  1. Cigar smoking is permitted in designated areas. Here is a link to Celebrity's Conduct Policy FAQs: link You will find the smoking policy if you scroll about half way down.
  2. Your best bet is to make the time/date reservation yourself by going directly to one of the specialty restaurants as soon as you board. To my knowledge, there is no advantage to getting the Concierge to making the booking for you and they may be difficult to locate on embarkation day. If you haven't seen it already, you may want to read this recent related thread: link
  3. In my mind, yes, but for different reasons. When the first specialty restaurant was introduced (The Olympic on Millennium in 2000), the original basis for the upcharge was for gratuity reasons. Back then the concept of paying onboard for food (or room service for that matter) was unheard of. I think it was a $12 pp charge.
  4. Yes, be sure to pack dirty clothes to take advantage of your ill gotten laundry perks!
  5. Andy, No, I have not heard (or read) of this happening before unless an upgrade was involved. You probably have already done this, but I would be looking at my other documents to see what cabin was assigned. I would look at my original booking confirmation to see what I was originally assigned and I would go online to look at "Manage My Reservation" to see what cabin it says I currently have. You will also want to contact your travel agent (if you used one) or Celebrity. Good luck. David
  6. You should be able to wait until you get on board to advise the dining room of your special dietary needs. Your dining reservations are worded in a confusing way to me. It is not clear to me what you are waitlisted for. Celebrity offers Traditional Dining with a Early (sometimes called Main) and Late Seating time. They also offer Select Dining (sometimes called Anytime). Open seating is a term that would be more associated with Select Dining to me. Here is a link to Celebrity's FAQs on Select Dining published this year which may help you decipher what you have: link. When I glanced at the flyer, the terminology in it suggests that you may be wait listed for Celebrity Select Early Dining which is not traditional dining. You should call your travel agent (if you used one) or Celebrity to get some clarification. If you want a private table for 5 for Traditional Dining, you cannot arrange for it ahead of time. Because you are a group of 5, there is a good chance that you will be assigned to a table by yourself although this would not be true if you end up with a large table for 8 or 10. You will need to go to the Main Dining Room immediately after you board to see your table assignment and ask for a change if it is not to your liking. For 10 and 11 year old kids, the children's program is excellent. The facilities are very good and you will find the counselors to be enthusiastically awesome. There are video games available and on many ships, there is an old fashioned game arcade. There is a full schedule of organized and planned activities for the kids. You will be pleased because your kids will be pleased. If you want more tips from members on this board, it will be helpful if you tell us what ship and what itinerary you are sailing.
  7. Also you may find that following this thread to be informative:
  8. Yes, at this point I would look into ToursbyLocals. You could also post your question over in the Northern Europe & Baltic Sea forum. You will get guide referrals, but as penguins said, the very best/popular ones may be booked by now--but it is worth a try.
  9. Very nice photo. I think we are all in agreement that 603 and 605 are of the same size. There is a difference of opinion on how suitable the size is compared to other Superior Doubles such as Room 204.
  10. Here is a flyer (a portion of which is in the screenshot below) that Celebrity published which tells you which restaurants are on what ships as well as the pricing: link. The flyer has a Mar 6 2023 publication date.
  11. @cruisestitch reported that it was not available on Eclipse this past April (link)
  12. It is not available on all ships. Constellation does not have it. @cruisestitchreported that it was not available on another ship that she was on recently which I cannot remember.
  13. The age groups are broken down like this: Shipmates: 3-5 yrs old Cadets: 6-9 yrs old Captains: 10-12 yrs old Teens: 13-17 yrs old Here is some more information on the Camp At Sea kids program: link
  14. I actually went to all 6 floors to photograph each emergency escape floor plan. This does not count the rooftop terrace.
  15. Thank you for the details. Yes, of course with nothing to compare it to, my wife and I could not experience the discontent that you felt with the same room. For your first stay, It looks like you were quite lucky to get the only other balcony room with a Pantheon view that was not on that floor (Room 204, which is the first photo in your post). The last two photos in your post were exactly like the room that we had--which by the way is actually located on the 6th floor. Now that I understand from you the size variation with the Superior Doubles, I think the only way to guarantee that you will get a large room with a Pantheon view is to book one of the view suites (e.g. the Penthouse Suites also on the 6th floor, Senior Suite on the 4th floor). Of course that is even more money. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to book the Superior Double again there although if we were to ever return my wife and I might be tempted to try a different location only for the sake of variety. Room 605 (Superior Double with small balcony)
  16. I really like the video. I should have found a more graceful way to introduce it without suggesting that the OP might do that.
  17. Yes. Most importantly, once the error was realized, an apology was offered and accepted.
  18. Yes. If you purchase single night reservations, you can select your date and time (from what is available in the drop down menus) when you make your online purchase. It is the single best advantage over buying a package.
  19. We've only been to the Albergo del Senato once and it was this past fall. Our room was also on the same floor (2 balconies over to the right in your photo) and the above floor plan suggests that our two rooms were the same size. Ours was small but I didn't think it was bad and figured that it was more in line with the norm in Europe. The funny thing was the room dimensions resembled a cruise cabin (I think I measured 200 sq ft not including the small balcony). On the other hand, the nighttime views from the balcony were magical. What floors were you on during your other two stays? A view of the Pantheon from our room at the Albergo del Senato. Oct 18, 2022 Late in the evening you can step out from the hotel to have the piazza to yourself.
  20. The last cruise we were on (Constellation in Oct/Nov) the Concierge and Captains Club personnel were all merged together as a team at the Captains Club desk located by Guest Relations. Is it like that on the other ships?
  21. Do you recall what floor this tiny room with a view was on?
  22. I'm sure you are and obviously I don't know you to even suggest that you would actually say such a thing. It was appropriate of you to note your CC status in your post. I just wanted an excuse to post the video! Good luck and I hope you are able to get your family out onto the helipad.
  23. As the others have said, your best bet is to talk to the Captains Club host/team as soon as your cruise starts. If you ask nicely, I think your chances are pretty good. Your status may help but please don't go there starting the conversation with "I am an Elite Plus member and........"
  24. Celebrity does an excellent job with their kids program. It isn't going to be as sexy as Royal Caribbean or Disney but the kids program was not the primary reason that we started cruising as a family when our daughter was 3 yrs old and our son was 7 months old (he got to cruise for free back then). The kids club facilities are good and the counselors are extremely competent. When they reach 14 years old, I would start to worry about them actually getting bored with the program and then a climbing wall may become necessary.
  25. Let's wait and see what your screen name becomes after you are a grandmother. In the mean time, I am going to have to brush up on my Norse mythology.
