  1. As a NY resident I agree! I’d visit frequently if she were near Boston so I could see her when I visit my sis 🙂
  2. If I didn’t mind the expense I’d book the Aqua suites to have the best of both worlds. Ocean on one side, people watching on the other.
  3. I’m sorry for my reaction. It’s been 35 years but still stings.
  4. I didn’t take it as disrespect at all, and probably would have not even thought twice about it had it been any other Iowa class ship besides the Iowa itself. On a happier note, we visited the Iowa about 10 years ago when it was docked in LA as a floating museum. They did an announcement when my husband boarded as they do for all who have served on her. He showed me the sites of all kinds of memories and mishaps…the ladder he fell down into the lower decks, the desk he was sitting on when a fellow sailor’s pistol accidentally discharged, missing his head by inches, and where in deck they did the blue nose and shellback ceremonies. It was one of my favorite tours of all time lol
  5. Thank you, you’re right it was a very dark time and a very different time from what it is now. There was an attempt to blame a couple of sailors but everyone knew better.
  6. Same here, my bladder prefers that the bed be near the bathroom. Also, I think it’s a lot more useful having the couch near the balcony so when the weather is bad you can still sit and enjoy the view throughout the day.
  7. Yes it would, that’s where my kids and grandkids live.
  8. I’m assuming you’re talking about the guns firing and not the 1989 turret explosion which killed 47 sailors. My husband was spared that tragedy by about 6 months but he lost a lot of friends.
  9. One solution is to book round trip with an open ended return until you find another transatlantic in the opposite direction. Or pick a random far out date and change it later. The change fee plus the round trip ticket can still be cheaper than the one way flight.
  10. There are lots of considerations that go into one cruise vs B2B when booking. There’s usually a difference in price, OBC and even room availability on cabins that are thus far empty which are impacted depending on how the cruise is booked. Interestingly the differences can go in either direction and can vary from ship to ship. So thrashers can pound salt.
  11. Yes Florida is pretty saturated and Princess has a very minimal presence in the northeast. This has caused me to sail Celebrity and Royal more often as a result 🤷🏻‍♀️
  12. lol I know right? Our kids missed two days before Christmas vacation for a Greece and Egypt cruise which was a bit more educational. Unfortunately though not as relevant to their schooling as I’d thought, since Ancient Greece and Egypt were apparently removed from the curriculum years ago.
  13. This was October 2021 so maybe it was restart related, but there was definitely repetition within the 7 days, and more than once. Based on your post I’m hoping that’s changed, as we’re sailing Symphony in September.
  14. WOW that is a lot of kids for a two week sailing. I remember a transatlantic on Pacific Princess that had one child. One. She was about ten and after a few days noticed there were no other kids which was weird for her. I think a lot of parents who take their kids out of school for long cruises don’t think of this ahead of time, but at least on this sailing they will have kids their own age around.
  15. While the food quality was decent in CK on Oasis, there was way too much repetition especially for a 7 day sailing. I remember a lunch menu being repeated for dinner two days later.
  16. They’re usually in the beverage centers at the buffet, next to the ice water dispenser. Given the lack of self serve beverages being reported on the Sun they may be few and far between.
  17. I think this picture might answer your question. It’s taken from the sphere looking out onto the balcony of 9361
  18. I also prefer Blu so I tend to go for Aqua Sky Suites.
  19. The only issue I had with the CL on Oasis, other than the stairs getting old by the third day, was Deck 17 being so far away from everything you’d want to do on the ship. Also there’s no quick running up to your room if you need to change, grab something or drop anything off. Celebrity suites are a lot more convenient to the remainder of the ship. I mean if you’re just going to eat and drink all day and nothing else, the CL is ok but not if you’re interested in activities. Everything else as far as dining, service, amenities I found to be comparable. Size wise I’d compare the CL to a Celebrity Suite.
  20. On the March 9 thread Canadian Burger said that both decks are accessible by either side. ETA: I’ve got to learn to read the entire thread before responding 🙂
  21. I’m curious as well. There’s a part of the balcony that wouldn’t fit a human let alone a wheelchair…and I mean any human, not just a cruise passenger shaped human like me lol. That seems a waste of space as it could have gone to making the cabana wider.
  22. 😂😂😂 Our kids and grandkids all live there with the youngest being 4 year old twins. This will be their first cruise and we wanted to keep it short and simple with a quick trip to the port. NCL is coming to JAX in 2026 so there may be a new partner soon lol.
  23. I’m a cruise bigamist….or maybe even a trigamist. Ok hell I’ve got a ship in every city. I sail Celebrity in Athens, Princess between Rome and Fort Lauderdale, Carnival in Jacksonville and RC in Bayonne.
  24. That doesn’t seem like much to ask. There are always extra rooms that are not filled for just this kind of purpose. I’m sorry this happened to you and that there are people here giving you a hard time.
  25. Some people can’t handle anything negative about a cruise line. Like Celebrity is their boyfriend.
