  1. And you’d be there on hand ready to console him, if Gooch were beastly to him. 😀
  2. Good gracious. That’s half a team, though I’m surprised Gower can bring himself to speak to Gooch.
  3. I dont think it is customs, is it? I think it is immigration.
  4. Fine, so long as it makes you happy. I don’t suppose many others notice either way.
  5. Just leave it to hang. It’ll be fine. I haven’t ironed anything since 1991, and nobody has noticed.
  6. As someone (you?) said elsewhere, it couldn’t be less helpful if it tried. While it is true that I wouldn’t dream of booking a cruise because of the possible speakers, the pleasures of anticipation would undoubtedly be much enhanced for me and, I suspect, HH by the knowledge that, say, David Gower was to speak.
  7. I think the lack of ability to make dining choices may be because of your guarantee booking. After all, there is always the very unlikely possibility you will end up in the Grills and won’t need to make a choice. 😀
  8. Apparently not. There is another thread about this somewhere.
  9. Did you try the balcony? Strangely, that was the only place it worked in our cabin on Deck 9.
  10. I imagine that this is entirely a matter of taste, which varies considerably. Seems nice to me.
  11. I have seen people drinking champagne for breakfast - on a birthday. This was presumably by prior arrangement, like all special requests.
  12. This can be a very expensive mistake.😀 We first went on Cunard in1997, and loved it, and our bank balances have never recovered.
  13. I imagine there is a fair amount of plate wastage. Is that the right term?
  14. I think you may well want to wrap up very warmly and go out onto the terraces to admire the spectacular views as you sail along fjords.
  15. In fact, given we are tackling meals of three courses, I would describe most of the portions as rather too large, if anything.
  16. And of course, there is history to consider. Austria is currently landlocked, but until 1918, included Trieste, so where does that leave it?
  17. If you think the portions are small, try the Beef Wellington or Ducking à l’orange off the alc.
  18. And presumably a fair number of the 62 unseen are landlocked and therefore impossible, unless Cunard takes to river cruising.
  19. Giving rise to the celebrated Q and A: Why is England so cold? Because she left her cape in Cornwall. (Wouldn’t work this summer.)
