  1. Most insurance carriers do not cover you outside of the USA. I know for a fact Medicare doesn't.

Not sure where you found Medicare will not cover if outside the US. You can get reimbursed. You must submit the claim to Foreign Claims. Not an easy process and may be out some but not all the money. I believe Hemo-dialysis is not covered out of the country.

I work for a world renown hospital with insurance that has a deductible and cost shares up to a certain amount. I am responsible for that portion. The cruise care would take care of the out of pocket costs.

The good news for DH and myself is my insurance will air ambulance us to the nearest company hospital, paid for by the company. Definitely a great benefit.

  2. We flew from Phoenix to Chicago to Rome. Spent 2 nights then cruised for 7 nights. Came back and spent another night in Rome. We knew we wanted to see the Vatican and all other Rome popular places. These are port intensive cruises. We did Athens with RCI and most others we booked with private groups. Spent a lot of time on CC with our Roll Call. Used TripAdvisor a lot! I would like to do Barcelona next but will never regret Rome and Greece first!

  3. Thanks...but the first rep should have offered to transfer me to resolutions immediately..after all I would have expected it from the C&A desk...she even said if she priced out a new booking right then it would give her the same price I was disputing...goes to show you she didn't even try.

I have ran a 24/7 call center. There are many reasons a customer service person gets/gives wrong information. If you were so sure why didn't you as to be transferred to the Resolutions desk? Wow, you got rewarded and still unhappy with one person. Shaking my head. Life is too short to let one little issue cause you to post in bold print!

  4. Just watch how close you cut it. I originally booked a late afternoon flight out of IAH. The airline (Air Canada) has bumped my flight times up THREE TIMES! I'm now looking at early afternoon. Fingers crossed there is no delays debarking and getting to the airport for us!

American airlines will usually change you to another flight if they are the ones to change the flight and with no charge. Thinking though Air Canada may have only the one flight going to your area?

  5. The taxi was a mini van. On the trip from our hotel to the port they folded down half of the back seat to create more room for luggage. I think you could probably fit 8 bags if they aren't too huge. We had 3 large suitcases, 1 rolling garment bag, 2 medium carry-on sized suitcases, and a couple of smaller bags.

Thank you! DH is seeking out what we will do and trying to finalize plans. Awaiting friends to finalize things. Others in our group are going to rent a car for the week. Do appreciate your input!

  6. Be sure you check the Enterprise drop-off fee. I considered driving down from home and the drop-off fee was about $125.

DH called today. They are not taking ANY one way rentals. We are staying at Holiday Inn Resort and they have a shuttle that will take us where we want to go plus the port. We are now trying to determine our transportation to Galveston as we have return booked through RCI.

I like peter 1975 Pink Taxi post and that is a very good cost for 4. Was the taxi large enough to handle 8 bags?

  7. There actually a rental place in Galveston. Enterprise have opened up Sunday's till 1 pm and stay open till 1 pm on Saturday now.

:D Thank you for this information! It so pays to be out on CC! Friends were just asking about car rental and I said no. Now we are going to look also! :D:D

  8. They can't join C&A until after their first cruise, so they wouldn't have a # yet.

OP: I would take the D1 on deck 8

The website might have changed but we had a C&A number before our cruise. We did not have any cruises to it until we completed the first one. From what I can tell you can still set up an account at RCI and then join C&A. (Never say never!) ;)

  9. That's cool that we are so close by! Hope you enjoyed the Allure :)

We aren't C&A yet (I know, supposedly this makes our chances even worse!) - this is our first cruise with RCI, and will be our first cruise balcony, so no matter what I'm sure we will be in love with it!

Sign up on RCI and get your C&A #!

  10. Call Crown and Anchor to ask your questions. I was not able to find the reference but believe that anyone in your household, in your cabin will have your Diamond Status. Children get it as do the spouse. It seems to me we had friends who were just married and he got her status. Happy cruising!:)

  11. There is a lot of information here on CC. There is an area which gives information about the things to do at ports. There is a lot about things not known by the general public. Getting to know your roll call group makes the cruise more fun! The roll call helps you find out what others are going to be doing, sharing excursions, tips to help determine what you really want to do. Enjoy!
