  1. I prepaid my gratuities and they are still charging me $16 per day on the Koningsdam.
  2. I’m guessing paperwork and approval was done long before the issues on that cruise. I did see the fake service dog sitting in the doll stroller with the proud mama today.
  3. Good afternoon, everyone! A second dose of Imitrex pushed the headache to the background so Sue could function. Hopefully there will be no rebound headache tomorrow as she will be in the ukulele performance on the World stage. I did see the fake service dog in the doll stroller with its proud mama. Much discussion in the elevator about it.
  4. Good day from the Koningsdam. It is a little rocky, but not as bad as the other night. So far I am handling it okay. Sue is in bed with a bad migraine. She did ask for coffee, so that is a good sign. The Imitrex hasn’t helped yet.
  5. @marshhawk Annie, hugs. It was a tough day. @Quartzsite Cruiser Lenda, it would be impossible to embarrass ourselves at trivia. You can't get a negative score.
  6. Seas are much calmer today. My room steward said he’s been working the ships for 9 years and never got sick from the seas until last night. We had a great lunch in the Pinnacle Grill and then went to watercolor class . Here’s my jellyfish.
  7. I think Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser and I did quite well at trivia! That was one of my all time high scores! This is my watercolor jellyfish. I’ll entertain offers greater than $2.
  8. Good morning from a rocking and rolling Koningsdam. Sue ventured out for coffee and reported conditions are much better. I’m feeling better after a good night’s sleep. I tried a corner of a roll that we got last night and it is doing ok. So, I’m going to be adventurous and try breakfast. Thanks for all the well wishes and suggestions. I’m still taking the Bonine.
  9. We embarked on Tuesday and found the port agents to be very pleasant. They do their best when a large group arrives and all need/want special consideration.
  10. We are really rocking and rolling tonight. I am usually not bothered by the seas, but Sue and I are both miserable. Funny part is that we were fine one minute and down the next. We tried the green apples and bonine and neither are helping. Otherwise, it has been a nice day. We went to the port talks, ukulele lessons, Aloha Sunset performance, and a great mariners lunch with Sharon @Sharon in AZ and her DH.
  11. I normally am not bothered by the seas but both of us are miserable tonight. We tried green apples and that was a mistake. I'm hoping things get better. I pray that is the case for this cruise.
  12. Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit. Greetings from the Koningsdam. As Lenda @Quartzsite Cruiser said, we had a bit of a wild ride last night. I rather enjoyed it. We now have some blue sky and sunshine!! We’re settling in to shipboard life quite nicely. We enjoyed the comedian last night and have pleasant table mates for dinner.
  13. Greetings from the Koningsdam! Internet has been awful today. I finally got on CC about 2pm and read the first page of the Daily and it dropped off again. Kind of a lazy day today. Just what we needed! @bennybear my condolences on the loss of your friend.
  14. We are onboard! Met Sharon in the terminal, Dixie is on her way, and Lenda is downtown close by. The Dailyites will ride tonight!
  15. Thank you, all, for the wonderful non voyage wishes. It will be spectacular! @RedneckBob flattery will get you everywhere! Thank you! You bet we’re a crew and everyone will know it by the time we disembark! We’ll celebrate croissants tomorrow at breakfast with a couple of the chocolate ones along with our eggs Benedict. So, so, so excited!
  16. @grapau27 Thank you for the well wishes. @JazzyV Vanessa, no sitting around today! We walked down to Seaport Village and found a great store where we bought new outfits. Over 10,000 steps by the time we got back and my back and neck felt every one of them. A nice libation at lunch helped with that. @Cruzin Terri Have a great cruise! Thanks to our substitutes! You are both doing a wonderful job! I did get my pool time in and that helps the aches and pains greatly.
  17. Off to a great start!! I hope all your days are as great.
  18. Good morning from San Diego! We hit the hay pretty early last night so we’re up early. No real plans for today other than more time in the pool. Happy Birthday to Melisa @HAL Sailer! The meal looks great! I’d use any part but the legs.
  19. I wish we could! Like Lenda we have a tour that is 4 hours and starts at 12:30. We are all checked in at our hotel and I had a swim in the pool. That felt so, so good!! Linner was good as well. We had the Brussels sprouts starter and I had lobster tacos and a cucumber jalapeño margarita. I had to try it.
  20. Tina, have a wonderful cruise!! We’ll be there next year. I am excited for you as this cruise ranks up there with the best of the best. I did it in 2011 and have always wanted to go back,
  21. Flight attendants are now preparing the cabin for arrival. I am ready to exit this tin can.
  22. In the air on the way to San Diego. It took forever for de-icing, but that is a critical part of the process.
  23. Good morning from the Detroit airport! No problems getting to the airport this morning and the first flight was on time and smooth. Knowing we were heading to a cruise made it a little easier to jump out of bed at 3:30 am! Fabulous job, Eva @superoma! Wishing you all a wonderful day!
  24. @ger_77 I hope the new regimen works for Maurice and his symptoms subside until a more permanent solution is found. I'll be thinking about both of you. @Vict0riann Wow on those nosebleeds. I hope the specialist can find a solution. @Cruising-along Happy Birthday to Amanda! I am all packed and the suitcases are in the car. All we have to do is get up, get dressed and drive away . Thank you again to Eva @superoma for being my substitute. You will all be in very capable hands!
  25. When I feel things are going poorly, I always think of Anne Frank. If Anne could think that most people were good, given her situation, I can have hope. When I traveled to Europe with students we often visited both Anne Frank's house and Dachau. Both were very sobering experiences. At Dachau there was an elderly man who used to direct traffic in the parking lot. He had been imprisoned in Dachau and dedicated his life to teaching others so that they might not repeat that history. I also visited a concentration camp in Alsace, France named Natzweiler Struthof. They have a museum and you can visit the memorial at the foot of the hill. The day I was there was bitterly cold and I could only think of those poor people in those thin pajama outfits standing in the cold for hours.
