  1. What I meant was that the club-class is only offered in Skagway. Regular MDR dining is offered in both.
  2. Skagway is mid-ship, Ketchikan is aft. Same menu. Club-class is only in Skagway.
  3. And the MedallionClass system is a data scientist and marketers dream system. The amount of data they are generating on each ship each day is huge. Put it all together and you're in heaven. With the medallion they know exactly who is doing what and when, all the time. Since they know your demographic data in a detailed way (age, sex, citizenship, spending habits, family & friends) and they can track what time you consumed what type of beverage, engaged in what kind of interaction, even the route you walked to dinner or the show. The level of prediction and targeted experiences they will be able to deal is going to be impressive. Princess has a digital-double of each of their passengers and between the medallion on ship, the mobile app, and everything else they'll soon be able to target any market demographic with precision that it will be both scary and fun to see. No, they're not going to leave the older cruisers out to dry. In fact, they're just going to get better and better and taking your money, every last penny if possible. And while doing that they will also court and win a new generation of cruisers that will fuel their growth for the next 20 and 40 years to come.
  4. Yes this means based on current schedule you will arrive in Vancouver at 10:30 PM on Saturday, but the cruise continues to operate as normal overnight. You’ll clear the port and be able to disembark on Sunday morning. I’ve seen this term on other itineraries before.
  5. I could not find a way to do that. Some food items allow you to specify condiments or changes, but there isn't a blank way to make special requests other than what is programmed in the app. Perhaps the crew chat feature could pass the message along, but for now I think it's a missing feature.
  6. I read all these horror stories of people on hold for hours or not getting the service they need. It's crazy! I must have won the CVP lottery or something because ever since my old CVP left Princess during covid and they assigned me a new one, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences. I don't have a lot of time to spend on the phone, so I write up a detailed email with exactly what I need to happen, and every time she is able to do what is needed, provide the necessary details, or whatever magic is needed. She calls and emails me the next day to confirm it is all taken care of, sometimes to collect deposits, etc. and it's all done! I wish you all the very best of luck and hope you can find a CVP as awesome as mine. Sorry if it sounds like I'm bragging, but I just wanted to give my voice to the fact that there are good CVPs out there!
  7. Did you try logging out and back in again? (the magic solution of turning it off and back on) For me the update happened yesterday on my iPhone and it seems to be working great. Of course I'm not on the ship at the moment. :)
  8. When we boarded the ship on Sunday 9/18 they were playing an NFL football game in the Princess Theater. They also showed football games in the Vista Lounge and on the MUTS screen during the week. In the Casino there were sports games showing on the TVs in there. I don't recall other places.
  9. Here is what we discovered as a strategy for the mid-elevators: There are four elevators in the main bank, and then two glass elevators on the sides. The four main elevators operate together on the same set of buttons on either side, but the glass elevators operate independently on their own button push. What I noticed is that people would press the glass elevator button as they walked towards the main bank of elevators, and then push one of those buttons and wait. The glass elevators to the sides are slightly angled so it's easy not to notice when they open if you're standing waiting for the main elevators. Our strategy was to just push one of the side glass elevator buttons and look at what floor it was on. If it was near the floor we were on, we'd just wait right there. Everyone else went to share the main elevator bank, and we almost always would have a private ride on the glass elevator. It might have made us wait an extra minute or two now and then, but easily worth the wait to not be crowded in the main elevators. Aside from that, we always select an aft room so half of the time we used the aft elevator bank which was never busy. :)
  10. Thanks for the review. We were also on that cruise and loved every minute of it. Sorry to hear you got covid and hope you recover quickly. I was surprised that we never heard about anyone getting sick during the cruise. I'm sure it happened, but never heard peep, and rarely heard anyone coughing or anything (until the flight home). The four of us have returned healthy so far. Two of us wore masks when it was crowded, two did not. I asked on crew chat and they reported 2,544 guests on board.
  11. You can actually see how many drinks have counted against you for the day by selecting "MedallionPay Portfolio" in the app and then selecting "Packages". At the bottom of the page it will have a counter such as 2/15 or whatever number out of 15 you've purchased that day.
