  1. Yup, different priorities. I drive a 10 year old Toyota and the one before that was 19 when I finally sold it. Could not care less about what I drive as long as it means no car payments. And we live in the same 1600 sq ft Cape we bought in 1992. It was big enough for our family so I certainly don’t need anything bigger now that it’s just the 2 of us. From the day I started working (in the Stone Age), I had money taken out to purchase Savings Bonds. Remember those? By the time my 2 kids went to college, I had amassed enough to pay for both. I have funds put away in many places for many purposes. One of them is our vacation account. Our tax refunds, my little retirement part time job & my annuity payments go in there. Somehow that well never runs dry.
  2. And you don’t have to spend $20,000 to stay in a suite. I think you are using the extreme end of the scale. I stay in a suite every cruise, probably twice a year and, with all the related expenses, don’t spend $20,000 total.
  3. But no, not bragging. Personally, I use coupons!!
  4. Was there not the liquid shampoo/conditioner/body wash dispensers in both the tub and shower areas?
  5. On Explorer in October we had a beautiful table by a window. At least 6-8 feet between us and surrounding tables.
  6. Yes and if that time didn’t work, I wouldn’t choose MTD. I do understand that there are serious issues with MDR as a whole and MTD in particular. I am just fortunate that I have not had any.
  7. I book our MTD reservations as soon as we book the cruise (booked last August for the May cruise). I can always move things around later but I have the time I want to start.
  8. Probably not. This gives me time to hang out on the pool deck til 5 and get cleaned up for dinner. We regularly eat between 6:30-7 at home.
  9. I have always chosen the earliest time available so 6:30-6:45. We have 6:45 in May.
  10. I guess the Royal dining gods just like me. 2 before, 2 after shutdown all MTD. Always same table and waitstaff. Never packed in like sardines, longest wait 15 minutes as early diners were taking a little longer but we were offered another table if we didn’t want to wait. Hope I didn’t just tempt fate for our May Harmony cruise!
  11. Looks like a water park somewhere in Asia.
  12. Coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade probably a fruit punch of some kind for complementary drinks. No need to purchase loungers on Coco Cay. They are plentiful and complementary. There are many upgrades you can purchase but none are essential to have a great cruise.
  13. Ok a who gets to decide what a really good reason is? What if we figure out what the good reasons are and all start using them? Really? A permission slip from the hall monitor??
  14. If it started at 5:30, the line would start forming at 5.
  15. It’s not a hotel, it’s a shuttle service. SAS Transportation (ridesas.com). Their website lists all Ft Lauderdale hotels from which they pick up.
  16. This is what we call making sauce (it’s a 20 qt pot)
  17. Our shuttle from Ft Lauderdale to POM is only $15 pp. easily covered by the cheaper hotel rates.
  18. On our first cruise in 2002, that’s how WJ was for dinner. We ate there every night. The entrees were just about the same as in the MDR and the atmosphere was less stuffy.
  19. My lasagna sauce is also a little different than my regular home made. That’s too thick. My lasagna needs a looser, thinner sauce. I rarely eat Italian at a restaurant of any kind as it doesn’t live up to my family’s cooking. But the small nonno & nonna shops are usually the best. When visiting my daughter, we always stop at a little place in a strip mall in Altamonte Springs. You’d never know it was there and the food is fabulous.
  20. Exactly and so what one might consider “good” ethnic food varies even from within that ethnicity.
  21. Gotta totally agree with you. I am up & at the solarium by 8ish, grabbing a chair for hubby & I. He’s there between 8:30-9 and then we’ll grab breakfast. Upon return, our butts are in or near those loungers all day.
  22. You could say that of any ethnic food both at sea and on land. Being Italian, sauce takes all day and too many ingredients to list to be made properly. The sauces I’ve tried don’t come close. But the chefs weren’t trained by my NONNA! It’s all frame of reference.
  23. Please see my post #33. You don’t need ANY information to select arrival times on the app. Click check in, click on arrival time (the 2nd in a list of 3 options) select arrival time. Go back and repeat for everyone you are checking in. Close app, go to bed. Complete travel information at your leisure using either the app or the website as you choose. Once travel information is entered, you will have access to your set sail pass.
  24. Other adult should not make a difference. Her relationship as your daughter is the only thing that counts. When you board, see the Loyalty Ambassador to have her status fixed.
  25. Oh I totally agree with you in that a policy that is not enforced is essentially not a policy. Again, I am responding to the post asking if and where the no shorts is listed. It is listed on the app. I don’t care, I don’t follow it, policy or not. Just showing it does exist.
