    Costa Maya is worth a stop. But you have to get out of the port are. Keep walking. Turn left. Grab a taxi and take it to the Malecon. Endless beach bars.

    I would never ever ever cruise on carnival. While I realize there is a price point I would rather spend a LOT more and cruise on more civilized lines such as Seabourn and Regent. No kids either. Maybe one or two

    You could have swam in the ocean. I would not have rushed back to the tourist port area. You had already paid the taxi, an exploration of the Malecon (aka “bike path”) would have been fun and there would have been a beach you could have used. much more interesting than the port that was created for tourists. Next time.
