answer.
  10. I would probably pick 2477 which has a aft corner view. 2473 has a side view but is larger a bit. I had one across the back and paid extra to get that ov ..2476 similar and was very disappointed. I'd read how great that view was. I took it out of new orleans which also was a issue to me. Woke me up the aft shake went from annoying to really bad like the ship would fall apart as we hit the mouth of the river where it hits the ocean about 1 or 2 am. Shaking so bad it woke me up. Idk if the back of splendor shakes that bad, but I wouldnt again book that cabin. View was good, carnival ships often have a aft shake I've been on. But those ovs across the back are bigger. One of your choices doesnt have a window to the aft you posted. Just bigger. Look at the deck plans and as you noted, those 2 are larger cabins.
  11. Just my opinion but I think what you read was a royal post not carnival. Royal allows you to purchase their non alcoholic pkg if you call. Carnival is firm and does not. They dont even have a similar pkg like royals refreshment pkg to choose. Carnival has soda or alcohol, just those 2. Nothing in between. I see posts all the time where someone is saying they are sure this or that is the policy when it's the other line. Just like carnival folks do a royal cruise and insist there are no pkgs allowed out of Galveston day 1. Royal has them. The lines are so similar people read stuff and mix them up constantly. I've never read carnival will budge. Either both take it or none. I agree with the poster above.
  12. The showers and bathrooms are tiny. I cant imagine 3 people at the same time in one. I've traveled with a hc sister and I know on carnival there is a way to order a tiny shower chair thru special needs. She sat in the chair and I helped her wash her hair. I just reached into the shower. For sure 2 of us wouldnt fit in there. The shower chairs are small lightweight cheap plastic they had onboard. Seems like rcl the shower chairs were a bit bigger the stewards brought but still wouldnt be great for someone very large. Not sure without googling how big 115kg is.
  13. They do have them... you can order them thru special needs. Lots of incorrect info posted today. People are just guessing. Contact special needs if you want to try to order ahead. .. though ordering never worked for us. My sister cruised with me and has balance issues.
  14. Actually I have gotten them. We ordered them ahead but never works. It's a very small white plastic chair, not for someone heavy but yes they have them. Ask your cabin steward. I dont have a picture handy but they are small and white plastic chairs. I've gotten them more than once. My sister cant stand in the shower and this worked for us. The showers were hand held I think though I washed her hair for her and think i handed her the wand. Carnival does have these.
  15. No worries about using nonrefundable obc first. .. though it doesnt seem to me they are being generous. You can cash out unused obc in the casino anyway.
  16. Lol my bucket list is Galapagos.. you can have Italy. Or maybe virgin cruises if I wanted to spend big money, agree wouldnt be royal.
  17. I dont have a map but I'm sure google does. The streets are laid out by number and alphabetical. I would stay along seawall .. and walk along that area. There is a trolley but so many will be walking there really isnt a good place to park. Quality inn is at seawall and 61th and inexpensive and not too bad. The pleasure pier is mid sea wall and the center of the hotels and the closer generally the more they cost. Call uber to get to the pier. As low as about $10 but for a bigger car can run more. Its about 3 miles to the terminal, too far to walk
  18. Ah thanks. Yes for me would be a one time upgrade. I've never cruised with 3 in the same cabin. Next time I'll try to get this upgrade. Good time to try mardi gras or jubilee. My next is a sold out journey cruise
  19. As I posted in another thread kve been around for 20 years and never heard of this. They do allow a free upgrade, a one time thing. My current cruise is sold out so I cant, but down the road. The 25 and 50th cruise you get obc for the amount. 25% of your cruisefare .. and be aware if there are 2 of you booked they mean 25% of just your fare. If your partner also wants to use his obc they can also on the same cruise. So for most its 25% off half the cruisefare you booked as obc, not a discount. I too want my one time upgrade .. maybe next cruise I can get it.
  20. There is a free cruise for turning diamond? I hadnt seen this before. Do you have a link? I've seen obc for 25 and 50 cruises but didnt see a free cruise. What are the terms? Thanks.
  21. $75 or $100 obc inside or balcony isnt enough to sit in the port 3 days. That's kinda crazy.
  22. I wasnt paying attention in January either. I broke my wrist badly, had to be set twice so I was in a lot of pain for most of january. 2nd time they put a metal plate in my wrist. The very next morning after my 2nd wrist surgery my mom had a stroke then passed away about 5 days later. I no showed for my own 10 day special cruise i had been looking forward to on radiance. Might have been around july i finally was pulling myself together and telling myself i should make plans to get moved to a cruise port. Even then I felt like it was hard to think about and trying to book cruises around a move I had not yet started kinda hard imo. Finally emailed my TA and cancelled dec 2024 on harmony out of Galveston and booked b2b on adventure for xmas 2024 and a southern april 2025. I would have booked more dates but prices had already doubled. Cant bear myself up, but i am kinda sad it took me so long to be able to think about moving and rebooking and prices had gone up so much. I read how inexpensive adventure was when it first came out. Not so much when I recently booked .. you used to be able to book a older ship for under $1k off season. I'm barely dealing with these prices enough to book for the new ports and ignore the comments how cheap these were when they came out. Hurts a bit when I look back and could have booked so much earlier, just felt disloyal somehow moving on with my life I think. I still want mardi gras and ncl prima and my bucket list is the Galapagos which I'm sure is enough I'm not booking lol. Rcl isnt my world and I was not paying attention. Luckily icon wasnt even on my radar.
  23. The $59 came to just over $70 at check out with 18% added.
  24. That temporary booking is considered a place holder. Have them still go and give them times for all 3 nights. Write down what they want and hand it to them so no questions later. Even if they dont get exactly. And yes if they want chops all 3 nights they can. Any 3 dinners.
  25. I've read it goes into a tipping pool but unless it's really good service they paid a tip, so anything extra in cash of course welcome. I hope they enjoy it.
