  1. I tested positive in May on Quantum, my DH did not. I had to quarantine on the ship and then finish quarantine in a hotel before flying home. I was allowed to quarantine in our suite and my DH was moved to a balcony cabin because he was going to fly home as he needed to get back to work and we didn't want him to be stuck so far from home. We could had chosen to have him quarantine with me but then he would have been treated as positive. He wasn't allowed to go in the transfer to the airport hotel with me and had to disembark normally. I was retrieved by a crew member in a hazmat suit and taken off the ship to a public health official who was coordinating the positive passengers. So, yes, you can quarantine together but you will have your cards flagged and won't be able to change your mind once you decide to stay together.
  2. You do not need cell service to access you set sail pass if you save it in your apple wallet or files on your phone.
  3. I am sorry for your loss. Thank you for providing such a detailed explanation of the process. This is a great resource for those looking for information.
  4. The cruise line processes a credit card authorization every night. They weren't checking their onboard account daily, so did not know there was an issue until their credit card was denied in port. The charge was reversed on their onboard account once they got back on the ship but the authorization remained.
  5. As I say every time you post this, I never said anything about not having a paper set sail pass. I was answering the OP question.
  6. Yes, you can easily get another set sail pass if you have issues with your phone. It is not the crisis that some like to make it out to be, takes no time at all to get another. There is also no need for access to cellular to get to your set sail pass either, you can save it in your wallet on your phone if you have an iphone or take a screen shot of it and save it to pictures or files.
  7. I know you meant this for somewhere else but you might want to read recent reviews of that hotel to see if it has improved. We have stayed there many times and the last two times have not been good. We are going to stay somewhere else from now on when we sail from Port Everglades. Lobby is updated and decent but rooms are old and dirty. Our last room had a bathroom door that looked like it had been kicked in. Time before we ended up being comped because of a dangerous, broken desk chair in the room that we didn't know about until one of sat in it. I know you likely aren't going to stay there because that rate is crazy high but just beware if you find a better rate. I would question them to see if rooms have been updated prior to booking.
  8. Sauce is important. Our favorite pizza place is actually a Greek pizza place. It is family owned, the oldest son now runs the place but his Mom still comes in every morning to make the sauce, dough and salad dressings.
  9. This whole pizza discussion gets out of control every time it is brought up. Everyone is allowed their own opinion and no one has the right to question that, whether they are old, young, lived where there is good pizza, bad pizza or no pizza. There are many pictures of food that people post here that look delicious and others look gross to me, but I don't tell the people I know better and that is gross, I just scroll by. Some need to learn how to scroll.
  10. Just link the reservations and they will know they are all together before they even reach out to you.
  11. Wonder has a lot more for a 12 year old to do and there will be many kids on that ship on a holiday week cruise. Jewel has a kiddie pool and a slide that your 12 yr old will likely not care for as it is for little kids. If your husband is all about the ship, I would definitely pick Wonder as Jewel is a nice ship but has a lot less entertainment and food options compared to Wonder. Jewel has a much better itinerary though. I would have the family look at what each ship has to offer and then decide.
  12. They were likely told not to tell you so you didn't have the chance to ditch something that you should not have on you.
  13. The one I got is Skyway luggage. It gets decent reviews. Not high end or anything but it was free. I did put a strap on it when we flew to SEA and boarding the ship. I figure at least if the zipper goes, this will hold the halves together. I have duct taped the other bag and will keep it for now.
  14. I didn't buy hard sided luggage but I had a new Samsonite suitcase have a handle ripped off and Kohl's replaced it for free. First time using the new suitcase, it came off of a flight with a tear. Went to the Delta luggage office at BOS and showed them what it looked like. They replaced it on the spot. I had a choice of some off brand black soft luggage or a hard sided bag, name brand that escapes me right now. I figured I would try the hard sided one since my eggplant colored Samsonite was doomed. It worked well on our trip to Alaska, just have to get used to packing two halves instead of one deep cavity. We will see if it survives Oasis.
  15. I totally agree! I am amazed at what Ryan gets away with. I have watched all the other seasons of all the Below Deck series and none of the chefs did so little for breakfast. They all had beautiful fruit platters and pastries available as soon as people sat down. He throws together a sloppy plated breakfast that looks awful. He doesn't do desserts at dinner and rarely multiple courses. Don't get me started on his feet up on everything in the kitchen. That is just disgusting!
  16. Some colleges allow you to pay tuition with a credit card, my son's school didn't but the three schools my sister's kids went to did. Points paid for flights to go visit πŸ˜„
  17. The ship did not flag you, customs did and the ship had to turn you over to customs. Not sure what you expected the ship to do differently, they were following instructions and are trying to get all the passengers cleared so they can board the next sailing.
  18. The charge was made in error and was reversed on their onboard account the next day but the credit card authorization had been processed overnight. The article says they spent hours on the phone with the cruise line after their cruise but they didn't say anything about calling American Express. My first call would have been to American Express while on the ship to see if they could expedite the removal of the authorization. I would have followed up with a call immediately after the cruise line processed payment at the end of the cruise. We use one credit card to purchase the cruise and use for onboard expenses. That card comes with us on the cruise and stays in the safe the entire time and not used for anything else on the way to the cruise, during the cruise or on the way home. My DH and I each bring a different credit card for any purchases we make on the way to the cruise, in port, or on the way home from the cruise. If one of us loses their credit card or has it stolen, we at least have the other's card to cover any purchases. Mistakes happen. Hopefully, the people involved in this have learned to check their onboard account before going to bed at night.
  19. We prefer the newer, larger ships over the other ships. We have sailed all classes except Vision class but would pick Oasis class or Quantum class over any other class if the itinerary was the same. We like the newer cabin furnishings and design over the older, tired cabins. The larger ships have more entertainment options and dining venues. We don't use the water slides and a lot of the other new features of the newer ships but they are fun to watch at times. We have never been disappointed with our sailings on smaller ships, they are just different. We will sail smaller ships if they are doing an itinerary that we want to do. You will only be disappointed if you set your expectations too high.
  20. Have you tried submitting under your regular insurance first? I have been to medical more than I care to admit. I have submitted to travel insurance in the past but have also submitted to my health insurance. The bill I submitted had a Miami address on it and my insurance covered it as out of network and we just ate the rest of it. I forget how much it was for but I know it was less than what they charged Charlie as there were no labs. Our high medical costs from influenza on Anthem and covid on Quantum were no cost. They charged over $1,200 for my DH and I for visits and meds for the flu after telling us it was going to be no cost. Guest services corrected that onboard.
