  1. Assuming this is for your Prima sailing from Galveston it doesn’t look like you will have a problem missing your ship. Your departure is later than ours. Sunset is around 6.30 EST so it will be getting dark (5.30 ship time unless Norwegian changes time on board). Unfortunately it makes for a very short beach day after travel time taken out.
  2. It mainly depends on the amenities you require and whether you want lively or laid-back. Lots of choices on the boardwalk, some quieter options out of town.
  3. They don’t want to do a Royal-Up.
  4. As you say sargassum is entirely dependent on season you are traveling and the current weather conditions. Off shore baffles have been installed along the malecon which have been somewhat successful. Beach clubs outside the malecon do not have this protection. We have enjoyed Maya Chan several times. As I stated above, it could be a good choice solo provided you are comfortable walking outside port to the meeting place for transportation alone, or with others from your roll call. Although transport is “included in price”, it is not from within the port area. Also, depending on mobility, it is a long walk within the port and then a short distance outside. Certainly once you are there it is vendor and hassle free, compared to the malecon. Service, food and drinks are very good. Food is local-cooked Mayan-style taco buffet. Sea conditions and sargassum are variable and outside their control. One word of caution. Our last visit we had late, short port hours. To try and make the most of our time we opted for their last recommended taxi back. Unfortunately the taxi was late arriving and we returned to port much too late for comfort considering the long walk back through the port from taxi drop off (which is at port entrance on return). I would not be comfortable taking their last taxi again especially considering the distance, road and weather conditions - there would have been no contingency for breakdowns. Therefore I would recommend that you are not be too complacent regarding them getting you back in “plenty of time”. Ultimately the decision of which taxi to take is your responsibility. They will come round half-way through the afternoon and offer you a choice of times to sign up for.
  5. Later is the late sitting. My Time is for people who want flexible dining.
  6. Lots of beach clubs have massage tables - is this what you mean, or you don’t want a beach club /bar? No idea on pricing - have never used one but lots of websites will give you a starting price . You do not have the same open expanse of continuous beach front at Cozumel as the other two places you mention.
  7. Thanks that’s one of our favorites too. Nice beach and view relaxing away from the main bar area, although tourist prices on food and drinks. Glad you had a good day. If there were only three people you must have missed the bar hop group!
  8. Which restaurant did you go to? What time of year? I presume there was no sargassum. We really enjoy the east side but sargassum can really ruin it if the smell is bad.
  9. Do you stay on the ship in port? You do realize you could just pay overage?
  10. Good to hear good review. It used to be our “go-to place” pre Covid but we were disappointed in service when cruising resumed. Nice to know it has picked up again - we were hoping it would.
  11. +1 It is on my profile too. I don’t blame the steward but in this age of technology I don’t go out of my way to make multiple requests in advance either. The directive is there. If it isn’t followed I ask on board.
  12. That’s as maybe which is fine for TD. However for those of us that prefer MTD it can come right in the middle of a course. As I said above, most of the time we avoid it but not always. Now that MTD is mixed in with TD using the same waitstaff it is more intrusive when it happens. Easier to ignore it when you are in a section remote from “the action” but now you find your waiter and helpers - hovering, rushing or simply missing. Certainly not even approaching a fine dining experience.
  13. We haven’t cruised this year so if this is something new I don’t think we would be a fan either. when MTD was run efficiently on a dedicated floor with dedicated waiters we generally managed to miss most of the performances previously as we would be between sittings. I agree staff last year was stretched thin enough and had a long way to go to attain previous level of service. They have better things to concentrate on.
  14. All depends what you are looking for? Not somewhere I would choose without a family but again it depends what you want. I suggest you look at some you-tube reviews.
  15. It is their liability insurance for that many that I would be concerned about, not your personal travel insurance.
  16. Thanks. Makes quite a difference knowing the facts and how many ships in port and distances involved.
  17. Perhaps best to contact them directly? Not sure if they take that large a group. Be sure to check their insurance for that many.
  18. Divina has been at Mahogany previously - perhaps keep an eye on Mahogany Bay schedule? https://www.mahoganybaycc.com/Port-Schedule.aspx
  19. I agree, I have done both - different experiences. I did the cooking a number of years ago with Josefina in her kitchen before she became ill. I understand her son has taken over the cooking class now and follows a similar format and maintains good reviews. The food tour is via Emily (the Cozumel Chef from USA), who also acts as the booking agent for the cooking class. Both are well administered. The cooking class is hands on. The food tour is experiencing local diners that the average tourist wouldn’t find. Link above unless you don’t want a spoiler. They are the type of places divers and land visitors frequent as opposed to most cruisers.
