  1. I am pretty sure the Pacific Explorer Balcony 4 berths have no space under the bed because the top bunk lifts up from the bottom bunk, sort of like the bottom bunk is a bed base when used as singles or a queen and the top bunk is lowered onto the bottom bunk?
  2. I have a balcony on Pacific explorer, some deck plans show my cabin 4 berth others not. cabin 11175. Question: if these 2-4 berth have the lift up bunks can you get your steward to store cases? The extra side cupboards for these type 4 berth look too small for our luggage cases. Cheers
  3. We always eat late so should we pre book our venues? I am not a fan of pre booking either! we always have an 8.30pm slot. Was it School Holidays? Usually during school holidays the earlier sittings were always taken first? Can I book the pantry for the entire cruise in one hit? if so I could cancel the odd night I wanted to eat in Dragon Lady or Angelo,s. Cheers
  4. Just old fashioned cruisers 'we are' who loved fixed dining with table guests who only just tolerated me then had to accepted! lol I have life long cruising friends from accidental USA cruise shared tables but alas those days seem to be long gone!
  5. So if you dont like your choices can you not just order another selection?
  6. Lol we always eat dinner on a cruise at around 8.30pm, this started when Trad dinning was still around and even with MTD early seating was always snapped up first by the avid show goers. Its not like we will go hungry between Lunch and late dinner but from memory P&O didnt have a buffet at dinner time.
  7. We see INXS in Adrien's Night Club in Northbridge Perth 1981 and they were selling self Made recordings on Old C60/C30 cassettes! lol We thought they were called "Ink_sed" not "In Excesses" lol Good old days lol and yes I bought the C30 it was cheaper than the C60 lol
  8. Thanks, shared table isn't necessary as there are only 2 of us but we used to have a ball on shared Dinner tables, not everyone's cup of tea but we found it fun with late dining.
  9. Best time to book or are later sittings walk in? We have always preferred a large share table for dinner even on carnival USA and RCC but given the main dinning room on Explorer looks more like a cafe I suppose there is no point? On a 12 nighter I don't want to commit to any venue in advance or when first boarding. Does P&O Close the Buffet for dinner like they used to? Its that long since I have done a P&O cruise that even though on my last 2 it had become ATdinning the staff preferred and allowed it if you booked same time same table like we had for Trad dinning. Thanks
  10. Look its like this- I work outside I build roads in Perth and the weather report is ridicules, you need to take an average, 1mm of rain is almost non existent and a typical rainy day is of 10mm throughout the day, This year in June is the only year that interrupted any outside work in Perth for me for many years. July 2021 was the year and month of my 60th so I remember it well and it wasn't particularly wet. Your experience my experience both subjective.
  11. I think Perth may well include both Rockingham and Mandurah to be honest, same as Quins Rock or Yanchep the other way. For deliveries Mandurah and Yanchep are Metro KM,s
  12. Does P&O still have Formal nights?
  13. Who has done the Freo to Bali return? One of our most memorable cruises to date even though it was on old Pacific Sun! lol Climate was the best part, Lombok seller hoards not so much!
  14. Good to know because it can get very complicated! I basically spent hours and hours trying to ensure a relatives travel that they couldn't be bothered to do themselves. Never again!
  15. I have lived in Perth since 1972 and I have to say I have never experienced anywhere near 26 days of rain in a single month lol I have worked "Outside" So I can confidently say your mood set your tone! Windy is in Summer not winter lol
  16. Pity in 2012 it was as neat as a pin! One of our most memorable cruises and ship experience. We all get older and so do the ships, so thanks for the heads up.
  17. Who can resist the $1 pp deposit! Feb 2025 Freo to Singapore via Indonesia and Malaysia in a Mini suite. I know P&O au ships are getting old and tired but we have been on much bigger ships and don't really mind aged smaller (unless its just good memories of PS &PD)? With our new found transition to retirement its a no brainer when a mini suite costs not much more than a second rate room in any post Covid WA holiday destination. We prefer to leave from Freo because we are sick of flying and the hassles that come with it, I don't mind flying one way but both ways for us Sangropers has worn thin over the years. looks like I am already going into "Slow Mo" at 63 lol
  18. Just found out from a fellow worker who just returned from Bali Sunday the $50 VOA is back in place! apparently the free VOA wasn't actually free it was just combined into the air ticket for simplicity but they have gone back to pay on arrival system.
  19. Good to know but I guarantee P&O wont allow private tours!
  20. New Zealand and Australia share all criminal information at a Federal level and some with GB but not necessarily at a local level although your name may be flagged on the passenger list so I would not take the chance. USA and Canada share Criminal information and western countries share all criminal information for those of sex crimes child abuse and murder crimes/ charges. There are differences in law and in common law a "Spent conviction" is classed as no conviction if a prison sentence was 5 years or less unless it is one of the above mentioned crimes. If applying for ESTA (USA) Those with a "spent conviction" in a common law country are within their rights to say NO to arrests charges and convictions questions on the ESTA. Had to find this info for a family member who wanted to attend our Wedding in Vegas and managed to have a decent chat with Australian Federal police about the issues because an arrest or charge stays with you in USA forever even if found not guilty or charges are dropped, They have no spent convictions.
  21. When I did Komodo a few years ago on P&O private tours were not allowed it had to be a ship tour only or stay onboard so things must have changed allowing private tours! I would rather not do the Dragon tour again as I am sure they dragged them down the hill against their will and dopped them up lol
  22. We haven't been to Bali for 3 years but for a few years before covid they dropped the $50us VOA for Australians, my last 2 visits via air were visa cost free so they must have re instated it?
  23. We have done 2 repositioning cruises on RCL Freo to Vietnam and Freo to Singapore via Vietnam and we love lots of sea days! You get what you pay for when you are at sea all the time and it makes the drinks package worth while too lol My SIL did the Sydney to Hawaii repositioning cruise on RCL and loved it, I think there was only 2 stops.
  24. Yes I can see the visa charge if the emigration have to get onboard before they reach Indonesia! I am pretty sure we had to hand over our passports when embarking the ship for Vietnam and it took all that time to get everyone's passport checked and stamped by the Viet Emigration that must have been onboard at Freo? We all had to visit the emigration officials during the trip to be checked against our passports. Our first stop is Komodo and they have no emigration there to be able to issue Visa on arrival for that many people so CruiseLine will have to pay for a bulk visitor visa I suppose? Thanks for the info, it wont be a surprise payment now. 🙂
  25. One night is enough to see the entire Town Pearl lugger docks and the huge beach with enough time to visit Coles and the Pub lol But if you want to include a camel ride and Stairway you need a few days.
