  1. Thanks for the idea but , because you had the Premier package, I wonder if they just counted that as one of your Specialty dinners. We "only" have the Plus package. The placement of Kai Sushi really doesn't warrant it as a Specialty to me. It's open to the Piazza, similar to Crooners. It's nothing like the experience you'd get in the Crown Grill or Sabatinis but has the same designation and all inclusive $39 price.
  2. @dides - Are there any/many places to sit in a lounge chair in the shade? We are currently booked in a Suite so that includes in the Sanctuary. (I think I'm supporting my dermatologist with all of the small skin cancers she's had to remove so this isn't just a preference) Thanks! And I hope these 6 days will make up a little for the cruise you missed! ***
  3. I used to think that also but we are currently booked for 39 days on the Sun and the only 2 "casual" restaurants are Alfredos and O'Malleys (which is only open for dinner). They made Kai Sushi and everything else "Specialty" restaurants. So don't need more casual meals on that ship!
  4. Crooners (which is out in the open) is a really weird place for the lounge. In the past it's always been held in a contained area away from the main traffic of the ship. ??????????????
  5. I think your friends misunderstood and you got lucky. We've been Elite for a really long time and never heard that we could bring anyone.
  6. I'm starting to wonder if a Reserve Cabana mini in the areas circled above might not be the best thing to book on the Sun (rather than a regular Reserve mini suite) for those of us that want a quiet place to sit in the shade. Especially since the Sanctuary looks like a no go on this ship. You'd have access to both sides of the ship so could choose the shady side each day. I don't really like the Cabana cabin layouts but.........
  7. If it's a closed loop cruise (beginning and ending in US) you don't really need a passport. Take it anyways! But if you have one, take a certified birth certificate and driver's license also. (I over prepare) https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=closed+loop+cruise And apply for your renewal as soon as you get back!!!! ****

I like to go to the suite dining room the first night to “report in”. But I will ask) Thank you !!!
  9. Has anyone had the plant based burger in O'Malleys? The regular veggie burgers on Princess are atrocious! So we're hoping that maybe this burger that they're charging extra for will be closer to the wonderful burgers the rest of the world offers.
  10. @duck65 - For future reference - on Princess if you don't get a top sheet ask for it! I always need one exactly for the reason you mentioned. For a while Princess wasn't using them so I asked the first day and it was always there after that. The last couple of years I haven't had to ask so I'm surprised to hear that they're back to not automatically having them. PS- So sorry and disappointed to hear about the Signature menu!
  11. I'm really sorry this happened to you. It's not right or fair. The only thing you can do (although I wouldn't give up on still pushing Princess and trying to elevate the complaint) is to learn the lesson of what a good travel agent, who has some leverage with Princess can do for you.I know from experience that our travel agent has access to people that I, as just a customer, don't. We can't recommend on here but talk to people on your cruise and ask for recommendations - that's how we found ours.
  12. I think the beds are a little larger (wider, not longer) than regular Queens. Definitely not King but they always feel larger than the Queen we have at home (unless it's just because we're on vacation. LOL)
  13. There has always been a lock on the balcony slider but it locks from the INSIDE. So if you open it to walk out there would be no way to lock it - at least on all previous ships. The only thing that would work is something attached to the Medallion like the door from the hall into the cabin - but no one has mentioned having that.
  14. And just in general - if you can walk out to the Cabana deck from your balcony, what stops people from accessing your cabin from that same exit/entrance?
  15. I should also add that I think adding charges to Suite passengers is a mistake for their long term interests. The profit margin on suites is higher than that for other cabins so they should be enhancing the benefits. When we saw there was a new suite dining room (like Luminae on Celebrity) we were excited. But now that we see it’s basically the same menu as the MDR with the same upcharges and not more upscale menus it’s not so exciting. When we saw there was a suite area of the Sanctuary we were excited but now we find out that that aren’t nearly enough loungers to accommodate even a fraction of suite passengers and only a small few of those are in the shade that many of us require.
  16. Unfortunately I think I need to correct the sentence highlighted in red above to used to be complimentary. 😡
  17. So after your post i checked to see if either of our cabins are connecting and realized that Princess deck plans don't show ANY connecting cabins. How are we to find out?
  18. We're doing B2B in the fall in a reserve mini (like yours) and then an S9. Both are shown with those horrible chairs. It doesn't make sense that the more expensive cabins would have those chairs. I don't think the recliner chairs take up much more room than the straight back ones. I, too, am going to request they change the chairs . We both have bad backs and it'll be impossible to sit in the ones you pictured. Again, THANK YOU for all of the wonderful info!!!! ***
  19. Adding to the long list of people who want to thank you so much for taking time out of your vacation to find out SO MANY things for us about this new ship! Come on people - 4 more posts to 1000!!! EDIT: How did this go from post 995 to post 978? Author #995 Posted just now Yes. It was uncomfortably warm in the dining room, Wheelhouse, and Crooners most nights. I hope they get the environmental systems balanced better. ***
  20. And it looks like you'll be getting the closest thing to an aft view that you can get in a non-handicap cabin on this ship!!!!! 😄
  21. Thanks for the link but I can't see where it says anything about balcony covered (or not) on the Sun.
  22. Has the deck 6 dining room really been open for breakfast and lunch on sea days? Somehow I got the impression that only deck 8 Americana was open.
  23. Any bar that might have the better glasses is going to request that you leave them there. If you want large glasses for your own wine you might just have to bring them with you.
  24. @CanadianBurger - someone on another thread asked about where better wines (and the better glasses they are served in) might be found on the Sun since there's no Vines. Have you come across any venues that would fit that description?
  25. The OP asked about the Sun specifically. If there's no Vines I wonder if they even sent her the better glasses. There's a current live thread. I'll ask about where better wines might be served on there.
