  1. I saw this and immediately thought, "The world's turned upside-down". I'm gonna go watch "Hamilton" now. Thank you for the inspiration.
  2. Definitely. I've flown from TYS dozens of times. My next flight is out of BNA, and I'm not looking forward to it, TBH.
  3. In all honesty, this is my preference. A $20 Uber is so much easier than parking fees for upwards of ten days. I'd be fine with arriving at the airport 60-90 minutes out, but my travel companions would arrive the night before if I'd let them. So, we compromise with 2 hours. Chilling at the airport scrolling through Twitter outrage is more pleasant than listening to people sigh and complain...
  4. I'm in Knoxville. So, three-ish hours from Nashville and Atlanta. Five-ish from Charlotte. I'll start pricing non-stop flights.
  5. We’re sailing from Portsmouth. It’s looking like we’re going to have to fly overnight, so my plan is to leave Wednesday night, arrive Thursday afternoon, and sail Friday. We won’t have much time for sightseeing, but were limited on PTO.
  6. We haven’t bought tickets yet. It’s still a little early. I’m doing preliminary planning to get a budget prepared.
  7. Thank you. This was exactly what I wanted to see.
  8. Perhaps “rule” was a strong word. Suggestions? Rule of thumb? I’ve always heard you should give yourself 2 hours for domestic and 3 hours for international flights. I just didn’t know if that includes international flights with a domestic layover.
  9. I feel very silly asking this, so please be patient with me. I am taking my first European cruise next year, so this will be my first international flight. I know that the rule is to allow an additional hour when flying internationally for security. Can someone explain to me how this works with a domestic layover? Should I still arrive at my home airport extra early, or should I make sure to have an especially long layover? (Flying from US to London if it matters.)
  10. I wish they'd lay off all the sales pitches. Let me pick up my Latitudes pin without being pressured to buy a Cruise Next (or whatever the proper title is) Certificate. Let me enjoy a show without devoting the first half hour to the CD selling me a raffle ticket. The more they nag me to buy something, the less apt I am to buy it. And those SO annoying "BING BONG" announcements!
  11. I have sailed closed-loop itineraries with a state-issued ID. Including one Canada/New England.
  12. Lol! Essie is certainly classier than our traveling companion, DingDing. (Although, in his defense, our cabin attendant loved him so much, she gave us a set of Nutcrackers- long past Christmas. We didn’t even ask!)
  13. I'm so confused. Is Teppanyaki NOT Asian?
  14. Can I piggyback this thread to ask if anyone has any pics from the enclosed balconies on the Jade? I'm thinking I'm still far out enough to change cabins if necessary? (Cabin 9006 if it matters.)
  15. Piggy-backing this to ask another question about Portsmouth disembarkation: What's the earliest (safe) time to book a return flight from Heathrow?
  16. OP, I have had luck in the past buying sodas in the cruise terminal past security.
  17. Canada/ New England is my favorite itinerary! I can't wait to sail it on VV!!
  18. I've only sailed NCL and VV, so I can't speak to other lines. In my mind, that whole "no upselling" thing cannot be stressed enough. It's so nice to go to a show and not spend the first 15-20 minutes listening to the CD selling raffle tickets. How refreshing it is to not have to dodge photographers during dinner. On Valiant Lady, my partner had a question for sailor services, and I just kinda' wondered around the area waiting for him. A rep from "Get Lost" (MVNN) asked me if I needed anything, and I asked him a random question that popped in my head. (I think it was about how full our sailing was.) He actually answered my question without trying to sell me anything! That, in turn, made this the first time I've ever bought a future cruise credit.
  19. Oh, I can (partially) sympathize. I broke my ankle in three places a few months before my last cruise. I was juuust weight-bearing when we sailed. Send her my best wishes.
  20. I've only cruised with NCL once since the shutdown, and that was 2022. Can you share with me what the current safety drill situation looks like? I'm bringing on a new cruiser, and I'm trying to give her an idea of what to expect. (We're on the Jade if it matters.)
