  1. I'd bet there will be a lobster night. The app isnt always accurate until you board.
  2. There are bars they can access. Centrum has a bar, it doesnt close to kids. A couple decks up I seem to remember another bar. There are places they can get soda. Just might have to walk further.
  3. @Ourusualbeachcan say if port fees go down before or after final payment what rcl policy is.
  4. I dont think this is necessarily true. I got back nothing. I also have a letter saying it's up to each ship. We first changed from Caymans and jamaica twice to cheaper mexico and roatan ports, my ta said nothing due even though port fees went down.. and then we missed a port .. due to weather and I was again told nothing due. If you have a link saying port fees will be refunded please provide it.
  5. I have a letter from when I emailed a vp saying it's up to each ship if they return port charges to you. They dont have a policy for all changed or missed ports. If port charges go up you arent billed for the difference so if they go down you arent due the lower port charges on this cruiseline. They might but I got back nothing.
  6. My December 10th harmony a inside balcony was $16 less than a inside. Sometimes you see a oceanview balcony for less than other less desirable balconies. Supply and demand.
  7. I was bringing pringles and giving out multiple tall cans. Someone else gave out short cans. Also I've given out bags of candy ..didnt last month. Broke my arm and not adding any extras. Whatever you give out I think telling others just invites criticism. Everyone has their own way they think is fun.
  8. And like me you probably got that $100 obc x many cruises. For me let's say 13 cruises or more so lets say $1300. .. I'm probably down but the obc makes up for the stock up and downs. Hopefully someday it will turn a profit again.
  9. The difference to me between a pvp and a ta is a pvp is on carnivals side a ta takes your side. My ta went to bat for me 3 times during covid, got cancelled anyway but he fixed things where rcl offered something else. My pvp I'm still listed with says she is considered so good she flies to miami to teach new pvps. She is technically excellent. We had some arguments over a few things. Once I boarded without having checked my cabin number. I just assumed it was what I booked. She says it was a upgrade, to me I wanted the bigger cabin I booked. Her stance was carnival has the right to change anyones cabin without notice. I sure think they should have notified me and continue to believe carnival should have notified me. I unpacked in the cabin I booked but started to wonder when a welcome letter on the desk was to someone else. I went out the cabin leaving my stuff inside and shut the door. Went to ask and found out nope the letters werent in error .. my cabin was elsewhere. Then had to convince a steward why my stuff was in the cabin to let me in. Lol I also disagreed how carnival handled hurricane ike and a few things over the years. If there is a issue your pvp may take carnivals side, not yours. My ta is more to my liking presently.
  10. I believe carnival still does Caribbean lobsters. First 2 are free, then $5 for additional.
  11. Sorry but I disagree somewhat. For instance grandeur the food was spicier. Same food I'm sure and same recipes but it was definitely spicier .. tasted different to me. Food does very by ship
  12. I've gotten multiple obc and shareholders credit too. Agree.
  13. My TA answers emails usually within 10 minutes, and hes the one on hold solving issues.
  14. What I had to adjust to when vista came out, first in its class many others also disliked. Now it's more muted. I was used to on all carnival ships walking thru promenade deck and seeing out to the ocean. Vista class closed it up, no more seeing the ocean as you walk along. The comedy club and theater were about cut in half. Now you have to stand in line for the comedy shows and the chairs fill up. I've stood in the back. Theater has poles blocking the view and holds far fewer to watch shows. Dream class has the best spas of course with T pools. .. though yes vista class, Horizon has a new pay area people like that is kinda pricey. I'm not the only one who wasnt in love with vista class ships when they came out. Now I'm mostly over it but cant say I love the changes. Like other lines they turned more inward and less ocean views. Last time my bbq was quite dried out .. not up to usual par. Other food issues besides the inedible steak I was served. I love BLT but every time imo the bread was hard as a rock. Stale. The rest of the sandwich was good. Stuff along these lines is why I switched to mostly rcl. I'm still at 197 loyalty pts on carnival so jan cruise will bump me to diamond on carnival. Not a newbie.
