    Buccanos?

6 miles https://buccanos.com/en/activities Almost next to Playa Azul.
  2. I don’t know if there is an actual wind speed - it is probably a combination of speed and direction. We had word from Maya Chan that several ships had missed recently. Allure didn’t dock again this week and although it could have got in I understand the pier was too dangerous for pedestrians. I don’t know if it is my imagination, or just the increased port load, but more ships seem to be missing these days. We have only had to miss once when we were on Vision with no azipods and the Captain couldn’t dock but we have sat on the beach other days and seen ships try and then abort and sail on.
  3. That’s unusual. The machines are broken regularly but we have always been given either a paper card or coffee loaded on our seapass card which we have shown at the coffee shop. I am surprised this wasn’t offered on your sailing and that the coffee venue didn’t know when they swiped your card. It is bad enough that the Diamond lounge concierge didn’t tell you but I would certainly have had something to say if I had paid for a suite and no provisions were made.
  4. https://paradisebeachcozumel.com/#helpful-information 5 pages Cover most FAQ Still available but they try to push AI these days.
  5. Much quicker and simpler to compare on a third party website and then check on Royal if you find something you are interested in, if necessary.
  6. The Pub is now on Avenida 10,in case you look up an old link, at Kelly’s old location. They used to be a lot of screens and (obviously British connections now) but I haven’t been since they moved there so not sure what the set up is now.
  7. The Pub, Red Zone, Dick’s Dive, Casa Cuzamil come to mind. Cozumel is on EST year round.
  8. Opposite International where Royal dock. You can do a virtual walk on Google maps.
  9. I don’t know much about Carnival ships but I assume those in your signature are bigger and will do k at. puerta Maya? (Some smaller, older ships dock at Punta Langosta.) Sounds like you are better off with your own taxi and save the walk?
  10. The Playa Mia website isn’t specific but the Resort for the Day website states, Royal Village. I would email Playa Mia to check if that is current. Is taxi fare additional on your first post for the same entrance tickets?
  11. The other factor to consider is which port you are at and who you buy your tickets from. Off-site vendors, like Playa Mia are not allowed to pick up at the port so you have to walk off site to pick up Playa Mia transport and that location depends on which pier you are at. Cruise line probably has contracted transportation either via bus or individual taxi vans included. Obviously if you just buy tickets directly you can purchase your own taxi to and from wherever you like. Prices are displayed on a board at the port.
  12. +1 Completely agree about the late arrival from Galveston and we have decided we will also make it a port day from time to time - something we would never have done in the past. We will probably walk into port for a couple of hours just for the exercise(!) but would eat and drink on the ship. We have ended up at Krazy Lobster several times for a few hours recently, but more by default than because it is anything special. Prices are good and honest, as you say but much busier than I actually enjoy. We keep trying in the hope of finding a new “go-to” place but the taxi fares are making it not worthwhile to do every time.
  13. El Cielo is a sand bar and you will need to arrange a boat excursion. I haven’t been so can’t comment on excursion other than recent reports have been that boat traffic there has been busy recently. what else you have time for will very much depend on which marina the boat excursion uses in relation to International pier. ETA I wonder if you contacted the snorkeling company at Palancar Beach if they could accommodate this?
  14. This sums up our feelings too. I mentioned some time ago the beach feels much smaller but no one else seems to have noticed or at least commented on it. That is very early in the year for seaweed but the port seems to have suffered from a lot of bad weather and winds this year.
  15. It used to be a favorite of ours too. Unfortunately it is under new ownership and has had a rocky re-start. The verdict is still out on whether it will pull through.
  16. Chankanaab usually has $2 off coupon available online. As @crewsweeper says there is an entrance fee to both and only about $5 pp difference now. I don’t actually think the price for Chankanaab is bad if you want the included activities although several are extra as explained on the website. People can choose if/what they want to eat and drink. I have been to Punta Sur but not the beach club so no idea about that - i think perhaps there are two, although that seems to vary? I definitely wouldn’t go there (and especially not with that number of people) without pre-arranged transport. The advantage of a private driver is you can make additional stops if desired although keep in mind the beach club at Punta Sur is a long way down the road and coupled with the entrance charge will probably take most of your time to be economical. You can stop at lagoon and lighthouse on your way to beach club. Chankanaab and Palancar can easily be done by taxi vans and people can set their own time schedules without having to wait for everyone to leave at the same time. I dont think Palancar would be full if you get there early but it does/can get busy mid-day. Extra charge for loungers and umbrella. Another club to consider might be Buccanos, $20 entrance fee credited to food and drink, small beach, pool, snorkeling, good food and drinks. There are a couple of elevated day beds with a view for extra or free loungers and chairs. I am not sure if you can pre-book entrance but might be worth contacting them for a group that size to see what they can offer, maybe a group rate or area together?
  17. OK, I didn’t know what you meant by “by the port”. I didn’t know if you meant the Mayan spa “in the port area” when you said “by the port” which I presume is much dearer than the malecon in general where all the beach bars, including Pez Quadro are located.
  18. Good to hear a positive review of dining for a change however 30 minutes wouldn’t be a positive in my book. I haven’t experienced new menus yet but the change in choices aren’t a big deal to me other than the lame excuse for needing to call the menus by a theme. Quality is another matter which obviously I can’t comment on yet. 30 minutes “in and out” wouldn’t be a “dining room” experience for me and I would go to the WJ if I wanted to accomplish that. However if that was what you wanted and what you asked for, all is good. I just hope that isn’t their goal and they are able to read people’s preferences and adapt. If that becomes their aim there is no point in the two set dining times, 3 hours apart. They could go exclusively to MTD and create a more efficient model of turning tables than they are presently achieving. I also miss the days of cheese plate, wine and allowing time for food to settle. I don’t even like ordering desert at the beginning or having more than one course sat on the table at one time unless requested.
  19. Ok, even that was higher than @NoelleC’s TA quoted, unless they meant per person. So it still doesn’t make sense. You and I both know there is a big difference in distance between IAH and HOU. It becomes confusing if people aren’t comparing costs from same place.
  20. I have no idea about specific massages at Pez Quadro except that it is the beach club belonging to the 40 canones hotel so that may account for higher price. Even their beach passes are expensive compared to the rest of the malecon. There is nothing to stop you walking along the malecon and arranging with any one of the third party vendors. I am not sure what you mean by, “compared to the ones by the port” ?
  21. I was querying the price from TA. @NoelleCdidnt state which airport which makes a big difference.
  22. Didn’t you get free coffees at Promenade Cafe if the lounge machines were broken? We have never had to use our vouchers.