  12. Our experience was Yes. We had no problems ordering multiple drinks at a time, either in person or for delivery.
  13. On the iPhone, what I did was turn off the "Private Wi-Fi Address" feature on the MedallionNet wifi network settings. Once I did this, along with turning ON airplane mode, everything in the app functioned properly. To find this setting, you go into Settings, and select WiFi, then you click the blue "i" with a circle around it on the right-hand side of the screen for the MedallionNet network, and then switch off "Private Wi-Fi Address".
  14. If you already wear a watch, using something to attach it to your watch band is super convenient. That's what I did last week on Discovery. I took an airtag holder for a dog collar and attached it to my watchband. It was really easy to scan it when needed and I didn't have to wear something on my right wrist that I wasn't used to. Of course YMMV. The first thing my wife did when we boarded was walk up to the medallion accessories desk and bought a $54 gold bracelet to hold her medallion. That was our first purchase/transaction with the medallion and I saw right then how slick it really is. No need to sign anything, no need to do anything at all. My wife was handed the bracelet and thanked by name for her purchase, and we walked away. Wow!
  15. Last week I was checking my past orders and saw an order set to delivered that included 1 wine, 1 cocktail, and 4 beers, worth $45 bucks. Didn't charge me anything since I had the Plus drink package, but still wasn't mine so I used crew chat to let them know. They said thank you and that they'd let the bar staff know, but it never came off my orders list, but I wasn't charged for it anyway so wasn't a big deal. The app clearly shows the items that are complimentary and the items that have a cost but are covered by the plan when you go to order. Personally, I loved the app and the ability to order things to be delivered to where ever I was. At first I struggled to get it to work properly on my phone, but once I changed a small setting, everything worked perfect for the entire cruise.
  16. What type of phone do you have? I have an iPhone running latest version of iOS (16) and never close the app and always have it running in the background, and haven't had any problems with battery draining. Last week on the Discovery Princess I used my phone quite a bit and always had lots of battery remaining each day. I still charged over night since the bedside laps have usb ports and it was convenient.
  17. I love Sabatini's breakfast. It's one of the reasons we chose a suite. It's a quiet, almost private experience where you're waited on by everyone. It would lose its charm and magic if it became a busy and noisy experience. I understand the desire to enjoy it, but opening it up to the bazillion elites would ruin it. Fact is, the suite perks are already very limited on Princess compared to other lines. The value for the price paid is pretty low on Princess for suite guests. Fact is, I think Princess is in the same boat that many airline loyalty programs find themselves, with far too many people qualifying for the upper levels. When everyone is special, nobody is special. :) At least with the airlines you have to re-qualify almost annually. With Princess you accrue over a lifetime. You have children hitting Platinum and Elite that they benefit from for the rest of their lives (thanks mom & dad). It's not a sustainable model. My daughter hit Platinum on her third cruise (3 suites = 6 cruises). Princess really should look at phasing out the old program and creating a new program altogether with real benefits that matter the most for the next generation of long term customers. They're clearly already targeting a new type of customer that will sustain them over the next 20 years, they need a program that compliments them.
  18. Yes Discovery is in Vancouver today, but it was NOT a 5-day mini alaska cruise, it was a full 7 day sailing. It departed last Sunday from Seattle and sailed Ketchikan, sea day, Endicott Arm & Dawes Glacier then Juneau, Sitka, and two sea days, and into Vancouver this morning. We had a wonderful time.
  19. This is correct. Talk to your CVP and have them run it with the business folks. The standard princess people that answer the phones don't have the experience or knowledge to tackle this question properly, but a good CVP and work with the office to get it approved in the system.
  20. Excited for the ship, but kinda majorly bummed at the lack of aft wrap suites... :'(
  21. Here is an article with an interview with the director/producer of Hell of a Cruise. It's an interesting read: https://www.usatoday.com/story/travel/cruises/2022/09/14/hell-cruise-early-days-covid/8028417001/
  22. It's a pretty big deal. I can't imagine that any of the ships will not do their best to show it.
  23. As far as I understand TODAY you can enter Canada via train, car, even boat without needing to test. Only if you're arriving via cruise ship do you need to test to enter Canada. I can't imagine this rule continues into next year's cruising season.
