  1. I sure wish I could find a definitive answer to that... I still can't figure out if Sabor serves lunch or not! I even called C&A yesterday, and was told without a doubt "dinner only."

If they actually served lunch, that would solve a huge dilemma for me. I know my boyfriend would absolutely *love* Sabor, but I'm a dinner traditionalist and don't like missing MDR dinner.

Has anyone actually eaten at Sabor for lunch??

Several people on the thread below have been to Sabor. I just asked the question so hopefully an answer is forth coming. Check it out at

Only 56 days to my next NOS cruise, but who's counting?

  2. Dining

Went to Chops the first night, for 20% OFF, service was lousy, but the filet was the second best ever at sea.

The manager offered us a 50% discount if we dined there later in the cruise but we already had plans for Sabor

Sabor we also got 20% off

If you book right after the guacamole demonstration on the lido deck, the first sea day, they give you a discount.

Since we had found this out on the last cruise, we just asked when making the booking after boarding

Was Sabor open on Sea Days? Was the cost $15 for lunch? Thought I read this on a thread but have not found it. Thanks!

  3. I go to Belize regularly. Belize City is not where you want to wander or shop.

So is there anything you can do outside the port area if you don't book a tour? The last time we were there: walked around the port area, walked outside, looked around, took a picture and then went back in to shop, grab something to eat, then back to the ship. What about a taxi to the zoo?

  4. Haha I have heard really good things about this place. Can you order as much as you want to try off of the menu for that $25 per person fee? I looked at the sample menu and it all sounds so good!

There are many threads about NOS that are more up to date since the refurb. Here are a few. Sabor at Lunch may be $15 per person. Several have said they ate there at least twice! :D

I am anxious for 59 days to pass! :D:D

  5. In this case, the OP said they were inexpensive knockoffs.

Cost is not always the driving factor. There is an ethical and honesty factor here. The OP has given some very good and helpful information for anyone who might have a loss.

I personally have ensured I didn't keep even a few cents received that weren't mine. I also am someone who wants to be charged the correct amount and further have worked hard to have so if someone took something it is of value to me. Just happy to learn of a great outcome!

  6. 11 days med. Love Turkey and Chania. Ephesus is a wonderful place to go and they do a tour through RCCL that goes into the wilds of Turkey to Metropolis and

Oracle of Apollo that really brings you into the world of Alexander the Great.

The House of Mary was also soul uplifting.

Antique Shops in Chania down by the water were some of the most fun I had looking for things out of the Ordinary and very resonalble.

    Agree! Love these ports!:D

  7. We are booked on the Navigator for a trip to Cozumel, Belize and Honduras. I may change it - I don't see much in the way of fun excursions at these destinations so far. I wouldn't mind going back to Grand Cayman and Jamaica again!

Going out of Galveston we don't have too many options, and RCI stops going out of New Orleans in April.

We will be on our second cruise to these ports. We really liked Roatan and Cozumel. Think we will find something fun in Bellies with the ship. You might check out things to do at http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=587

Thank you for the post and pictures!

  8. If people are not able to cruise due to a medical condition I feel sorry but on the other hand they should not be cruising. I know that people can suffer an unannounced medical emergency but for those that know they absolutely need to be close to a medical facility and doctor that they re-think their cruse.

Also it pays to have third party medical insurance as well and to ensure that they will be covered for their pre-exisiting medical condition and to get it as soon as their deposit has been made.

I wish more people would be more proactive and get all the necessary vaccines. I always get my annual flu shot not only for myself but to protect other prone passengers.

If I knew I had a condition that would preclude me from cruising I would decide to take the precaution and not cruise until my condition improved.

There are many urgent medical conditions which are not known to the person/s when going on a cruise or any vacation. A few things that come to mind: Stroke, heart attack, aneurysm, new seizure disorder, bowel obstruction and the list goes on. Perhaps a few people do go on a cruise knowing they have a health issue. Most will never have an issue. For the few that do, that is life. May none of us on here ever be faced with being the one responsible for a ship having to reroute for a medical emergency.

