  1. Per this new posting on the Oceania board the Starlink test on Breakaway has been completed, contracts have been signed and the entire NCLH fleet will have it installed.
  2. Yes, a sealed can of powder would be fine and wouldn't require any special permission but the OP said they would prefer to bring the shakes and that's why they need to contact Special Needs.
  3. Assuming your flight doesn't arrive significantly late you'll be OK. BTW, check your times carefully because you'll be on EDT in the summer and you said the flight arrives at 2:30 EST. Are you boarding your Amtrak train at the Newark Liberty International Airport station or Newark Penn Station? Boarding at the airport station will save the time of an unnecessary trip to Newark Penn Station .
  4. If you don't mind someone else answering: Carmel Limo is a car service. They'll take you anywhere in NY City and the nearby suburbs. To get from JFK to Manhattan you can take a car service such as Carmel limo or Dial 7, ridesharing services Uber or Lyft, or a NY City taxi. There are mass transit options too, but unless you're traveling very light mass transit isn't an attractive way to go.
  5. The regular FAS drink package is all you need. I quoted the (poorly written) rule in post #23: "Corkage Fee is not applicable to guest with beverage package "
  6. AFAIK it's considered a single port as the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey oversees the entire seaport operation. As @navybankerteachersaid, the three cruise terminals have separate piers but all are part of the same port. Even if were not considered a single port, because of the state of emergency caused by Sandy USCBP would have granted an exemption to the PVSA .
  7. They've allowed wine to be brought on board with payment of a $15 per 750 ml bottle corkage fee for many, many years. The elimination of the $15 corkage fee if you have the beverage package is relatively recent. As for the report that beer can be brought on board, the person who said that was talking about doing it in ports of call, not at the embarkation port. I think they just lucked out because the rules clearly prohibit it. https://www.ncl.com/faq#!#can-i-bring-alcohol-board Can I bring alcohol on board? All guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. Please note that with the exception of Wine and Champagne, all guests are prohibited from bringing alcohol on board our ships. If you purchase any alcohol at one of our ports-of-call or in our onboard shops, we will safely store your purchase(s) and either on the final night of the cruise or the morning of debarkation it will be available for pick up in a designated area. Wine & Champagne Policy Guests may bring bottles of wine and champagne on board. When bottles are brought on board and served or consumed in any restaurant, public room area or in their stateroom, a corkage fee will be charged according to bottle sizes noted below. 750 ml Bottle: $15.00 USD 1,500 ml Magnum: $30.00 USD Wine or champagne sent directly to the ship by travel agents, friends, family, etc. or from another retail source, are subject to the same fees. Box wines are not allowed on board. Corkage Fee is not applicable to guest with beverage package
  8. The port call was canceled. Right now they’re not inclined to use the extra fuel needed to go full bore to make up for the lost time. In fact they've been shaving time off their port call schedules to allow somewhat slower cruising speeds between ports in order to save fuel.
  9. It's not what what is normally called a Bermuda cruise any more than a transatlantic repositioning cruise that stops in Bermuda. Today's cruise on Norwegian Gem that's delayed is a Panama Canal cruise that was scheduled to make a very brief port call in Bermuda as the first stop on its itinerary. With the ship being held in NYC it wouldn't be possible to stop in Bermuda without disrupting the entire remaining itinerary.
  10. I think I may have the answer to the Belize situation. I suspect you're not going to Belize City, which is always a tender port. You're going to Harvest Caye, NCLH's "private island".
  11. Judith Enjoy your cruise. I wish I was on board as originally planned.
  12. No, it won't be resolved by then, but the first people who will be housed in the shelter at the cruise terminal are currently being housed elsewhere, so if they can be moved from their current location to the cruise terminal they can be moved from the cruise terminal to yet another location. Remember that the weather will be getting much warmer at that time of the year so if needed people can be moved to something on the order of a tent city without endangering their lives. They used a tent city on Randall's Island earlier in the migrant crisis and then shut it down .
  13. Why? Ask your cruise ship's safety officer. They'll explain that it's important in the event of an actual emergency for you know where to assemble and there's no better way of doing that than making you go to that assembly station for the muster drill.
  14. Not until next year...until the cruise season starts this spring, which means about three months from now when MSC and Cunard start cruising from Brooklyn.
  15. Actually he became the richest person in the world at the expense of American taxpayers through billions in subsidies. Tesla came close to filing for bankruptcy in2019. https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/14/investing/elon-musk-wealth-taxpayer-support/index.html Tesla ranked 9th in 2022 US car sales. Leading manufacturer GM sold about 4 times more cars in the US than Tesla. https://www.statista.com/statistics/204354/us-light-vehicle-sales-in-september-2011-by-company/ . BTW, Musk is no longer the world's richest person. I've voted with my wallet...I will never voluntarily give him a penny of my money by buying one of his automobiles. It's very relevant when the company's stockholders are taking a bath, your company is laying off a significant number of employees, you fire a subsidiary's president and replace him with your son, you're raising prices while cutting the quality of the product, all while being given the fattest compensation package in the industry despite heading what is by far the smallest of the major players in the business. NCLH, and Oceania in particular, are holding a substantial amount of my money. That will change shortly unless NCLH's 2022 10-K, which is going to be filed in a few weeks gives me a very good reason to change my mind, and based on the financials I've seen to date that is extremely unlikely.
  16. Correct. The virtual muster drills were never intended to be permanent . They were strictly a temporary COVID era adjustment to minimize passengers' exposure to large, densely packed crowds.
  17. FYI, the trail doesn't exist any longer in Hamilton proper so you'll have to find the right place outside of the city to start your tour. Have you ascertained that the rental locations you're considering in both Hamilton and St. George's are open on Sunday? If you're considering renting from Oleander it appears that their Hamilton office may be closed on Sundays, and their St. George's office may not be open at all, at least in the off season. The bicycle tour issues aside, I think you're going to have great difficulty returning from St. George's to the ship on Sunday. There's been a problem for several years with inadequate taxi availability in St. George's and that problem is likely to be even worse on a Sunday as most businesses will be closed . If you find a taxi the fare will be well over $100 because of the 50% Sunday fare surcharge.
  18. I've done multiple full transits in both directions. Choose your cruise based on the cruise line/ship/other ports of call that you like best. I strongly recommend that for a first time transit you choose a ship that uses the original locks. Any of the above criteria are far more important than the direction of the cruise . There are so many potential ports of call on a Panama Canal cruise that I doubt anyone is going to take the time to research which have a a dolphin encounter other than someone might recall a port that did from past experience .
  19. You can carry on anything that will fit in the scanner at the security checkpoint in the cruise terminal.
  20. Here's general information from NCL's website: https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/wedding-cruises The above web page will give you a phone number, email address and a link to the website of the company that NCL contracts with for the purpose of planning weddings, which is: https://ncl.eweddingcalendar.com/ .
  21. You can't return a car at the port itself, but there are Hertz and Enterprise locations nearby that are close to the Crowne Plaza . Just be aware that these offices are not open on Sunday.
  22. If it will make you feel any better you won't be in NYC, you'll be in New Jersey. As others have said, taxis and Uber/Lyft are readily available, just as they are in any urban or suburban area of the US.
  23. We've stayed at the El San Juan a number of times, although not recently and not under the Fairmont brand. I'd certainly consider it for a day pass visit. You should expect the food and drink to be expensive.
