  1. For a flight at 11:30 you need to be at MIA NLT than 10:00 - and 9:30 is better with the typical TSA chaos. The ride from POM to MIA takes about 20-30 minutes, so that translates into off the ship, with bags, and clear of customs/immigration and looking for a cab or Uber/Lyft by about 9:00 - should be easy!
  2. Best bet is to book Uber or Lyft after you have collected your bags - wait for a car should be under 5 minutes and the airport offers free wifi.
  3. No sandy beach will have good snorkeling - the waves and sand cloud the water. There is good snorkeling from the shore at Money Bar. No admission fee, good food/drinks/service, rental gear if needed, lots of shade and you enter the water via steps. Chankanaab Marine park has both a beach and separate snorkel area - but also charges about $20 for admission.

Thanks for the feedback. Parts of Ybor can get a little rowdy on the weekends - glad everything worked out for you.
  5. There is a surcharge (30%?) associated with using a van cab - assuming you all fit into one van taxi the fare will be higher, but still cheaper than two cabs. Have a great cruise!
  6. You may need to wait a minute or two for a van taxi to come to the front of the line. 5 plus bags may even need to split into two regular cabs (especially if any in your group pack like my wife).
  7. Fare for standard Lyft or UberX should be about $50+ - hopefully surge pricing will not push that up, but you should not be in the early rush to get off your first ship.
  8. Park at the port - easy, convenient and not too expensive. www.porttb.com/parking
  9. www.visitlauderdale.com has lots of hotel and tourist information.
  10. Avis and Budget have locations near POM (2nd Street); I would drop the family and bags off, return the cars (5+ minute drive) and have Avis shuttle the drivers back). All of the downtown hotels charge for parking, so you will likely need to stay near MIA. Two UberXLs seems a lot less hassle.
  11. Sunday traffic in Miami should be better than a weekday rush hour - a cab ride from MIA to POM takes about 20+ minutes. If you wind up taking your back up flight I would call the cruise line, advise them that you will be cutting it close, and see what they advise. Worst case, what's the first port on your schedule?
  12. Except it is a 45-60 minute drive from MIA to FLL, and then another hour or so for the driver to get back after parking the car. No easy solutions to this one!
  13. Taxi from FLL or nearby parking to MIA will be about $80+ on the meter; Uber or Lyft should save you a few dollars. If you can handle your bags and if you are not in a hurry, then FOP's suggestion of riding the Tri-Rail train (fare should be under $5 each) to MIA is a good one.
  14. I have been on these boards for about 15 years and have never heard of a shuttle from St. Pete to PC. As suggested above, a one-way car rental is your best bet - or wait 5-8 years for Brightline trains to run from Tampa.
  15. I would always opt for one more night in Miami compared to an extra night in Canada. Choose a downtown hotel where you can explore Miami dining and nightlife, and then make your way to PE the morning of your cruise.
  16. Cortrans, Cruise Control and Cocoa Beach Shuttle are often suggested on these boards.
  17. You can use a shuttle or Uber to get from Orlando to your cruise. Post cruise I would rent a car in PC/Cocoa Beach, use it while I visit the theme parks, and then return the car to MCO when you fly home.
  18. Avis and Budget in downtwon (2nd Street) offer drop off customers a shuttle to POM - not sure if they pick up? I would call, or just grab a taxi for about $15+
  19. Pre-cruise your best bet is to stay near FLL - usually cheaper than downtown Miami. If you choose to use SAS for shuttle service they have a list of hotels they pick up at posted on their web site.
