  1. Again, you don’t have to like or feel sorry for the OP to recognize poor customer service. People on this thread are making it about the OP rather than the conduct of Celebrity, as if using the word flunky negates the act.
  2. Thanks for the warning, I haven’t seen their videos. There was one posted on crusideckplans that didn’t even show the bathroom or balcony, spent may too much time with the hair dryer and threw in a lot of promo crap.
  3. Ok this I think I figured out…..he says “ocean view balcony” as opposed to a balcony facing the cabana deck. Probably taking the term from RC Oasis class ships, which is how they distinguish between outside balconies facing the ocean as opposed to inner balconies facing Central Park or Boardwalk.
  4. His videos always show way too much of him talking and not enough of what he is there to film. Most YouTubers can give commentary while filming but he seems to need a lot of face time.
  5. From the pictures I’ve seen of surrounding cabins, all Deck 9 balconies are open on top and visible from the balconies directly above on Deck 10.
  6. A flunky is just someone who performs menial tasks, it doesn’t mean stupid as in flunking a test or a class…and the OP didn’t call them flunkies on the phone. You don’t have to feel bad for the OP to recognize poor customer service. Those are two different things.
  7. You’re probably remembering one of the earlier promotional videos where the animated renderings did in fact show that the interior cabana doors would also fold away. In fact, one of the selling points for me was that presentation, which specifically said that you could use the cabana to make either the balcony or the cabin larger depending on which doors you opened. Obviously this part of the design was walked back….along with the better quality cabana furniture, wooden dividers between cabana deck balconies and clear rather than blue glass on deck 9.
  8. I’m leaning toward the Ascent at this point, the only thing holding me back is that a cabana mini on Sun for 15 days is the same price as the SV on Ascent for only 13 days. This is with Plus on the Sun and AI on Ascent, so there’s also gratuities to consider which are no longer included fleetwide on X.
  9. I saw some videos of those SV balcony cabins and was pretty impressed with the size and layout.
  10. I’m coming to the conclusion that the choices for minis will be either a cramped room or a cramped balcony. I really don’t like the closets in the hallway and miss the open closet by the bathroom that was on the Grand class. The non-cabana minis have the closets next to the bed but the balconies are ledge style like on Royal class. Right now I’m trying to decide between Sun and the Celebrity Ascent, both for a westbound transatlantic in fall of 2025. I managed to book a Sunset Veranda on Ascent which is a find since Edge class ships have few true balconies, but I’m also considering Sun with a cabana mini on the sphere or a standard mini towards the aft, near the rear public decks to make up for the minimal balcony. Decisions decisions lol.
  11. Interesting comparison. When you say the inside doors to the cabana don’t fold as on Deck 9, do you mean the doors between the cabana and cabin, or cabana and balcony? The first promo video during the build showed a schematic where both sets of doors could be folded away so that the cabana could either extend the size of the cabin or the balcony.
  12. Agree there’s not much if anything in the way of damages. Though in the name of good customer service, I thought the one poster’s suggestion of still offering free laundry and specialty dining perks was a good compromise.
  13. There in lies the problem. There is no such thing as a one-way contract, or it isn't a contract. Some of the posters keep saying it is intended to benefit the cruise line only, not the passenger. First of all, such a "contract" would be impossible. Second, just because a contract is intended to only benefit one side, doesn't mean the other side can't ever benefit from various clauses in the contract, again, assuming it is a true contract. If a company came to me and said " I want to write up a contract that only benefits me in any situation but can't work against me in any way" I'd have to say sorry, what you are describing is not a contract. ETA: Also, if Celebrity in their Move Up rules stated something like "Carrier has the right to revoke the upgrade even after the Move Up bid is accepted" then there would be notice and acceptance of that term. There is no such language in the T/C and cobbing it together from multiple clauses doesn't always work
  14. Filming a movie about people stalking penthouse passengers.
  15. What you are highlighting is not what happened here. Correction of Errors is for those cruises as we have seen where the fare is listed either with a typo or otherwise incorrect fare. The passenger books the cruise either knowing full well that is not the price, or being extremely naive and not knowing, before the cruise line has a chance to correct the listing on their website. In those cases, the cruise line doesn't cancel the cruise, they contact the passenger or TA and advise of the correct price, giving them the opportunity to pay the difference. This was a Move Up offer. There was no listed price. It was a bid within a range as an additional supplement to the fare. The OP's credit card was already charged for the full amount. I don't think calling the OP "upset" when the post you have quoted is simply making a contracts argument is necessary or helpful to your position.
  16. I would order that just to check out the glass and offer cash for it lol
  17. Better get writing fast if you want make 1000! We will all help as much as we can 🙂
  18. Come now…Let’s not get carried away with dramatic assumptions. Penthouse suites are at the end of the hallway and don’t lend themselves to people just hanging around unnoticed waiting for passengers to come out of their room. You don’t have to feel sorry for the OP but there’s no reason to turn this into a Lifetime movie either.
  19. Exactly. What some of the apologists don’t understand that once an offer is accepted, it is no longer an offer. It is a binding agreement. That is Contracts 101.
  20. I’ve actually been surprised at how well the photo taken by the check in staff comes out. Much better than the horrible selfie taking during online check in. Interestingly, when I upload a photo during online check in, it is accepted at the pier on Royal Caribbean but not on Celebrity. This was true for the same photo used on both my October RC cruise and February Celebrity cruise, and both were in Athens. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  21. Which makes what happened to the OP even more sketchy. Celebrity doesn’t run Move Up but they sure seem capable of unraveling it when they want to. Isn’t that part of “running it?” This appears to be happening even though the regulations are pretty clear that once a Move Up bid is accepted it can’t be revoked. There are no provisions saying that Celebrity can back out of the deal.
  22. A lot of people on CC don’t understand the difference between what’s allowed in the contract and good customer service.
  23. Thank you so much for taking the time to look into this. I’m glad to see there are a lot of out of the way public decks on the ship.
  24. Great thread with lots of information, thank you for all you’ve shared with us. I saw you verified the aft decks with the stairs are public and accessible. Have you checked out the forward decks as well? It looks like decks 10-14 have doors leading out to them so I was curious.
