  1. There are many Grand Voyages that are not repositioning, for example several cruise lines offer Grand Voyages that circle South America, Africa or Australia. There are other formats too, like Indian Ocean sailings, Pacific Rim/Asia focused cruises. I don't consider transatlantic/transpacific cruises to be Grand Voyages on their own. The bold is mine but At7Seas mentioned repositioning cruises as a version of a Grand Voyage.
  2. As stated above none of the balconies are obstructed. That room will have metal on a small, triangualar area of the balcony as it is near the front of the ship. See the photo below.
  3. It's a shame you were delayed into Sri Lanka. I love how you are able to go with the flow; recognizing that life happens and nothing is perfect. You still managed lovely photos; thanks for sharing 😀
  4. If they tell you they will delay past Dec 8th get it in writing/email. Just my two cents.
  5. Thanks for continuing your review. I am sue many agree: Better late than never! I also appreciate your comparison pictures of the meals; and I agree with you the presentations, while nice, were a bit lacking on your latest cruise.
  6. I, too, like printed copies of critical items. I also email them to myself so I can access them anywhere. (Belt and suspenders are great 😜 )
  7. Indeed. I am, however, far more interested in how things function. Until I am aboard Nova myself I am glad for balanced reviews and comments (including the one you provided a couple months back). Reviews let me know if there may be something I can prepare myself for and/or adjust, or simply look forward to enjoying myself. It's not like any comments on this board would lead me to cancel a cruise.
  8. Your opinion definitely matters. You are a regular poster here; having the opinion of a "known" person who sails SS regularly is very important. I look forward to any comments you have on Nova as I will be sailing her next year.
  9. I had the same feeling about the horse show, but went along with my travel buddy's choice since she accommodated so many of mine. I am glad I gave it a try; and I've learned to lean into new things a bit more.
  10. The Swordfish looks wonderful. I, too, make mango salsa and sometimes pineapple. I found the my video I am pretty sure I went to that same horse farm last year (with a different cruise line) -- I agree the dressage/flamenco so was really lovely. IMG_5069.MOV
  11. A thread on this topic from a few months ago.
  12. Charla is always very good about coming back to fill in the missing pieces after she's settled at home and cleared a few things at work. I am sure she will update this review in a few days.
  13. I always love sailing under a bridge. Nice photos.
  14. So very glad I had lunch before catching up on your posts! I just made note of the restaurant -- definitely need to stop there on my next visit to Taormina.
  15. You've had what I would call a perfect day. The photos are lovely!
  16. It's a shame you're there on a Friday, but definitely better than just another sea day. I agree with @Jim_Iain That is a nice looking backpack. Thanks for the link.
  17. If you're looking for things to do in Muscat I highly recommend visiting the Grand Mosque. It is absolutely beautiful! Looking forward to following along on your cruise.
  18. Really glad that was settled quickly. I find all things flight related to be the greatest stress these days.
  19. I had the same problem (in the US) but assumed the cruise was sold out. Hopefully, the problems have been sorted.
  20. I did the Taj Mahal pre-cruise trip earlier this year. It was well organized and followed the described itinerary fully. We stayed in the named hotels and every detail was taken care of. I am sure you will enjoy your trips.
  21. I think you are correct; it makes sense to finalize the location based on numbers as 200 would not fit directly in front of the library. I hope you get lucky with that. Enjoy your cruise on Endeavour.
  22. I just posted above I was on the Spirit and we did have our event at the library. The ship was nearly full but only about 100 passengers attended the concert. I paid $229. We didn't have a dinner but there were nibbles provided -- olives, chips and something else I cannot recall (and of course wine!).
  23. My evening was just as you describe and I was on the Spirit in April. The ship was nearly full but only about 100 passengers attended the concert. I had assumed it would be at the larger theater site so was happy to be at the library instead.
  24. I did the evening concert earlier this year. We had the site to ourselves. As the sun went down the lights came up and it was just beautiful. The performance was at the library -- see the photo below. I would definitely do this again if I had the opportunity.