  9. In most cases, a SAR helicopter will not be able to land on the ship, so it would be a winch operation. This is extremely dangerous for both the crew and the patient, so it is only done when the patient's condition doesn't warrant the time needed to divert to a port. Private lifeflight pilots are generally not trained to do at sea winch evacuations, or even landings (there is the motion of the vessel while attempting to land, obstructions, and the ever present updraft from the exhausts (not to mention the CO2 in the exhaust which is bad for both pilot and engines), so most of this is restricted to government or military pilots (USCG, for instance), and while the Coasties are always ready to go out, they try to limit it to real, real, emergencies. I know the USCG is considering charging for these evacuations, and most smaller countries already do. You don't think the cruise line will swallow the cost of a helicopter evacuation do you? Nope, that will be passed to the patient.

Not thinking these would be SAR but medical. This would be a Coast Guard or similar entity from a country. I work at a hospital that as a heli pad that really looks as small or smaller than the ones on the ship. I do agree some countries including the US would charge for the transfer. Good reason to have travel insurance.

  10. IMHO, it always a shame to stay aboard the ship in any port you have not been to before.

You will miss a tender ride on a really large capacity tender, an interesting look at the many stores there in the Tourist Village, & for those that like to really mingle with the locals, a walk outside of the TV to look at the flea market just outside those gates.

We have been to Belize probably two dozen times plus & would never stay aboard & we are both now over 70 & enjoy the outside flea market.

You could even take a walk to downtown Belize City to see those shops along the way.

    Enjoy Belize.

    Bill in FL

Thanks Bill for this information! We have been to Belize once, no interest in water or being on a crowded bus to the ruins. We went to the port but did not realize what was outside.

We actually had a leisurely breakfast, enjoyed the ship, got on the tender w/o a wait. We walked around the stores bought some really hot sauce (yum) and caught the tender back. Gone about 2 hours. Just right. Now something else to see w/o too much effort! :)

  11. Well, I'm thinking the best way would be to buy those pre-packaged individual cups. Unless, like me, your flavor doesn't come pre-packaged.

I'm one of those people who's coffee is more of a concoction with a just a hint of coffee. My coffee recipe has hot cocoa, cafe mocha liquid creamer and hazelnut liquid creamer. I can get the hazelnut creamer pre-packaged, but can't find the cafe mocha one.

Amazon has the café mocha liquid creamer in the small packages. May be less than the "bottle". Enjoy!

  12. this is beyond ridiculous

RCI really needs to get their act together. I shouldn't have to be so nervous about something getting screwed up on my two upcoming cruises. I'm scared to check my reservations for fear they'll either disappear or double in price, and I can't book the shore excursion I want because they have it listed on a sea day

My 2015 cruises are the last I have booked on RCI. Other than the final sailing of the Majesty in 2016 or maybe 2017, I don't see myself booking more with them until they get these issues straightened out. There are just too many problems. People are having cabins taken away from them, pre-reserved shows and dining are being messed up, and it goes on and on and on.

A few emails gone wild and a huge IT change over (takes 2 years to bring things back to where they were) are not going to keep me from cruising RCI They have always been pretty accommodating. I would love to be booked in 2017 or 2019 but am for 2015 & 2016! :p

  13. The food in Windjammer is a bit disappointing in the lack of variety. The main dining room has been better but still can be hit or miss. As others have said if you order smothering you don't like order something else! Lots of people do it.

    Happy sailing.

I'm always amused by the term "lack of variety" in the Windjammer. Not sure where these folks eat on a regular basis but I can guarantee you there is more variety on a daily basis than you would get at home in your kitchen! The Windjammer wraps around and has numerous stations. So much, it is difficult to determine what to eat. Is it 5 star? Maybe not but it is great since I am not cooking or cleaning up. I have no issue getting something else and never leave hungry! ;)

    QTPie

You can take your card to any bar or the WJ, etc once you have it and get a cold diet coke in a glass. My preferable over plastic. Never have to worry about having that cup with me!

  15. We have been given numbers/or tickets when going on cruise ship tours. We would meet and then be told to get our ticket or provided before going in to wait for our group.

RCI has done the belly flop, etc things since we've been cruising. This seemed to make a certain group of people very happy. We always try to stay away when those are going on and not have too much issue. Sorry you did.

Do you know if Chops at breakfast is only for Suite and Diamond Plus and above?

    Appreciated your review.
