  1. I have a better approach, book on board only. Then you don't have to visit GS. LOL. We prebooked dinners on our last cruise, actually booked a total of 10 dinners which we prepaid, provided the names of guests when doing so. We then found no one on the ship seemed to have access to the list of guests for reservations and we were charged again on board, for our first dinner. Then we spent time getting the charge reversed.
  2. I ignore because I plan to keep my passport active. No need for real ID.
  3. If I saw this, would walk away from the buffet...tell staff as well to replace food items.
  4. Sorry you had not so good experience with some locals. I have cruised out of SF probably a 12 dozen times since Princess made it a home port. Never experienced anything like what you are talking about. San Francisco is my home port; I live in San Mateo out by SF Airport.
  5. Due to board the Royal Princess on December 22, 2022. Wondering how the boarding experience has been recently. I ask because my DH is 90 can't stand in line long waiting for the terminal to open.
  6. I just checked and finally the arrival times should up.
  7. Several years ago, we booked two 7-day trips out of Florida, one on the Ruby Princess, one on a new Celebrity ship. We had one night in Ft Lauderdale between the two cruises. Enjoyed it and would do something similar, two different lines, different entertainment when on different cruise lines. Also gave us a chance to compare the two lines at the same time. We are actually elite on both, decided we liked Princess the best. It was fun.
  8. I have carried a Travel Guard annual business traveler policy for years, can book online, only $518 for 2. Does not cover the cost of cruise but does provide emergency medical and evacuation plus routine travel insurance benefits. I have never had to use. My DH and I are on Medicare so important to have some medical coverage. Now with Covid, and a family member with major health issues, I also book Princess coverage for the cancel for any reason.
  9. I object to the victim shaming argument. Yes, the OP did say in on breath accountable and then in the next breath something else. I said in another post hold the crook accountable but don't excuse your own actions.
  10. In my day we took responsibility for our own actions. Hold the crook accountable and let's look at what we might do differently to avoid problems.
  11. Agree I would blame myself as well if I left a credit card out. This is a crime of opportunity. Do not see the logic to sexual assault cases, that is a stretch. Who doesn't lock their car and house these days??? Asking for trouble if you do.
  12. I have gone in an out of SF many times, the sad truth is this port does not provide much assistance at all until you are inside the terminal. No one is allowed to enter until the arriving ship is clear of all passengers getting off. I am looking tonight because my sister is disabled, needs a walker with a seat, just in case there is a wait to get into the terminal because their is little to no places to sit outside the terminal. A couple of years ago, Feb 2020, the ship we were boarding was delayed. Princess did send emails warning folks not to come to the port early. We actually waited outside the entrance for 5.5 hours, (this was not normal) standing the entire time, before the terminal was opened to those wanting to board that day. Next to us was an very elderly man with his wife and daughter. The daughter repeatedly asked if a folding chair could be brought out for her father to sit on, the chair was inside the terminal in clear site. For the first 4.5 hours the response was no. Finally those in charge allowed the daughter to take the father inside and sit on the chair. I am from SF, this liberal city that professes to be so up to date on such issues sadly did not demonstrate so that day at all. I have boarded ships all over the world, SF for some reason is one of the most challenging ports I have experienced whether able bodied or not. I was looking tonight, to see if I can find some solutions as I am boarding with my 90 year husband and my disabled sister later this month. I have purchased a collapsible stool for my husband, just in case because he can not stand in line anymore for long. I know we can get wheel chairs once in side for my husband and sister but then I will be trying to deal with my carryon's. plus my sister's walker. Luckily I am 75 and fairly able but trying to help two who have mobility challenges, plus my husband has dementia and can't hear well. Can't check the walker because sister may need to sit down before entering the terminal. Suspect we will figure the boarding out once in the terminal, my sister is hoping she can walk with the walker but I know it is a long walk and sometimes mostly up hill, so feel a wheel chair is better. May need to get my husband to the cabin and then come back and help my sister with the walker. Does not seem like there are many options for us seniors and those with disabilities.
  13. Welcome to Princess. We have cruised HAL, we are 2 star on HAL. Each line has its pluses and minuses. We will be on our 32 Princess cruise in December. In the past 10 years, we have cruised Princess, HAL and Cunard. Have gone back to Princess since the Pandemic. See some changes but not enough to make me not book Princess. The staff on Princess are fantastic, much like HAL. Hope you enjoy your cruise.
  14. I have been cruising since the early 1980s, it is only in the past 10 years that ships started eliminating libraries, first saw it on Celebrity ships which still had a facade of a library, no real books. To answer your question, I do expect them to have a decent library especially of travel related materials.
  15. This one of the biggest disappointments of the newer ships, use to love to look through the travel books on board.
  16. Thanks for all your helpful information. Agree staff in MDR are fantastic, they will do whatever it takes. I am avoiding the MDR not because of staff but because my dh can be disruptive, and I don't want to spoil the atmosphere for others.
  17. Including air, cruise, hotels and expenses: probably $12,000 for two.
  18. I have visited the ports you mentioned on a number of cruise lines including Princess, Celebrity, Holland America and Cunard. You can't go wrong with any of these lines, if price matters, a less expensive line is NCL which also has cruises, may be not to Ephesus but to Italy and Spain for sure. Good luck, you can't go wrong pick a cruise with the ports you like and the price point that works for you.
  19. I have gone in and out of Barcelona on flights to Paris and to San Francisco. Agree just because ship due in at 6am, does not mean the ship arrives on time and it does take time to clear the ship. Depends on day of the week as well especially in Europe. Security in Europe on flights to the USA and Israel are very tight. Have you checked with the cruise line on what is the earliest you should book a flight for this cruise. They generally advise passengers if asked. Flight schedules do change, we once arrived at the airport in Barcelona thinking we had a couple of hours only to find the flight time had been moved up much to our surprise.
  20. If I was you, I would talk to your husband's doctor on whether you should be concerned about traveling by ship, with days a sea. Sometimes problems can be resolved. A few years ago, my eye doctor advised me that I was a risk for a condition and if I noticed any changes in my vision to see him immediately. I thought about it and asked is there something that I can do to prevent or reduce the risk proactively, since I like to do TAs and cruises. Turned out yes, there was a very simple procedure which I did, and I no longer needed to be concerned.
  21. Thanks for all the posting, gives me lots to look forward to. Happy cruising.
