  1. I think I'd like ones filled with the plum marmalade, but not pastry cream. I'm not a sweets person. I think it's a carryover from being a daughter of a dentist and not allowed many sweets.
  2. Good morning all! I'm a bit late, had to make a few phone calls and get some other things done before I read the Daily. I have slept better the last two nights, just wish I could figure out how to do that every night. I knew today wasn't Roy's birthday @rafinmd, because his birthday is the day before mine. As a child my mother always confused my birthday because she went into labor on the 23rd but had me the next day so she always thought it was the day she went into labor. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, @TiogaCruiser isn't from Tucson. IIRC, she is in the greater San Diego area. I remembered your pictures from the last time you posted them, I was fascinated by the Eurasian Plate. I never knew that excitied before. Thinking of Annie & Chuck today @marshhawk as they say goodbye to Neko. I hope she posts soon. Sorry, I'm not fond of filled donuts, which is what I think Paczki are. I like tortilla chips and really like to eat nachos and enchiladas with them. Yum. I appreciate bartenders when I sit at the bar, especially on a BHB. I like Halibut and do enjoy the topping that Terry uses @smitty34877, I add some breadcrumbs on top too. Welcome to the Daily @TAW1963! I hope you post more frequently. Have a great day!
  3. I kept telling Craig just to think about it being Greek because that’s where it came from. I’ve made it before, it’s just been a while. I liked this recipe but I probably won’t make it again any time soon. I enjoyed it for something different and easy. Just dump and stir in the crockpot. We’ll find out about the heartburn later tonight. 😉
  4. Good morning everyone and Happy Thursday. I’ll pass on the days today. We only give Blue soft treats because of his lack of teeth, poor thing. Ever since the last teeth extractions I’ve added a few tablespoons of water to his dry food. I’ve tried canned food but he won’t eat it. I like lentils but prefer it as a soup. And, sorry Debbie @dfish, always with carrots. Today we are having the Cincinnati Chili I made yesterday over spaghetti. Hopefully Craig won’t get heartburn. Vanessa @JazzyV, I’m so sorry about your BFF’s uncle passing. Condolences to him and his family. Happy Birthday to Linda @lindaler! I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing that it’s her birthday. Nancy @ottahand7, if you see her today please let her know that I said to enjoy her special day. Have a great day everyone!
  5. Lisa, I think it depends upon the itinerary. The shore excursions for our Koningsdam Hawaii cruise in January’24 have been available since I booked which was December 31st. So I’d keep checking periodically. However, specialty dining reservations are not yet available.
  6. Good early afternoon! Blue had an appointment this morning for his paw-idure and when I got home I started chili in the crockpot. I’m trying a new recipe for Cincinnati Chili. I hope we like it because I used 2 lbs of ground beef. I’ve read the Daily on and off all morning, including my 4:00 am wake up. I did manage to get back to sleep about 7:30 for an hour. Our predicted wind arrived during the night and the entire house sounded like a tornado was coming. Blue even woke up and growled at the wind. It started raining after we got home from the vet. I don’t think I’ll try the meal. Not a huge fan of curry but I’d eat it if that was the only option. Annie @marshhawk, I am so sorry about Neko. It is a heart wrenching decision to make and to know when the best time is so our fur babies don’t suffer. I’ll be thinking of you, especially on Friday. Have a great day everyone!
  7. I hate to be gross but I’ve read that bugs like you because of the way you smell. They love me and I do my best to avoid them.
  8. Good morning everyone and Happy Tuesday. Our weather is going to be cooler for a few days and even rain. We are also on a wind advisory. I haven’t been to St John but will next time we go to St Thomas. It looks beautiful. Thanks to all who shared pictures. Thank you for the recipes Debbie @dfish. I’m saving your father’s marinade, it sounds good. All the talk about sleep and the lack of sleep hits home. I’ve had two bad nights in a row and both times finally got back to sleep about 4 hours later. I hope we all can get better sleep. Have a great day!
  9. No it doesn’t. Unfortunately, it only accounts for your original purchase. I know because it happened to me.
  10. Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday. After a sunny and warm day yesterday it’s dreary and cloudy today. It’ll be about 10 degrees cooler too. Rain is in the forecast for next week. Crazy February weather. Graham @grapau27, Condolences to Sarah and her friend’s family. Sandi @StLouisCruisers, welcome home! DGD Summer came over a day early yesterday and is still sleeping. Her dad took away her phone so it’s been nice having her here without being on it constantly. Blue loves her and will lay with her in any position which can be hilarious. Well, good morning sunshine, she just walked in the door and is getting comfy with Blue. So cute. Have a great day everyone!
  11. Good morning everyone and Happy Saturday. We have some household chores to do today before DGD Summer comes tomorrow. Today’s high is supposed to be 70F. Craig tries to keep our batteries and wine stocked up. I have yet to see whales on any cruise. I’ve avoided those tours because I get seasick easily especially on small boats. I’ll pass on the meal, drink and wine. I think I’m making the Tuscan chicken from the meal suggestion from the other day. Joy @Seasick Sailor, great pictures and the baby is adorable. I love that the puppy is also in the picture. Bon Voyage! Annie @marshhawk, I’d like to think all of AZ is friendly. Are you selling for the current season? Or for renewals for next year? I thought it was almost over for now. I don’t go but we used to be season ticket holders for the theater. Linda @lindaler, you are home? I thought you were on the entire voyage. Have a great day everyone!
