  1. Unless one doesn’t drink alcohol, the drink package has an amazing value, and the gratuity on the dining package is almost nothing.
  2. You definitely have a misunderstanding on the drink package, too. No taxes, you just pay for what the gratuities would be for the package if purchased, around $21 pp pd, which is about the cost of 1 1/2 drinks. If you drink more than 1 1/2 drinks a day it is worth it. It’s not hidden either. Maybe you need a new TA who can explain things better?
  3. There is no drink package involved but the non alcoholic one which they both have.
  4. I guess you didn’t read, she will not have the alcohol package, she will be paying OOP for drinks. On NCL I signed and gave permission for my 19 and 20 year olds to order beer and wine, but told them they were responsible for the costs. They did most of their drinking off of the ship. It wasn’t a big deal, obviously they can drink at home.
  5. I think you will be fine, they just started the reservation system and so far no reports of people being turned away, just like before the reservation system. I can see why they added it, more $, but it makes folks think there is a need.
  6. I believe NCL used to offer premium air like you’ve described, not sure if they still do. B1G1 is not premium air, it’s a budget way to book flights.
  7. I don’t know why taking a cruise shuttle would be a better option than cab or Uber because of a traffic issue.
  8. I’m going to suggest a hotel in Fairfield NJ, I believe free parking, right off of route 80.
  9. You are responsible, it would’ve been nice for the TA to remind you, the cruise line bears no responsibility.
  10. Just like restaurants on land, just need the number of people. I think you will need to call about the high chair, online booking is only up to 8 and you have 9.
  11. RIU was our favorite day pass, drinks included, the breakfast and lunch buffets were good, the ocean gorgeous, we didn’t use the pool but it looked nice.
  12. You can take the Staten Island ferry to go past the SOL for free, but you need to get off and back on at Staten Island.
  13. I do not have spares for anyone, just one original and uncertified copies. My kids were born 4 miles away so getting extras should be pretty easy, I was born elsewhere and still only have my old faded original.
  14. I supplied birth certificates for my kids’ 2nd kiddie passport, I probably told them I lost the first ones. It killed me to get another one for one for my son who was weeks away from his 16th birthday for a choir trip to Canada, they bused.
  15. My family Carrie’s water bottles everywhere, I brought yeti’s on cruises, drink gallons a day. As for dine, I actually brought wind and paid corkage before the change, even with the UBP it was nice to have bottles in the cabin, and to bring to dinner (I’ve found NCL to do a very poor job with refills in the MDR’s). Dehydration and rehydration, easier to bring my own.
  16. I doubt a 5 year old is going to be moved up to a 9+ group. If ages are close, they usually will move an older kid down (and not a 4 year difference). I had 5 kids in 6 1/2 years who were in different age groups. Assume they will need to stay in their age groups.
  17. NCL will drop off and pick up iron and board from your cabin.
  18. I did too. Does anyone know where NCL spells out discretionary vs. daily?
  19. I think it’s 12. I’ve had 5 kids in teen clubs at different ages, what I’ve learned is #1, all of my kids hated tween clubs, #2 all of my kids loved teen clubs, #3, 15 - 17 year olds do not want to hang out with younger kids and 12 - 14 year olds don’t want to hang out with older kids, it really works out. On our last cruise my 14, 14, and 16 year olds had 3 different friend groups, as did my 19 and 20 year olds. I think it would be a shame to push the tween club without at least trying the teen club. When my kids were 12 on NCL we just let them go places and let us know where they were going, since they had no interest in the 10 - 12 after trying it.
  20. If we are docked we are usually off of the ship, or enjoying a less crowded ship. While sailing we are out there a lot, absolutely love it. At home we have a large wrap around porch which we also enjoy.
  21. Amtrak rates are fluid and go up closer to travel time, my daughter’s $30 trip from Newark NJ to Newark DE has gone up over $100.
