  1. Yes, sadly, that is how it works on the e class ships
  2. How long is the cruise? Is that per person or for two? Do you need the extra Captain’s Club points?
  3. Just don’t bother. You can answer the questions in person in the terminal.
  4. No microwaves for passenger use. there are all kinds of health department regulations about not using ship equipment to prepare food brought on board by passengers
  5. Never book a cruise based on a single port. There are far too many things that can go wrong, from weather, to strikes, to mechanical difficulties. No port is guaranteed.
  6. Extra cash tips over and above the auto tips are not pooled but if the auto tips are removed then that’s a different story
  7. NA beer is classified as beer and not allowed
  8. This is a fascinating hobby brought in board by one cruiser
  9. That may be do but it is still not a requirement from the cruise line that wine can ONLY go in the carry on.
  10. Here are some things to consider regarding removing the tips 1. You won’t directly see all of the people who would be sharing in the auto tip. You will see your room steward and your dining room waiter and assistant waiter, of course, but the rest of the staff would be impossible to find to give cash tips to. 2. when you remove the auto tips, it goes as a black mark against those staff who are most directly taking care of you. That isn’t your intent, of course, but that is what happens. 3. after having removed auto tip, any cash tips you give to the housekeeping and wait staff must be turned into the pool so they don’t get to keep those directly anyway. Only if the auto tips are in place can they keep any cash tips that you give above the standard gratuity.
  11. Yes the quizzes at first were so badly written they were a real challenge the hardest thing has been to keep posters on track between power up opportunities. Thread drift makes us think there’s a new opportunity when it’s just people talking about other things.
  12. I believe that snowmc’s advice was overly cautious. There is no requirement that wine must be in carry on only
  13. By that thinking, 3 and 4 night cruises should get one-half of the perks?
  14. No need to do it ahead of time. Just show the documents at the terminal assuming you are on a closed loop cruise where the passport is not a requirement. I believe you will need an original birth certificate as well as the other two documents.
  15. Perhaps someone at the US STATE DEPARTMENT could be able to help?
  16. This has been suggested many times, and the powers that be always said that they have no intention of creating that intermediate level. It’s nice to dream, but don’t waste too many brain cells on it.
  17. I think your big problem is going to be the electrical one. I can only speak to the S & M class ships not the E class. Not sure which you are on It’s quite possible, between meal times, to set up in the ocean view café, because outside of mealtimes there are plenty of empty tables. but your big issue is going to be the electrical one. Where to plug in, and what kind of electrical connection you need. US receptacles are few and far between on ships. Mostly what you will find are the European two-prong plugs which are probably not going to be of use to you without a voltage converter and a plug adapter. And seldom are there plugs of any kind near the windows. Usually they are set into the walls closer to the center of the ship. I am always looking for places to plug mobility scooters in to top off their charge during the day.
