  1. There are different rules/culture in different countries....outside the US, there are many countries that do not take returns, let alone adjust for lower price....my DIL is from Argentina and was astounded the first time we went shopping and I talked about returning if she wasn't happy. Coupons also are not everywhere
  2. It is on the upgrade sail: MIAMI TO MIAMI 12 Days Aboard Vista January 19 - January 31, 2024 FROM $4,199 PER GUEST Upgrade Sale Introducing simply MORE
  3. Obviously I am ill informed because I do not know how to use an App while my phone is in the safe. On the other cruise line, the App is loaded on my phone and I needed to have my phone with me to use the App.....
  4. For a different perspective, we cruise once a year, do our own air, book verandah cabins and are not spending thousands and thousands of dollars a year with TA. We do all of our own research and keep an eye on sales, and get our cruise repriced when possible,. We have a TA happy to work with us and give us her TA/Consortium perks.....so it is possible to have it both ways and save $$$$
  5. We had the same experience with an app on another line and it was not useful at all......I hated carrying my phone around.
  6. I believe they not only offer coffee drinks with and with out alcohol but wine in the evenings... I know we have partaken in after dinner coffees there many times. Did you actually go up there and confirm it closed at 6 or just guessing? Others have posted it is open until 10PM....
  7. Baristas was closed between 5:30 and 6:30?? I thought it was open from early morning to late evening...they have lots of munchies available there to tide someone over until dinner...
  8. There are many topics on this - a quick search will bring up many (usually asked at least once a week) Here is your answer 1) You may bring as much alcohol (wine, beer, spirits, etc.) on at embarkation and at ports as you want. 2) All alcohol you bring onboard is only for consumption in your cabin except bottles of wine can be taken to a dining area where you pay a $25.00 corkage fee Oceania reserves the right to limit personal alcohol if they find someone abusing the above by taking alcohol from their cabin for consumption in public spaces or due to over consumption of alcohol causing a problem for other guests
  9. I just realized I do the exact same thing 😆 - but we are in the unlimited bottles of booze after 15 cruises over 10 years on O all over the World and never had anyone bat an eye.....
  10. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, if you have only sailed on larger ships where the buffet is always open or there is somewhere serving meal food, I would not have thought to ask about when a buffet or dining room is open. Also, so few actual cruisers know or post on CC, that they lack the option of learning the details, I sailed many years before finding CC and then it was while onboard a ship.. They are making an observation and it will now inform others about this, so if it is important for dining, they are prepared.
  11. As I understand, as long as you already have a future Viking cruise booked and then book another, the FP is 6 months . Otherwise it is the 1 year in advance. Friends booked a JAN 2025 Vietnam cruise and FP is due JAN 2024. They have sailed on many Viking cruises so not newbies. There is quite a discussion about this on the Viking board....
  12. Correction for #1 -All the wine you want can be brought on anytime for consumption in your cabin - for a long cruise we bring on a case at embarkation Correction for #2 - no, consumption is in room only, not walking around with glass. You can take the bottle of wine to a dining room and pay the $25.00 corkage fee to enjoy with your meal, #3 correct - and your butler/room steward will be happy to provide all of the necessary components to make your G and T (except the G)!
  13. Thanks, forgot about that one...will add to the list
  14. Of course not!!! It is still important to carefully check what sustenance is available during that "black hole" between 5PM (end of tea) and 6:30PM (dining room open) besides room service! A researchers job is never done....availability of food, cookie debacle and are the amazing almond croissants really available every morning in Barristas?
  15. To be fair, I believe the OP was indicating that for those that prefer to eat dinner earlier, there were no options except room service before 6:30PM ....which is true...some people due to medical concerns or preference, need/want to eat their dinner at 5:30 - 6PM.
  16. In the interest of research, we will have to go check out what is offered at Barristas between 4PM and 6:30PM ...see you there!
  17. Since you are the only, so far, that has ever had any alcohol confiscated by Oceania, I doubt the OP will be disappointed.
  18. Oceania held a bottle of rum from you on a Caribbean Cruise - then you are the first person that I have heard/seen of this happening in all my years of sailing Oceania and in CC discussions. What date and cruise was this? We have brought bottles of rum onboard Oceania in the Caribbean several times with no problem. The T and C states they reserve the right, not that they will, and based upon the experience of all (except you apparently) they have not held any liquor. In fact as it has been stated, they even post in the Daily Currents that alcohol brought onboard must be consumed in the cabin (not that it may be taken from you)
  19. Again, asking have you ever had any alcohol taken when bringing aboard Oceania?
  20. In 12 years of cruising with Oceania I, nor do I know of anyone, had Oceania hold any alcohol we have brought on board. We have brought a case of wine (clearly marked) at embarkation and given to porters along with luggage to be delivered to our room. We have brought wine and liquor onboard at ports and not had anything taken. Usually the staff want to know what and where we got something and if it was a good deal. Have you personally had this happen on Oceania or just conjecture?
  21. Yes, you can bring alcohol onboard at the ports besides at embarkation.....
  22. The only time we received color coded arm bands was on our Seabourn Antarctica expedition cruise and it was not based upon cabin category but your expedition group....since the number of people allowed ashore is tightly regulated, each group had an assigned time. Never seen that on any Ocean cruise we have sailed on .....
  23. In South America (particularly Argentina) they want USD because their currency is devaluing at such a rapid rate that USD are their only means to try and stay ahead. We have carried that much (and more) cash with us before to South America. We divide the cash between us and both wear money belts until we reach our hotel in the city. All of the hotels we have stayed in have a safe in the room where we then put the cash, along with our passports, etc. until we are ready to head to the ship/airport. Then the money belts go back on until we are onboard or at our next hotel. We have traveled like this to South America every year for the last 20 and not had any problems (we have family that live in Argentina on the border with Chile). You will not find an ATM in South America that dispenses USD, nor can you walk into a bank with travelers checks/debit card/etc. and get them cashed for USD.
