    Hi all,

I’m new to Celebrity and we have a cruise booked from Barcelona for 7 days in April next year. We are undecided whether to add the drinks package. I understand offers are available at certain times of the year so will hold out anyway but my question is around what is actually included without an additional charge.

I understand that anything up to $10 is included on the Classic Package and anything over this you pay the difference plus tip. I’ve logged into the app and I’m able to see the onboard menus and prices. The only alcohol beverage listed at $10 or below is Bud Light. There is literally nothing else on any of the menus that would be included. The cheapest glass of wine is $12 (pinot Grigio) or the cheapest Sauvignon blanc is $18. Pool side bar there is one cocktail for $14 and the rest are either $18 or $20. A Heineken is even $11 so not fully included. Even a Peroni zero alcohol is $13 (!!).

The app is notoriously, unreliable, incomplete, and inaccurate.

Does anyone have recent experience of a European sailing on Celebrity that could tell me whether my understanding above is correct. I would expect even a basic package to have more than 1 item that’s fully included. Other cruise lines I’ve been on the classic package usually has a wide selection of drinks (maybe 10 or 20) that’s included, with more expensive alcohol options being an additional charge.

I’m by no means a cheapskate, whatever we’ll want on the day we’ll get whether it’s included or not. I’m just struggling to see the benefit of paying circa £850 ($1,150) for a ‘drinks package’ for there to be $5-$10 charge for each drink ordered. Are the menu prices on the app wrong? Surely no one would bother buying the classic package. We’re not big drinkers so it would be borderline whether it’s worth it for us, but it definitely wouldn’t be if there’s nothing to order without an additional charge.

If anyone has any insight I’d really appreciate it.

    Thanks

here are some typical menus. Maybe these will help.

I'm trying to determine if multi outlet charging devices are now prohibited in cruises. I just saw a change or rather the addition of this rather essential cruise item on RCL website. We have an upcoming Celebrity cruise so I'm wondering if this may impact us as well.  Any confirmation or clarification is appreciated. I didn't see this new info on the Celebrity site.

Avoid the kind which has a cord. Avoid anything which has surge protection.

If I still have balance of OBR in my onboard account at the end of my cruise, can I get the balance back, as cash, at Guest Service a day before my cruise?

It has been a while since the last time when I cruise with X.

Thank you for helping me out and share your experience!!

The day before your cruise? I don’t see how…..

Good afternoon,  I have searched the board and google and not sure of next step.  Emailed all info for OBC last week so it has been 10 days.  I can’t find OBC on my reservation.  I am looking under the “Plan your Cruise” tab.  Is there somewhere else I should be looking or should I email again.  This is the first time I have used this so I could use any advice.

    Thanks

    Karen

I would email Again. I submitted a request about two weeks ago and got back an email that it had been denied because my name wasn’t on the statement, which it was, so I submitted again, and circled my name and this time it went through. I suspect yours has not gone through and you should email Again.

We are sailing on Celebrity Ascent in December out of Fort Lauderdale for 7 days. We are particularly looking forward to the Seafood Extravaganza in the OCV buffet on one of the days. Some questions :

    - is it on the last sea day?

    usually

    4 hours ago, Kordy said:

    - does it offer unlimited lobster?

    no.

    4 hours ago, Kordy said:

    - is it always there or just sometimes?

depends on the length of the cruise

    4 hours ago, Kordy said:

    - is it regular lunch hours?

    yes

We'll be docked in Cozumel on Thanksgiving Day. Will the Turkey dinner fare just be served at dinner?

    possibly

Does anyone know if they'll be showing the Macy's day parade on board? It's always been our tradition to watch that if we’re at home or at a hotel in the US. Curious if that might be an option on a ship.

    probably not

My other questions are about the elite perks on this ship - specifically for the breakfast available at Tuscan grill. Does anyone have the drink menu for elites from that cruise?

We just got off the beyond and the menu was very limited for mixed drinks. Would it be the same fleet wide?  Or does it change for each class of ship?

mixed drinks are not part of the breakfast on any ship.

  7. Here is a strategy you could consider when thinking about acquiring points and using them

first, because there are cards that have much better returns, you should only use this card when booking cruises and paying the end of cruise bill that you get on the ship. Use other cards for all other purchases.

use your points for paying down your credit card bill rather than getting OBC. Build up your onboard spending so that you can pay it off with the card and get the bonus points, accruing them to use for the next cruise.

This is the most efficient way of using the Celebrity card and acquiring points on it

I didn't use it towards the purchase of the cruise which would apply to the above statement. I was also told when I asked here on CC and Celebrity that it is refundable.

You don’t need to have use the card to pay for that cruise in order to use the points for a fare reduction.  When you go to redeem the points, just choose the fare reduction option instead of the OBC option.  Put in your booking number and the date of the cruise. You will then see the redemption as a credit on your next credit card statement.

If I don't use the on board credit up it will be refunded to the card in which case I will work off of that credit at home. I don't sail that much with Celebrity. My next cruise after this is booked on Princess. I have cards with better cash back benefits than what the cruise lines offer for OBC.

You are probably better off cashing in the points for reduction fair rather than onboard credit. Choose that option and you’ll get a credit on your next statement.

Perhaps, but is all about the money, right. Also the Sky Lounge is closed for the Elite plus party almost every night including first night probably for 3 hours.  Is that okay?

This is not accurate.  It is not closed every night.  Two or three times per cruise, from 5-7 and often not ch completely closed, just one area set aside for the Elite happy hour with the rest open to all.

I have never heard or experienced that as the Elite benefits are fleet wide and published.

Some itineraries have water restrictions so they limit the number of items you can send and like all the Captains Club benefits they are subject to some local variation

If you go to the effort of wanting to move up and pay the extra surely Celebrity should consider changing the policy to reflect CC points? I mean going from a standard balcony to concierge you remain on getting the points for the standard balcony.

    I’m heir game, their rules