  15. So you made my point. What carnival does well is LUNCH. Not dinner. The places you mentioned a few have breakfast but mainly lunch... I said lunch was good but not dinner on carnival. So you reply agreeing with me? Listing LUNCH places. Mardi gras and its sisters have more dinner choices but not out of Galveston. I couldnt find decent dinners on carnival except pay restaurants. I'm at 197 pts on carnival so not a newbie. I starved for dinner or paid. This is why I changed to mostly rcl out of texas. .. no good free dinner options. I got off radiance last Thursday 3 days ago, and my steaks were perfect. Every time. My lobster was decent sized and my fish and chips the fish was crispy. Every dinner was good. They were running out of some things by the end of the cruise. Vs carnival my free dinners in Mdr were terrible. People on carnival are also complaining about cut backs. It's all lines. But i had a excellent cruise on radiance for 10 days onboard. Quality does seem to vary. I've had some less than stellar meals on both and tastes vary. But I booked the carnival for the better ports. Always a upside. I dont doubt the OP opinion. I had the fillet on oasis in Giovanni and they ruined it for me by putting gravy not garlic butter on it. Couldnt wait and send it back. Rcl needs to ask before assuming which you want. Oasis did the same to my steak in Mdr...put gravy on it without asking. Oasis for me was a bust. Radiance a win. I had the best ever steak on radiance cheers with a officer. On allure what I had was not edible. They need to get quality right every time.
  16. I did a b2b liberty end of march 2022 which didnt have many cheeses. .. your cruise last july probably same issue. We didnt have carrot cake, didnt have cream cheese or some others. I did 3 carnival and the steak was so full of gristle and lack of Mdr dinner choices I quit booking carnival., I just got off a cruise and was pleased with the food 80%. Steak was especially awesome. I have a 14 day carnival cruise next January and have been worried about dinner. I expect to eat a lot of pizza. Lunches were good but not dinners. Dinners were so bad on carnival I did pay restaurants 6 of 7 nights which isnt like me. It's clear quality and what they are short of varys week to week. ..and what someone had months ago probably isnt what is served now.
  17. @Ourusualbeach will know. My guess is because I booked refundable? Here is my receipt from booking onboard. Shows I paid $250 deposit. Idk. Kinda circled in pink.
  18. I paid $250 deposit to book 7 day wonder at next cruise. When my TA moved me to a group rate he had to up it to $500 deposit. I'm solo but pay the same deposit as a couple for a group rate.
  19. Also based on if you book refundable or nonrefundable deposit. Refundable got $76 for couples, $75 obc with solo discount. Nonrefundable for same 7 days was $100 obc.
  20. I too prefer aft to forward. The buffet and dining rooms are aft and I eat multiple times a day and easy pool access. Mid is less motion. My last cruise I was 4 from the front and we hit a lot of motion. All my drawers wouldnt stay closed. Lol. .. a lot of motion!
  21. Unless it's a expensive cabin, my TA has said he doesnt want bookings below $750 total. Just saying this and I dont mind, as he says what little commission he gets isnt worth printing it out and tracking with the IRS. Since yours is 4 days .. there is probably a reason they are offering very little obc. I've seen this in the past. TAs just dont always make enough on cheap bookings it's worth their time. Cruisefare are going up so it's less and less likely to find inexpensive cruises. My next 2 in sept are less .. everything else in my signature is over to way over. My carnival 14 day just keeps going up if i were to book it now. I'm just saying things from a TA point of view. The commission on a 4 day might not be worth their time. ..though idk the amt of your booking. I prefer to book thru him as he makes sure its paid off on time and with rcl certain discounts have to be applied.
  22. Agree with above. Carnival prices categories as the deck is higher. Mid is more than aft and forward. Then up a category generally to the deck above, same thing. I was surprised as rcl prices them by location on the deck. I can find the cheapest in the category on the highest decks. I like this better lol. So the way carnival does their categories is not universal to cruiselines. If not I'd always pick the pool deck or 2 decks below pool deck, but costs more on carnival.
  23. It's not like rcl, both have to purchase. I have not heard of exceptions on carnival. If I'm wrong someone will tell me, but I havent seen exceptions allowed on carnival. ...at least cheers is priced less. I tried it twice but didnt get my money's worth. Wouldnt again but it was worth trying.
  24. I think it's nice he got a choice. Oasis I was not given a choice. He would show up around noon or so at the end of his working time. Never introduced himself. Bella 1 .. he was not up to par for me. Glad to see allure is giving a choice.
  25. Yes and I got moved to one I didnt pick. ..a hc cabin where the twins didnt push together. My pvp said they have the right to move you. The week i was on the doors to walk out in the front of these cabins was locked due to high winds. I'm a fan of the port hole cabins to book cheap if I'm cutting corners, not these.
