  1. You will not find a “beach” with good snorkeling - you need rocks. Some locations have loungers in man-made sandy areas. Suggestions of websites to check: Cabana Beach, Chankanaab. Buccanos (not Mondays) Sky Reef Del Mar Latino Park Royal day pass
  2. Malecon21 is only walk-in if you sit in the lounge/ bar area across the road otherwise minimum cover charge.i thought Nohoch was only AI although like Jaimies they may do PAYG if they aren’t full. Sulumar is probably still walk-in but it rained when we were there and I don’t remember if they have loungers or only tables and chairs? I think Machos has walk-ins and passes. Some distance further Chunky Monkey but haven’t been there. They all have websites i believe.
  3. I think Pez Quadro only allows PAYG in restaurant - I am not sure if you can walk into beach area? Their beach club has always seemed loud and expensive but a lot of crew members get passes there. Don’t get me started on Yaya pricing. They did a bait and switch on us last year when we went to book and wanted $50 for two loungers, NO food and drink included. Hoping you have better luck because I was really wanting to give them a try. Unfortunately many clubs along the malecon have gone to AI, or at least a cover charge. I don't have a problem with minimum cover, credited to food and drinks I do object to $50 for two loungers considering the lack of amenities in Mahahual. We used to like to bar hop along the malecon, now that is cost prohibitive. Krazy Lobster serves its purpose in my opinion - it is large, busy but reasonably honest (which doesn’t apply to everywhere on the malecon) but not somewhere i would want to stay more than a couple of hours. We used to go to Malecon21 regularly pre-Covid, moving on there from Tropicante. They do have a minimum charge to include lounger or you can PAYG if you sit in lounge area across the road from beach. When cruising resumed ambience and service were lacking but hopefully they have got their act together again by now. We have also enjoyed Hotel Luna De Plata, just outside main malecon, but it has been a long time ago now. Beach is not great and I don’t know if their location would be protected from sargassum by the off-shore baffles. There are a few more newer clubs in that area that we haven’t tried.
  4. Thanks, you would think DJ would be able to give more precise description of location and facilities? Anyway enjoy and I look forward to hearing about somewhere new. I haven’t even read many reports of Big French Key which is strange given it is from the ship.
  5. Yes that is the map I had seen. I was under the impression one side of the island was for vacation rentals and the other side (opposite Little French Key had been developed for day Visitors and utilized by the cruise ships. I haven’t heard of Bradys Cay so will be interested to read your feed back.
  6. So have they taken over the area the ship excursions used to go to on Big French Key or is this a separate area? Difficult to see how accurate the location on Google maps is.
  7. There are some ATV tours which I am sure would be available via the brokers but only goes down the unmade road out of Mahahual or at least has in the past, as far as I know - never seen particularly good reviews for it. Never seen horseback riding available. Beach clubs, along the malecon in Mahahual and some individual locations out of town, are all run independently. If you look back a page or two on this forum you will see the regularly recommended locations and then each will have individual website with prices and booking information. The water park has recently reopened if you are looking for something active, or snorkeling or fishing excursions, bikes or segway may still be available.
  8. What type of excursion are you looking for? Choices are limited at Costa Maya - some independents but you need to know type of activity.
  9. I understand you have more experience than us in this respect locally. My husband has rented cars and driven in many countries of the world but he wouldn’t rent in Mexico and especially not when on a cruise ship for the day, and time of return is of the essence. I have read many reports and spoken with locals and it just isn’t worth the risk to us. Obviously everyone has different ideas and must reach their own decision that they are comfortable with. I agree actual driving on Cozumel is easy (outside of San Miguel) but when we are on vacation we do want to sightsee and have the opportunity to drink at local bars so having a driver is a no brainer for us.
  10. We always compare various brokers and contact hotel directly for day passes. Sometimes you get different prices, different inclusions different time periods for pass validity. It now is owned by Barcelo so I don’t know what their policy is directly. I think we used Island Marketing for this one several years ago.
  11. The type of road may be a cul-de-sac but the address would be something like “1 Oak Close” not 1 Oak cul-de-sac, just like Avenue, Place, Drive.
  12. Be thankful you don't have an El norte through - we have been frozen in Cozumel this time of year! It doesn’t last but doesn’t help when it catches you unawares.
  13. I think OP @smellywax has already sailed but they never returned to say if they made contact or did something else.

    Valladolid

Are the private flights still available? I haven’t heard anything about them since Covid.
  15. I also wouldn’t personally advise it but I find it very unlikely they are sold out. However you don’t state which port you will be at so difficult to know closest reliable rental locations. Be sure to do your homework regarding insurance and liabilities and have access to a substantial amount of cash in case of problems. Take your passport with you. It probably depends on how you are searching and which port you are at as far as options.
  16. It is an easy and safe enough walk but was it worthwhile? Would you do it again? Was there anywhere to stop and see anything? I think I would rather walk the length of the malecón and possibly back along through town or back along Malecón to explore and exercise. I have done that. I haven’t actually walked all the way from port although have walked immediate vicinity outside port to replica.
  17. Lol, twice as many tips if they pour singles?
  18. That sounds normal. I don’t understand your original comment - it sounded as though supplies were restricted and you were unable to get what you preferred.
  19. Surely they give you what you ask for, within the limits of what they have available? i doubt they have a full bar set up for free drinks.
  20. No delays with Voyager on Monday boarding. Either the letter that @Tree_skier posted relates to an old problem that has recurred, and they are recycling an old, undated letter, or someone found an old letter in their cabin!
