  1. Fare for standard Lyft or UberX should be about $50+ - hopefully surge pricing will not push that up, but you should not be in the early rush to get off your first ship.
  2. Park at the port - easy, convenient and not too expensive. www.porttb.com/parking
  3. www.visitlauderdale.com has lots of hotel and tourist information.
  4. Avis and Budget have locations near POM (2nd Street); I would drop the family and bags off, return the cars (5+ minute drive) and have Avis shuttle the drivers back). All of the downtown hotels charge for parking, so you will likely need to stay near MIA. Two UberXLs seems a lot less hassle.
  5. Sunday traffic in Miami should be better than a weekday rush hour - a cab ride from MIA to POM takes about 20+ minutes. If you wind up taking your back up flight I would call the cruise line, advise them that you will be cutting it close, and see what they advise. Worst case, what's the first port on your schedule?
  6. Except it is a 45-60 minute drive from MIA to FLL, and then another hour or so for the driver to get back after parking the car. No easy solutions to this one!
  7. Taxi from FLL or nearby parking to MIA will be about $80+ on the meter; Uber or Lyft should save you a few dollars. If you can handle your bags and if you are not in a hurry, then FOP's suggestion of riding the Tri-Rail train (fare should be under $5 each) to MIA is a good one.
  8. I have been on these boards for about 15 years and have never heard of a shuttle from St. Pete to PC. As suggested above, a one-way car rental is your best bet - or wait 5-8 years for Brightline trains to run from Tampa.
  9. I would always opt for one more night in Miami compared to an extra night in Canada. Choose a downtown hotel where you can explore Miami dining and nightlife, and then make your way to PE the morning of your cruise.
  10. Cortrans, Cruise Control and Cocoa Beach Shuttle are often suggested on these boards.
  11. You can use a shuttle or Uber to get from Orlando to your cruise. Post cruise I would rent a car in PC/Cocoa Beach, use it while I visit the theme parks, and then return the car to MCO when you fly home.
  12. Avis and Budget in downtwon (2nd Street) offer drop off customers a shuttle to POM - not sure if they pick up? I would call, or just grab a taxi for about $15+
  13. Pre-cruise your best bet is to stay near FLL - usually cheaper than downtown Miami. If you choose to use SAS for shuttle service they have a list of hotels they pick up at posted on their web site.
  14. www.mrsanchos.com
  15. Agreed, but SAS will not pick up OP at PE - he will first need to make his way via taxi/Uber or another shuttle to FLL to meet the SAS van. Not sure it's worth the hassle.
  16. Two UBER XL vehicles, or three standard Ubers should do it. Bring your own car seat (the airline will check it for free if you choose not to use it on the flight) to ensure that the seat fits and is properly maintained.
  17. Cab fare, on the meter, should be about $80+ You could also use a couple of Ubers or Lyfts and save a few bucks.
  18. Unless you are arriving late and just want a bed, it is always better to not stay near the airport. Downtown Miami is a fun town with lots of local dining and nightlife options.
  19. Coco Beach Shuttle is another option. Uber and Lyft will also get you there, or you can use a one-way car rental.
  20. You could cab or Uber to Brightline and ride the train to MCO - from there it is a rental car, taxi or another Uber to Universal. A one-way car rental for the approximate 4-hour drive is likely cheaper and more convenient - pick up the car at the MIA airport. There are flights from MIA to MCO - then use a taxi/Uber/car rental to get to Universal. If any of this helps you owe me a pint at your favorite local - Guiness please! 😎
  21. Taxis are usually waiting. Fare to TPA was about $25 on the meter a couple of years ago. Uber/Lyft should save you a few bucks. There are vans waiting but they charge per passenger - if there are 3+ in your group a cab will be a better deal. The ride to TPA only takes about 15+ minutes - if you have a late flight look at an excursion or visit the nearby aquarium (they should hold your bags).
  22. Don't reserve for your ride back - you don't know when you will be off the ship and clear of customs. Wait until you are picking up bags to request your ride - usually only about a 5-minute wait for Uber at POM. The app will ask for the ships berth number.
