We had a good bit of rain yesterday, with some local flooding of roads and some unfortunate folks with feet of water in their basements. I'm glad I got that roof patching! I also got the quote for a new roof and eek! We're supposed to get rain off and on for the next few days. Shaking my head at a news story. The police are looking for a grandmother. A 10 month old GC she was watching had a drug overdose, and a 3 and 9 year old tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. She took off as EMT's were treating the baby with Naloxone. They found drugs, syringes, and other drug paraphernalia in the home. I slept 11 hours and it was 9:30 when I woke up this morning! Late lunch was good with BFF; we were the only patrons in the restaurant, until someone came in to sit at the bar. I'm headed to see the Eye doctor shortly, as my glasses I got last year don't seem to work and gave me headaches so I stopped wearing them. I may also get my labwork done, since I'm still fasting, instead of tomorrow. @dfish Good news on HAL at least looking for the right thing. Good morning. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. I like nuts and will snack on almonds. My floors are clean, so not today. People with Cloves Syndrome can have a tough time of it. Excellent quote. The meal sounds good. I like the drink. I'll pass on the white wine. I haven't been to Japan. It's due to be really hot here today and cooling centers are opening. I am soooo sleepy! I've been fighting with Windows 11 on my PC; the last couple of updates wouldn't install. I saw others with issues when I searched, and tried a few things that didn't work. I didn't want to get too technical, but last night decided to reinstall Windows from an ISO. Of course I started at 11, so I was up until 1AM to watch things. That got one update in there. This AM I did a manual update rather than using the PC Windows Update and woohoo, all is good! The hand is less sore and the lump is smaller. I still can't figure out how it happened. I took Benadryl this AM in addition to being up too late, as it's shot day. I could use a nap! I think it works better than the non-sedating stuff. BFF wants to go out to a late lunch later. It's too hot to sit outside, so hopefully the restaurant won't be too busy when we go. @kazu I agree with what others said yesterday; up to you to choose your path during this time, and friends should be supportive. Today's our last nice day before it gets very hot again with some storms. Fortunately the bad storms missed me yesterday. I seem to get weird stuff. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Mutts can be wonderful pets, although I've never had a dog. I like avocado but don't buy them much. I love icy cold watermelon on a hot summer day. Interesting quote. I like carbonara but it's too carby. The drink sounds good. Pass on the wine. On my only trip to Alaska, we couldn't dock at Haines, although the Captain tried. I was disappointed as we were to go from there to Skagway to do the White Pass Train and didn't make it. Thanks for the photos. It's cloudy out, but humid. We may get rain this afternoon. So I got out and mowed the lawn, since the grass had grown a bit from recent rain. I was dripping wet doing it. Laundry this afternoon. The roofing guy came yesterday. He looked at the damaged 3rd floor plaster area and went into the attic as well. He was by himself, but went up on a tall ladder outside. There were several shingles missing right where the leak was. We'd had some high winds last year and this year, and I guess that's when I lost them. He patched the area, even though this call was diagnostic. I asked him to price out a new roof, since this one is probably about 30 years old. I know it'll be pricey! @Crazy For Cats Wow on that car AC repair bill. I know a lot of folks can't even get repairs due to parts shortages. @0106 Thanks for the recipes. @StLouisCruisers Sorry the leg pain continues. Good afternoon. Thanks for the Fleet Report/Daily. Good days. I like tigers and it's good their numbers are growing. I am a wing fan, making them in the oven or air fryer, rather than frying in oil. I like good lasagna, but don't eat it often due to the carbs. Excellent quote. I'll pass on the drink and meal (fish), and take the wine(s). I haven't been to Hong Kong. Thanks for the photos. It's overcast here and not too hot, but still somewhat humid. We got about 1" of rain yesterday. I went to see the Orthopedic doctor this AM. Got new knee x-rays, since my last ones were in 2018. Left knee is bone on bone, with some spurs, and he recommends knee replacement. Right knee only had mild disease. He did say we could try a steroid injection again, since it worked well in the past. If that didn't help, then the viscous injection (hyaluronic acid). So I got the steroid injection today. I told him I'd think about surgery, although if I agree, probably not until next year. He said I was in a "sweet spot" time-wise, with no heart or lung issues (knock wood). In the meantime I also need to do some strengthening exercises; I'll look on Silver Sneakers or YouTube. Oy! @kazu I could only see the last video of Shadow, but it was fun to see her prancing around in the yard. Pretty flowers and garden. @grapau27 Hugs to Pauline and you on the sad remembrance day. You've done a great job of making the day special for Pauline. @lcand1923 Great story about lasagna. I have been to St. Petersburg on a Viking River Cruise in 2008. It's overcast with occasional sprinkles, but quite humid. I went and got my Evusheld monoclonal antibody injections earlier, then had to stay an hour in case of a reaction. While I had no Aunts or Uncles growing up, neighbors were given honorary Aunt or Uncle status, since you didn't call them by their first names and Mr. or Mrs. X was too formal. No to tofu for me. Interesting quote. I have never had the cake, but like the one with pumpkin; pass on the drink, and yes to the wine if someone buys it for me. I haven't been to Maroe Bay. It's warm here, but much better than the last few days. I spent the morning frustrated by not being able to install Windows updates. From online searching, many others are having the issue. I tried some tricks recommended, but nada, and don't want to do anything to extreme to PC. Oh well. After this, I'm going upstairs to clean up the area of fallen plaster and try to put some protective cloth down as more rain may occur tomorrow and Friday. The quote is true. I'll pass on the wine, drink and maybe take the meal with beef. I haven't been to Pichilingue. Thanks for the pictures. There were more storms overnight, but the power stayed on. However, in the area where I think there is a roof leak, a chunk of ceiling plaster came down. Luckily I knew what the noise was as I lay in bed this morning. I called a roofer, who I had planned to use for a possible roofing replacement, and he'll come out on Saturday. I figure maybe he can at least put up a tarp or something for now. It's always something! At least it's not quite as hot; I got my electric bill today and costs have sure gone up!
