Well...although it appears that the Joy will still be sitting in Manila bay in the middle of July unloading crew, NCL is still selling tickets on her for Alaska cruises starting Sept. 7th, with a stop in Canada.  She is still listed on the NCL site with Alaska cruises for the whole month of Sept.  And I just got an NCL email reminding me to book quickly because the 5 bennies package is only good until June 30th.

NCL never ceases to amaze me with their ability to confuse (aka mislead !!!)  us .

The ships might be clean and healthy and the crew too ... but it’s the traveling to the port to board the ship ... airports are hot spots - many unknown travelers coming in from who knows where they have been.

So, cruise at your own risk ... the 72 hour certificate of one’s healthy and covid-free state won’t help other pax if you get infected on your way to the ship.

    Very true !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cruise with 3000+ people in close quarters....very likely chance of someone testing positive. And what port, in the US or abroad, is going to let them dock after what has happened these last 4 months?

I agree.  While I love to cruise, I did cancel my reservation for November.  I will wait and see how things develop, but have no intention of sailing anytime soon.

So, as I said earlier, I own 122 shares of NCL stock, after purchasing when price was real low.  My question is, what do I need to do to get my $100 OBC prior to my cruise in March?  I know it says send NCL a brokerage statement or a proxy card, along with the benefit request form, but what exactly do you sent them?  I have my account with TD Ameritrade; can I just print something out from the site?  I dont see any options for that.  And How soon can I send in that form.  NCL site says "at least __ days before the cruise", but could I send it as early as now?  It seems to me NCL would want to make sure you dont just buy the stock one day, send in the form and proof of ownership, then sell it after getting the credit.  Any insight on that?

I do not have an answer to your question about selling before sailing...but I can tell you...I usually download form online, and send that back with my brokerage statement (redacted except for NCL info)  as soon as I book.

I'm Platinum Plus, do not have any cruises booked, don't have any FCC on account, and did get the survey.   I got about half way though it and quit.

Same with me re: status...got survey ..but I did not even bother to open it......did one another time...and took forever....not worth my time...

  6. I surely can see a problem if any place or ship has an outbreak and any port denying docking.  This is as another has said.."uncharted waters".   I cancelled my November multi port Caribbean   cruise because I did not feel comfortable re: ship virus preparations/precautions AND possibility of port closures or being "stranded" at sea. I cruise to enjoy..not to worry. And all the "maybe scenarios"  have me worried.

  7. I have reluctantly  decided to cancel my cruise .  I booked last August...was to sail  this November. Since , way before final payment..at least I will get my deposit back .  Even if NCL is sailing this fall, I do not feel comfortable sailing (-especially with pre existing conditions which put me at risk) .  And the way things are going..not so sure there will be cruising out of NYC in the fall.  The NJ/NY area is under lots of emergency protocols and it will be a very long time before this area is anywhere near "normal".

    I am truly disappointed .

I cancelled 2 cruises today and they said refund will take up to 90 days.

Not sure if they will really refund.

But My credit card company says refund should not take more than 15 days, after that i can chargeback.

    I will probably do that.

Thanks...but I must be really dense...I just looked up T&Cs for my cruise (booked 8/2019  and it says

"Period before departure notification of cancellation received by us Cancellation charge per person cancelling* more than 42 days Loss of deposit 41 - 30 days 35% 29 - 15 days 50% 14 - 8 days 80% 7 days and less+ 95%"

How would I loose deposit ..cancelling months ahead??????

  9. OP--I know it was a hard decision...but you did the right thing.  Sadly, I will probably be canceling our November cruise. I have a few months before final payment..but it is not looking good.  Even if things settle down, I worry about the possible of virus resurgence in the fall.

Just really annoyed, as  I have a good price with lots of extra perks which I worked hard on to get!

  10. My cruise is not till November 30th...so I have time  (as final payment not due till August 2). If this virus follows other patterns, it surely has the ability to flare up again in the fall.  I will have to make an informed decision  this summer. .  BUT--as a senior with some medical problems , my odds of canceling are high.
