  1. And on regal earlier this year was able to exchange minibar for coke zero and sprite zero. Have they stopped having those on Princess?
  2. They will let you bring on more if you want. Never seen them stop anyone. Last cruise I had 3 12 packs and 2 12 packs of water. Put in carry on and took myself. You could try checked bag, but better seal it up well in case.
  3. Because of how princess does it, if you do want a sanctuary spot, go as early as possible to give you the best opportunity.
  4. Welcome to the new world of cruising. I'm waiting for Princess to increase package pricing soon. That will be a fun time on here.
  5. Why are people hung up on boarding times. I've never had them check. Go when you are ready. At least that is my experience.
  6. You can always book the room you want and watch prices and if they go down adjust. If you find a room you want, book it and then watch
  7. Yes it is, and that is why it's setup that way.
  8. Basic is for reading email only essential. No video, images, etc . You basically need premium to do anything other than email.
  9. I believe officers quarters are near the navigation area of the ship, or at least those who are responsible for the bridge area.
  10. If you want to share why you want it so bad and why she doesn't want it at all, you might get some helpful responses for moving forward. Do you think it's a good deal? Does she think it's not worth the money?
  11. I mentioned earlier in the thread, but a non alcoholic AI option would be nice to consider. I'm still mad they did away with this as an option for changing in your mini bar. Made the trade in worthwhile. Now you can only get a few dollars of value for it.
  12. I suppose to each his own. I don't mind someone making a profit off me to stay in business, but if I think it's excessive, I pause and then decide for myself. I call it frugal and valuing my money my way, but I understand most on here just call it being cheap. I've been called worse. My money, my decision. Someone else's money, their decision. What is coming is revenue based customer bookings. That will be interesting to navigate.
  13. We don't buy a package and instead bring on the soda and water we want at ports and embarkation. It's a slight hassle if you try to carry too much at once, but it's what I prefer over buying onboard.
  14. I didn't mention this but yes, the profit on the wifi has to be 95%. I'm just glad Princess hasn't reached Celebrity wifi pricing yet. Celebrity can build new ships off their wifi cost alone.
  15. A lot of people were upset when they rolled that out. I guess at a fixed daily cost they have to limit it, but it does seem like something they could have done better. Perhaps let people who have the plus packages pay maybe $5/person to go when they want as a compromise or something, but yes, lots of unhappy people over that.
  16. I was just responding to the other comment with what I have heard previously. Nothing more nothing less. Everyone can decide for themselves. The forum serves as a discussion place for such things. I think overall it's safe to assume that even their worst case scenario (15 alcoholic drinks, 15 smoothies, 15 coffees, 15 sodas, 15 bottles of water, or whatever else), through the medallion, they have everyone who has ever boarded their ships since the medallion started and their bean counters know exactly. And yes, they have profit off of you simply from your booking whether an inside cabin or a suite. I don't book the packages as they have no value to me. If they have value to someone else, good deal.
  17. If you read any of my posts about packages I always mention it's a win/win/win. Person who gets the package is happy, Princess is happy, and us not buying them are happy for it keeping prices at least somewhat lower. I encourage the packages for those who can justify it and are happy with it.
  18. If you can and wanted to, you could carry on any soda/water you want at embarkation or ports and save buying them on the ship, but that is a personal decision if you wanted to do that.
  19. Yeah. It's been a while, but I did the math once with Jim Beam, and a pour from a bottle was around $1, and that is if you bought it at a grocery store, and I'm sure the cruise lines are getting better discounts for their volume purchases. And a bottle had about 16 pours, so cost would be about $16 plus the bartender time, so if they are selling each one at $10 (maybe higher now, not sure), then even if you say it cost them $1 to the Bartender, which I'm sure it doesn't, that's $128 profit per bottle, and Jim Beam is relatively cheap. I'm sure other alcohol choice are higher, but the profits are likely also higher. It's why they push packages so hard. It's probably paying all their bills above the hotel and food charges you pay for your stateroom.
  20. I've read many posts of people simply stating the drink portion after Wifi and Tips for the $60 plus would be $29. If you drank all 15, that makes each drink less than $2. It just goes to show you the massive profit packages bring in and why they are now pushed so hard. I also read that Celebrity has recently changed so that tips are not part of their AI, not sure if they still call it AI, but wouldn't surprise me if that shows up on Princess soon. If they are selling 75-80% packages as I have also read, wouldn't surprise me either a change like the above is coming, or simply another price increase soon. If the last price increases didn't impact sales, no reason not to do another and see how that sells.
  21. Early bookers who are either in transit or elite/platinum since they board first. I don't personally care, but I would guess this is excluding a lot of people who might want to book there. They could do similar to airlines. Of course their IT is downright terrible, so that is probably a bad ideal 🙂
  22. They really should update and allow booking online prior to the cruise. You can almost get trampled by people trying to rush the doors when they open up boarding trying to get up there.
  23. If you don't drink a decent amount the math doesn't work. I wish they offered an AI for non alcohol drinks for $30, that might make it worth it. Till then, I will bring on my own soda and water. But, as I typically say in these threads a lot of people put a lot of emphasis on the simplicity of the package not .asking them think about how much they would spend without, so it seems peace of mind is worth a lot to some. I view it as a win/win/win. Passengers buying it seem happy, the cruise linebis happy, and I like to think with so many buying them, it's keep cruise fares reasonable, and that is a win for those of us without packages.
