We will be in a concierge verandah on Vista this Fall and was wondering if any of the interior walls are metal? We like to use magnetic hooks on the wall by the mirror (for invitations and other paperwork so not to get lost) and by the door (for hats, etc,). TIA

We ate out on Terrace many times on our Alaska cruise a few years ago - they put heaters out. We had amazing service since it was nearly empty for dinner! Put on your warmer clothes and enjoy the magnificent scenery and see a whale or two....

Bottles of wine are not part of any package, so you will be able to purchase a bottle of wine at the lounge and enjoy with snacks and then take into dinner.

Does anyone know if there is anywhere on the Discovery Princess where we can watch the Women's World Cup? Do they have any bars with TVs? TIA

Thanks - we signed up last Fall and there have been several changes to the "Plus" program since then and, now, have no idea what is included and what is not! I know WIFI, gratuities, 1 free specialty dining and the Plus drink package is and that is all that really matters. Anything else will just be a nice extra!

Don't mean to highjack this thread but this will be our first time back on Princess for awhile...I am reading that there is a service charge for room service orders and for ordering thru the medallions (never been on a medallion cruise before). Could you please let me know if this is true - cruising with 4 late teen grandchildren and want to let them know the options. TIA

4 of us will be arriving via train from Portland, OR and 2 will be flying in from Bozeman, MT. We have all traveled together several times before and always have a fabulous time. This is our first time on Discovery Princess so a new ship for us.

We will be joining you tomorrow for 7 days - looking forward to good weather and beautiful scenery. This is our 8th cruise to Alaska but this time bringing our 4 older teen grandchildren along for the fun. See you onboard!

I can give you our experience with the House Select package .....we were able to order beer or wine when we were at the Terrace cafe during the time it was open for lunch and dinner. We were able to order beer or wine at Waves Grill during the entire time it was open for lunch - ofter would go over from the pool mid/late afternoon and grab some salad and enjoy a glass of wine while sitting at one of the tables at Waves Grill. We were able to order beer or wine from room service when ordering food for lunch or dinner. Also ordered beer or wine at the GDR and specialty restaurants when enjoying lunch or dinner - would often order a glass of port at the end of the meal and take with us to enjoy around the ship. The basic rule is you can not receive your beer or wine from any bar (Horizon, Martinis, Waves bar - not to be confused with Waves Grill). Hope this helps.

It appears you can simply switch back to Olife and then you will not be unhappy....

I believe because after SM, everyone will have wine available during meals where as now, only those that purchased a package have wine available at no extra cost during meals. The corkage fee is, perhaps, to encourage people to purchase wine from O but after implementation of SM, that will no longer be pertinent.

We have requested fresh citrus and received with no problem and not in an Owners Suite....I am sure if they have extra, you will be provided with what ever you want

The culinary classes are listed under "other options" when you go to "manage this cruise". It took me awhile to find them the first time.....

No - the gratuities are still paid but by the cruise line....your bill will show the daily gratuities charged and then a credit for the same amount....

The needlepoint meeting is usual on all ships on all cruises.....very popular AM get together.

Why don't you just call your TA and have them clarify for you instead of asking people here when no one can answer your question or you can wait until 01OCT and see what happens on those sailings.....

I do not have the link - I shared what was sent to me as I thought that would help with asking if there were going to be 2 accounts after 01OCT for those with OLife. apparently it is not enough . Please ask your TA for clarification as it doesn't matter to us.

I am going on how Oceania handled the 1 account login and so using that for what Oceania will do with 2 log ins....

You can order from the GDR or Specialty Restaurants - course by course or delivered all at once, We have done it many times on all of the R ships in a penthouse. Enjoy!

I guess we will find out after the 01OCT......I read it as there will be 2 log ins per cabin and so you can decide if one person uses both logins for their 2 devices at the same time or each person uses one of the logins for their own device. We never had a problem with 1 log in since neither of us "had" to use our WIFI device at the same time..

True but after 01OCT it will no longer be an issue

Thanks....many ships are already docking outside of Amsterdam and providing shuttles into town. I believe there will be more cities doing the same in the future.

My DH wears long pants (think Chinos) with a collared shirt and shoes (no sandals) for dinner in GDR and specialty restaurants...adds a sports jacket for La Reserve (and sometimes specialty restaurant). If we are eating dinner in Terrace will wear dress shorts and nice leather sandals if the weather is warm.
