  1. I just got off back to back nine and five day cruises on Explorer OTS. Food was a huge disappointment. Had to send many things back. Hot soup was served lukewarm. Pasta dishes ranged from blah to icky, both in MDR and Giovanni’s. The steak served in Giovanni’s was an embarrassment. Service was generally good. I had a great stateroom attendant. I found some very good bar waiters. The smoke from the casino was awful and it wafted its way into Schooner Bar where trivia was held. I couldn’t take it so I missed some of my favorite activities. The entire atmosphere of the ship flipped between the two cruises. The nine-day was the usual Caribbean crowd, but The five day was for loud boozers and loud kids. Lots of people trying to get away with vaping in the bars. Security had to be called every night at Dizzy’s. Diamond has four drinks/day loaded onto their cards, Elite Plus Five, pinnacles six. The drinks ordered in the Crown Lounge (formerly Diamond Lounge) counted against that total. the Crown Lounge was a haven…a quiet getaway from drunks and kids. The coffee machine worked, the continental breakfast and evening snacks were delicious, as opposed to the food encountered throughout the rest of the ship. I doubt if I will be back on a Royal ship.
  2. No….I would not send those out in the ship’s laundry
  3. If your kids constantly need to be entertained, the quieter vibe may not be for them. But if they enjoy reading, playing card games, watching movies, and other low key activities it could be perfect. The covered solarium pool will likely be open to them for a couple of hours a day. Only you know your kids and what they like.
  4. You mean Pinnacle, not Zenith
  5. In actuality, the upgrade is not so much an upgrade as it is a down price. That is, you pick the cabin you want, and you pay the price of the cabin one level below. so if you want a C1, you pay for a C2. Or you book an A1 but pay the cost of an A2. now, in order for this to take place, there must be an available cabin in the lower category so they can get the price it would cost. this is available for insides, outsides, verandahs, concierge and Aqua rooms, but not suites. and this perk is not limited to Zeniths
  6. You have misunderstood. It is not an upgrade to an aqua cabin. It is a one category upgrade, which goes as high as aqua cabins but no higher. And it is not a Zenith perk. It is a Captains Club perk. .
  7. Each activities manager and cruise director does it differently. Some put all kinds of passenger-led activities in the Daily Program—-things like Friends of Bill, Veterans Get Togethers, etc. while others put them on the Community board.
  8. Did you look at the Community board? Things which are organized by passengers are usually posted there rather than in the printed program and that’s what the nondenominational service usually is
  9. If a non-denominational service will work, there’s no problem. There always will be one of those.
  10. Does it need to be a Catholic mass? They try to bring a priest on board at Christmas time, but cannot guarantee it. If a nondenominational service will suffice, you can be assured that there will be one.
  11. That painting with a broad brush. Perhaps that employee didn’t care, or even that department on that ship didn’t care, but I wouldn’t judge the whole company based on this one failure.
  12. Have you checked the edge class cabin spreadsheet sticky?
  13. assuming they will be using one of the exits to the open deck by the theater you will see where the queue forms you probably won’t go into the theater, you’ll be outside it. Unless, of course, something terrible happens and the whole disembark process is delayed in which case the theater will be where you can sit and wait. are you trying to make an exceptionally early flight?
  14. You don’t go to the theater —- walkoffs just line up. If you need to be off the ship first, expect to start lining up as early as 6:30 AM. There will be staff directing you into the queue.
  15. No. Your Captains Club status has no effect on the walk off process. If you want to be off the ship first, you have to be in line first.
  16. The prices change all the time. Flash sales. Secret discounts. Special promos. Unfortunately this is a moving target.
  17. You can’t ride it when it goes up and down if that’s your question
  18. Also can be done on board on embarkation day but no later
  19. The one I quoted from the other thread’s post #4 is definitely not current but it shows the kind of spreadsheet a TA ought to be able to access
  20. It’s just a cable. Pack it just in case. “Better to have it and not use it than to need it and not have it”
