  1. Good morning. We had a beautiful drive down the coast from Seattle, lunch in Astoria overlooking the Columbia River. Arrived at the beautiful beach rental and just enjoyed the views, a whale spouting and a delicious Seafood boil of shrimp, Dungeness crab, potatoes, corn on the cob and Portuguese Sausage. Today is walks on beach day, traditional hamburger and hot dogs on the grill with chilled watermelon. No matter how you celebrate this special holiday may it be shared with loved ones and great friends. Pictures are our views from the beach house. Sunset was hindered by some offshore clouds but the folks enjoying their beach fires, and of course there were some pretty dynamic individual fireworks. I wish I could do a live scratch and smell as the scent of the Pacific Ocean is intoxicating.
  2. Good morning from Seattle. It was early to bed after a light appetizer in Marriott’s Airport restaurant. Awaiting Concierge room to open for breakfast then back to airport to pick up our rental car. It will be a leisurely drive down the coast as the beach house is not ready until 5 PM. I look in the mirror and say who the hell is that! Then a prayer of thanks that my image is still reflecting back. I love fried rice and that is probably why the guy in the mirror looks different. Rich thanks for the Fleet Report and may all you continue to enjoy your Canada Day and Fourth of July weekend holidays!
  3. Terri, We now fly to West Coast spend a day then fly rest of the way to Hawaii. Many options such as SF, Oakland, Seattle, Las Vegas and others. It breaks up the long flight and enables one to see and enjoy some great places along the way. We had a veteran Flight Attendant today who was fantastic and has over 17 million miles flying! Amazing!
  4. We and luggage arrived safely and on time in our cross country flight on Delta today. Mount Rainier was welcoming and beautiful on our final approach to Seattle. Even saw some cruise ships.
  5. On our recent visit to Honolulu we had the honor of being invited to tour Pearl Harbor on the Commander Of The Pacific Fleet, Admiral’s Barge. We have toured before but this invite covered areas not seen by the general public. As we got to encircle entirely around Ford Island. The ship remains in the picture are of the USS Utah where 53 men are permanently entombed and the ashes of a three year old girl. One of the sailors twin daughters had died and he was going to spread her remains at sea. Unfortunately he never got the chance. Our flight to Seattle is still showing on time and feeling confident we are really going to get their on schedule.
  6. On board first flight and bags are too! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
  7. Up early to prepare house and final packing. So far flights say they are a go and on time. Will see! On the news last night they stated Delta had offered a flyer $10,000.00 not to fly. If we get that offer it will be “son we’re not coming! We’ll keep you posted. Enjoy the weekend. Thanks Rich.
  8. One thing Hal should already know is what percentage of passengers have been unable to cruise due to a positive Covid test prior to embarkation. To me that should be an indicator whether prior testing is necessary.
  9. Good morning! Trying to be and think positive before our hopeful flight to Seattle tomorrow morning! Though I have stopped looking the infamous key is still winning the game of hide and seek! Packing is done other then last minute toiletries and not taking much as the beach house has a washer and dryer. Investment Freedom Day? Does freedom mean free of $$$ when our investment portfolios are dropping 2% a day?😱 Who would have thought that Carnival CCL stock would get down to $8.00 a share. A gamble but maybe a good time to buy if your going to cruise a lot. This week went by in a flash as it feels I was at church yesterday. Rich thanks for the Fleet Report. Roy enjoy your cruise on have tux will travel Line Be Healthy everyone. Happy Canada Day!
  10. Wow! That brings back memories. We have done the Oosterdam wave! Fun times.
  11. Good morning. Have been to today’s port of call, been awhile since I have seen a meteor and here and FB are my only social media outlet’s. The Daily always amazes me with the wonderful group of folks that feel comfortable here and some who haven’t even sailed on Hal. How did you find us? Today’s packing day, which will take some thought as we are sweltering in the nineties and our destination is fifty-sixty five temps. We have appointments for pedicures this afternoon and so I will proclaim today Happy Feet Day at our abode! Thanks for the Fleet Report and all who contribute., Bon Voyage! Roy Prayers for all and that all may have a healthy, safe and joyful day.
  12. Good morning! My sweetheart is back and that makes me happy. Went to Ruby Tuesday’s for their salad bar for dinner. No walking this AM as thunderstorms are near and we have a appointment with our financial advisor. Interesting that on our upcoming Best of Norway cruise on Rotterdam they are offering the pop up specialty dinner DeLibre which I thought had run it’s course and retired. We have decided not to spend the $83.00 each. In the past we have done this meal but we’re never that impressed. I remember the deconstructed apple pie for desert. Take a perfect slice of apple pie break it up and voila it’s supposed to be wonderful! Me think not! Lumpia is good for an appetizer not as a main course for me and I have always wanted to try the chocolate expresso martini. Maybe this next cruise. What I really miss is the famous Flaming Spanish Coffee that was done table side. In the Pinnacle the flaming kabobs and steak Diane! We were spoiled in those days! On our recent Azamara cruise we enjoyed pool side BBQ’s cooked on Weber charcoal grills and tons of food and deserts presented and offered. This brought up questioning why can’t we still do this on Holland America? Nostalgia day remembering mussels being served around pool with Poutine on Canada cruises. Roasted pig at sea view pool etc. etc. Still no change of flights so we are prepared to go for it Saturday. Hey! We’re retired and what else do we have to do? Have a great day!
  13. SAS sandals! The neighbors arrive home tonight they think it’s funny and I’ve stopped looking. And that’s all I’m going to say about that!🤐
  14. I checked that and I rarely drink beer. Believe me I have looked everywhere and yes even the fridge! I have stopped looking. 🤔
  15. Nope. Locked neighbors front door with key. Walked home and haven’t found them since. Checked clothes, laundry hamper, under chair I sit in. Walked back to neighbors house seven times looking for them. Nothing! Neighbors return tonight so I have one cat feeding to go. I have spent at least two hours searching. Neighbors think it’s funny. A mystery!
  16. Nada, The keys are still winning at hide and seek!😁
  17. Happy to hear your safely home. Turned out well but scary to have that happen when on a trip. Welcome back!
  18. Good morning or afternoon for some. Neighbors cats are fed, my wife Sue should be home by noon. Yeah!❤️ Our Saturday flights are still listed but it’s not reassuring when the news states one out of four flights are being affected by cancellations or delays! We have been to today’s port of call and have enjoyed Iceland on some cruises. Would like to thank our columnist here on the Daily. Our food and beverage columnist, and all who make this a very special place for special people. Have a great day.