  12. Good morning everyone and Happy Friday. It’s been really cold, hopefully it’ll warm up soon. It usually does sometime late February or early March. The gem show is most of February and Rodeo is always the last full week with kids out of school on the Thursday and Friday. This year it’s next week. When I was working we were allowed to wear jeans on those days. I had a bolo tie that I would wear too. Happy memories of February. Great collection of days today and good quote from Mother Teresa. All worth celebrating. I’ve not been to Scabster or Scotland. I’d love to go someday. I like veggie sandwiches occasionally, sometimes I just don’t want meat. But I do like cheese on the sandwich. A local sandwich shop has a great version but it isn’t on a sub roll. This is the description: cream cheese, mayo, swiss cheese, american cheese, sprouts, lettuce, tomato, cucumber slices, avocado, onions on 12-grain Bread Yum! Now I want one for lunch. Thank you for the recipes Debbie @dfish and I agree, the two with eggplant look really good. Have a great day!
  13. Sonja, I find any public area on any BHB chilly and always take a sweater or jacket or scarf with me. It'll be a bit warmer because you will be in the Caribbean but the public areas will be cooler, IMHO.
  14. The other day lasagna was the meal of the day, Classic Lasagna. It is so regional and different depending upon where you are from and how your relatives made it. Personally I enjoyed the lasagna in the MDR and Canaletto. I prefer it with bechamela and not ricotta. Magnolia Network has a show called Recipe Lost and Found that did an episode on lasagna. It was very interesting. Even though the grandmother was from southern Italy she made hers with a sneaky sauce which ended up being bechamela, not ricotta which is what is used in southern Italy. Turns out that this was during the depression and the family had moved so she made it with what she had. If you can find the episode I highly recommend it. Jacqui @kazu, I understand what you mean about typing while recovering from an arm/elbow/hand injury. When I broke my hand in 2018 the ortho doc scoffed when I said I couldn't work because I couldn't type. He was like "WHY"? It's your hand not your fingers and it'll do a lot of good so go back to work and type away. Even though I was in a cast I did it and pushed myself. Best thing I did. Maybe my next cruise dream will have you and DH sailing through the Panama Canal! I have lived here since 1971 and remember many snows but not specifically 1977. I hope you enjoyed it! I also remember taking a lot of pictures with you and Pauline. You were both chatty and it felt like friends meeting up for a nice visit. I'll talk cruising but I'm not good with sports if it ever happens for real. You will appreciate the cast over a brace, at least I did. I am so sorry your niece is having trouble with work due to her seizures. My DD had epilepsy as a preteen and teen and I can't imagine her having to go to school after an episode. She missed a lot of school during that time. I hope she can find the right people to help her and the right job to understand.
  15. We did this itinerary last June on the Oosterdam. I pulled out my When & Where so I could tell you the times, tenders and Dressy Nights. Barcelona - all aboard 4:30pm, Casual Marseille - all aboard 5:30 pm, Casual Villefranche-sur-mer (not Cannes) - last tender was 4:30pm, Dressy Livorno - all aboard 6:30pm, Casual Civitavecchia - all aboard 6:30pm, Casual Naples - all aboard 5:30pm, Casual Taormina - last tender 10:30pm, Casual At Sea, Dressy Kerkira (Corfu) - all aboard 4:30pm, Casual Dubrovnik - all aboard 11:30pm, Casual Kotor - last tender 5:30, Casual - we were unable to tender here due to high winds so it ended up being a sea day At Sea - Casual Trieste - disembark The tender at Taormina was very easy and quick but I didn't go until early afternoon for a wine tour so don't know how it was earlier. Taxis are readily available at the tender drop off. The sail in and out of the Bay of Kotor is beautiful, so make sure to plan accordingly. Even though we couldn't tender the ship stayed in the bay for quite a while waiting for new crew to board. Montenegro is an important country for crew to join because no visas are required there. I hope this helps.
  16. Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday. Monday I went to the big screen to see Titanic for 3 1/2 hours. I knew it was remastered but didn’t know that it was in 3D until they gave me the glasses to wear. It was so good and after a while I got used to the 3D. I think only 3 people were there. I had a weird dream that my DD was going on a cruise but her friend didn’t give her any documents to board so I helped her print them out. Somehow I ended up on the cruise and met up with Graham and Pauline @grapau27, we had a great time! I woke up at 4 am and decided to check the weather. It said that it was snowing so I had to check. Yes it was but of course couldn’t see much in the dark. When I got up at 8:45 snow was on the rooftops and cars. It won’t last though. It’s the second snow this winter. It’s not much for those with heavy snow but it’s a big deal for us. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, I didn’t know about the I10 accident and looked it up. It was nitric acid. It’s been cleared and residents could start using heat at 9:00 last night. We aren’t in that area thank goodness. BTW, your Valentine cake looked lovely and congratulations on your new pans. I bought new cake pans during lockdown but still haven’t used them yet. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Have a great day everyone!
  17. Cute names! Debbie, the wings were very good and came out just as good at 325 degrees for 3 hours. I really didn’t notice the bourbon but it probably added something, I’d have to try them without it just to see if there is any difference. Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser, that picture is amazing!
  18. Debbie, I’m actually “speed” cooking them this time because I decided to make them so late, we eat our main meal at 2ish, so I only have about 3 hours total. I hope they come out as well. BTW, I’m trying your suggestion of adding some bourbon during the first step. I’ll let you know how they come out.
  19. It actually crossed my mind that it could have been caused by texting which is what my next door neighbors thought also. It was just such a weird spot for it to happen.
