  1. The problem is that all these responses are from people who have cruised Azamara so they are preaching to the converted. Also most cruisers do not go onto CC to read the good thing about Azamara. If the Azamara front office is as bad as everyone says it is potential new customers will say "why bother" and book on another line so Azamara will not get the new customers they need to stay in business. It seems like we get a "wonderful" Azamara offer in our e-mail box every day so they must be having difficulties filling cabins. DON
  2. So do not cruise. Pick 3 or 4 or 5 places that you would like to spend an extended period at and stay that each place for several days. You will have a more enjoyable time than on a cruise ship any day and you will get to know that places you stop at much better than on a 6 hour cruise stop. DON
  3. Did you figure out how long you will actually be on land during your 7 day cruise. Did you also notice how much of your time that you are on land you will be early in the morning when nothing is open. This is a totally ridiculous cruise. DON
  4. Even if he is totally and completely and obviously and annoyingly wrong?? DON
  5. A suite is anything that the cruise line wants to call a suite. It is up to you to look at the cabin layout to see if you want one of their "suites". DON
  6. To me it is very simple. If a town wants to ban or reduce the number of ships in port for whatever reasons that they feel are important to them they should have every right to do so. After all it is the place where the people live. The only proviso should be that the people who live there should be willing to accept any economic effects of the ban. We as' cruisers are guests in their town and guests can be kicked out if they are a pain. DON
  7. Didn't that clear plastic thing have a string or something so you could put it around your neck. . What else do you need as long as you also have a pocket. DON
  8. If I remember correctly the medallion came in some sort of a holder. Why would anyone spend extra money for a fancier holder. Seems like a waste to me. Am I missing something? DON
  9. How often does this occur as compared to the many many people who should be taken off the road forever but aren't. BTW - if you are a paraplegic and intoxicated you still shouldn't be driving your chair. If you do something stupid while driving your chair and I hit you that can and does cause long term psychological problems to the person who hit the paraplegic. I would not want to have to carry that guilt long term even if the injury or death was not my problem. DON
  10. There are lots and lots of cruises that have what you want. Do some research on your own and come back w some more specific questions. Right now your post is much too general. DON
  11. Good for Canada!! The US is way too lenient in how we handle people who drive drunk. Witness the number of people who have multiple DUI convictions on their record. It would be very easy to force people who have a DUI conviction to install devices on their cars to make it much more difficult for them to drive after drinking. It would not eliminate the problem but it would significantly reduce it. DON
  12. It isn't hard to convert velocity from one set of units to another set of units. You can do it directly in Google. DON
  13. You have not specified what ship the Princess is and also what line MICA is and what ship it is. Knowing the itinerary and port stops and port times would also be useful. Why force us to guess on abbreviations and why ask questions with incomplete information? Regardless it sounds like the Princess is a cruisetour and the MICA is a DIY cruise. Based on this guess and this guess only I would do the MICA cruise because it is NOT a cruisetour. A more complete question would get you a much better answer. One other thing. I assume that you do know that Denali is closed at mile marker 43 so you do not get into the best parts of the park on your Denali tour. If it were me I would not even go to Denali until the riad is completed in hopefully a few years and would pick a tour that is not so restricted. DON
  14. The Chilean fjords are beautiful. DON
  15. Also probably an upcharge for soft toilet tissue that does not feel like sandpaper. DON
  16. Just say "NO!". I have never ever been bothered again after that. Just can't see what the big fuss is about. DON
  17. It would also be a function of the relative wind in addition to the absolute wind. Also your tolerance to wind. Your question is not answerable. DON
  18. Telling you the name of a cruise forum where TA names can be shared would be the equivalent of us actually telling you the names of the TAs. Both are not allowed. DON
  19. Unlike the Caribbean in AK it is all about the itinerary. Look at the itieraries for any cruises that you are considering. DON
  20. I am going to make a comment about 2 wheel versus 4 wheel suitcases. I have a 2 wheel suitcase; my wife has a 4 wheel suitcase. I HATE 4 wheel suitcases. Four wheel suitcases may be good on smooth surfaces but the little tiny tiny wheels make them awful on surfaces that are not smooth. They don't handle bumps well. They are absolutely awful on rugs. If you try to pull them down uneven streets with curbs they do not go over the curbs well. The only possible advantage of them is that you don't have to hold then to keep them from falling over when you walk with them. Did I mention that I would guess that the teny tine wheel are not going to hold up well. My 10 or 15 year old 2 wheel model with big wheels has wheels that are still in perfect shape. I would not buy a 4 wheel suitcase if they paid me to take them. Did I mention that I HATE 4 wheel suitcases. DON
  21. Although we can not recommend a TA on CC, I can tell you how we found our TA. We have a friend who does a lot of cruising and we asked them who they used. They gave us the TA's name and we have been happy w her ever since. She is a one person TA who is affiliated with a major TA group. That is all that I can tell you - references are your best bet. I will add several things about why a TA is good in addition to the rebates that you sometimes get from them and I will say that the rebates while nice are not the most useful thing that you can get from a TA. You have someone on your side when things go wrong. When the cruise company tries to work you over (I am being polite here) or they will not provide the proper service the TA is on your side. They also have connections that you get you stuff that you did not even know were available. DON
  22. My mistake but my point was that they tested every day. DON
  23. You do not need to pack for 32 days. You only need to pack for 7 or 8 days. DON
  24. If it is still down it has been down for at least 3 or 4 days. DON
  25. As I see it here is the reason that Azamara is going to die. For any business to survive they have to get new customers to replace older (agewise and interest wise) customers who stop buying the product. The same thing occurs with cruise lines and especially with lines who have an older clientele such as Azamara. Although I have not cruised on the new Azamara post Covid and under the new management the comments here on CC appear to be that Azamara is doing a good job once you get on board. Azamara's problem is that 98% of their customers and potential customers do not use CC and they book either by calling Azamara or through their TA. From what I read here the booking experience for Azamara is horrible so the potential say "forget it" and go to another cruise line that has a better front and back office staff. They never get to enjoy the Azamara onboard experience. These potential new customers are gone forever. Any comments? DON
