  1. You have not specified what ship the Princess is and also what line MICA is and what ship it is. Knowing the itinerary and port stops and port times would also be useful. Why force us to guess on abbreviations and why ask questions with incomplete information? Regardless it sounds like the Princess is a cruisetour and the MICA is a DIY cruise. Based on this guess and this guess only I would do the MICA cruise because it is NOT a cruisetour. A more complete question would get you a much better answer. One other thing. I assume that you do know that Denali is closed at mile marker 43 so you do not get into the best parts of the park on your Denali tour. If it were me I would not even go to Denali until the riad is completed in hopefully a few years and would pick a tour that is not so restricted. DON
  2. The Chilean fjords are beautiful. DON
  3. Also probably an upcharge for soft toilet tissue that does not feel like sandpaper. DON
  4. Just say "NO!". I have never ever been bothered again after that. Just can't see what the big fuss is about. DON
  5. It would also be a function of the relative wind in addition to the absolute wind. Also your tolerance to wind. Your question is not answerable. DON
  6. Telling you the name of a cruise forum where TA names can be shared would be the equivalent of us actually telling you the names of the TAs. Both are not allowed. DON
  7. Unlike the Caribbean in AK it is all about the itinerary. Look at the itieraries for any cruises that you are considering. DON
  8. I am going to make a comment about 2 wheel versus 4 wheel suitcases. I have a 2 wheel suitcase; my wife has a 4 wheel suitcase. I HATE 4 wheel suitcases. Four wheel suitcases may be good on smooth surfaces but the little tiny tiny wheels make them awful on surfaces that are not smooth. They don't handle bumps well. They are absolutely awful on rugs. If you try to pull them down uneven streets with curbs they do not go over the curbs well. The only possible advantage of them is that you don't have to hold then to keep them from falling over when you walk with them. Did I mention that I would guess that the teny tine wheel are not going to hold up well. My 10 or 15 year old 2 wheel model with big wheels has wheels that are still in perfect shape. I would not buy a 4 wheel suitcase if they paid me to take them. Did I mention that I HATE 4 wheel suitcases. DON
  9. Although we can not recommend a TA on CC, I can tell you how we found our TA. We have a friend who does a lot of cruising and we asked them who they used. They gave us the TA's name and we have been happy w her ever since. She is a one person TA who is affiliated with a major TA group. That is all that I can tell you - references are your best bet. I will add several things about why a TA is good in addition to the rebates that you sometimes get from them and I will say that the rebates while nice are not the most useful thing that you can get from a TA. You have someone on your side when things go wrong. When the cruise company tries to work you over (I am being polite here) or they will not provide the proper service the TA is on your side. They also have connections that you get you stuff that you did not even know were available. DON
  10. My mistake but my point was that they tested every day. DON
  11. You do not need to pack for 32 days. You only need to pack for 7 or 8 days. DON
  12. If it is still down it has been down for at least 3 or 4 days. DON
  13. As I see it here is the reason that Azamara is going to die. For any business to survive they have to get new customers to replace older (agewise and interest wise) customers who stop buying the product. The same thing occurs with cruise lines and especially with lines who have an older clientele such as Azamara. Although I have not cruised on the new Azamara post Covid and under the new management the comments here on CC appear to be that Azamara is doing a good job once you get on board. Azamara's problem is that 98% of their customers and potential customers do not use CC and they book either by calling Azamara or through their TA. From what I read here the booking experience for Azamara is horrible so the potential say "forget it" and go to another cruise line that has a better front and back office staff. They never get to enjoy the Azamara onboard experience. These potential new customers are gone forever. Any comments? DON
  14. If you have a TA ask them. The problem w looking at the cruise company maps on almost any cruise site is that they use generic maps that are often wrong. I suspect that the people who create the itinerary maps often don't have any idea of what they are doing and they just draw a line on the map that looks right to them. that You might also go on the roll call for your cruise and someone on their might know.
  15. If you can afford the cost of a solo just go w/o him. I have done several cruises by myself as my wife did not want to do them. DON
  16. They only posted their question yesterday. Maybe they do not spend all their time on CC. DON
  17. Although it would have helped w your lousy tour but I would hope that you complained vehemently to the cruise desk and got 100% of your money back. DON
  18. You have left off some very important information in your question. Most important and a critical piece of information is what are your port times. Some cruises have horrible port times. Also what are the dates of your 2 cruises? My answer is that I would not take either of the cruises. The big problem with both of them is that neither goes to Glacier Bay. That is probably because those lines do not have Glacier Bay permits. Also the inside passage is pretty but I would not base a choice of AK cruise ship on going through the inside passage. What you see or maybe don't see is more important than traversing the inside passage. Radiance does include Hubbard which is a great glacier that you can get fairly close to but you might not get into Hubbard at all because of ice and then you have no glacier at all. The same problem with glaciers exists for Quantum with the added issue that Dawes while a neat glacier is not as neat as either Glacier Bay or Hubbard. Since you are obviously open to doing a one way cruise I would try to find one that does Glacier Bay and then either Hubbard or Dawes with Hubbard being my 2nd cruise glacier. Hope this helps. DON
  19. That is obvious but the OP did not mention budget as a parameter that he was considering. DON
  20. To the OP - you were treated exactly like someone w Covid should have been treated. DON
  21. Viking was doing that for a while. You could not leave your cabin until the results of your daily test came back. DON
  22. How big is "small". If you are used to traveling on one of the Monstrsities of the Seas class ships a ship with 2000 might be considered small. For us, we consider anything over 1000 to be overly large. You need to define your parameters. DON
  23. There aren't that many cruise lines out there in whatever type of cruise line you are looking for. Just Google them and find out for yourself. It would not take you all that long. BTW - when you find out post if on CC so that other people can benefit from your research. DON
  24. If it comes to it you have 9 days between Sept 12 - 22nd. The distance between the 2 cities is 2164 miles. The road is paved and is an easy drive. That is only 240 miles per day which will even give you some time to a a little bit of sightseeing. DON
  25. What is realistic - absolutely nothing except the name of the ship. It was a TV show and what part of any TV show is ever realistic. DON
