  1. The typical 14 night round trip cruise out of Buenos Aires usually involve a visit to Antarctica and does not visit the Pacific side of the South American continent. So I am not sure what Celebrity is planning on doing. It will be interesting to find out. A few years ago because of, I believe, labor problems at the port, Celebrity moved the embarkation/disembarkation from Valparaiso to nearby San Antonio for the 14 night sailings around Cape Horn.
  2. Cruising is the finest way to earn points!!
  3. They told us the prices over the phone.
  4. It's more like being in purgatory, isn't it?
  5. It is not clear what the exact basis was for getting this offer. I need to clarify my situation. My 26 yr old son is getting the offers through my email account. He, my wife, and I are all lowly Pearls. We usually will spend a few hours in a casino on two nights of an extended cruise. My wife and I are not getting the offers! Now, I did call to verify the legitimacy of the offer. I think in this thread, we tried (unsuccessfully) to figure out the basis for the offer.
  6. This thread appeared in July. Use the Cruise Critic search bar for the word "Pearl" in the topic below and be amazed. We are guessing that the sailings being offered are not selling well and have cabins that would otherwise sail empty.
  7. Sorry, I was making a Reedy Creek joke. I guess that one gets thrown in the trash.
  8. Yes. It has been the subject of conversation on this board since July. The first person that posted it asked if it was a scam. Higher tier players did not get this offer.
  9. These BCC deals started last July (or so). They were targeted and not all Pearl tier members received the offers which included a free cruise (previous post) or in my example, 60% off + free AI.
  10. Interesting. The last time they had problems with Valparaiso, Celebrity moved the embarkation/disembarkation to San Antonio, Chile. That was a couple of years before COVID hit.
  11. It looks like the contract changes strip away Florida's ability to regulate the cruise line.
  12. The changes are effective for bookings made today and after. So my 4 existing bookings are not affected, I guess.
  13. Here is the offer we received in today's email
  14. Blue Chip Club number is not the same as your Captains Club number. I notice that the BCC number is pre-filled out on the casino reservation request form that appears when you click on the "Click Here" button on the email that we got.
  15. It would seem among the Cruise Critic community that FBC is like the Edge class IVs: some swear by them, some swear at them.
  16. The way @willyt25 described it in his post, it sounds different than what is portrayed in the video.
  17. Some of the foreign flagged carriers offer stopover stays at their home city without an increase in airfare. Iceland Air (Reykjavik), TAP (Lisbon), Emirates (Dubai), and Ethiopian Airlines (Addis Ababa) come to mind.
  18. We booked our flights with Flights By Celebrity for our TA last year (ORD-FCO and TPA-ORD) for $647 per person (economy class). Because the flights were in late October and early November, the prices were already pretty cheap even if I bought them directly through the airline. Celebrity did have a promotion that allowed us to save $100 pp off the air fare.
  19. The Future Cruise department will be able to apply your free loyalty upgrade.
  20. It's because you are in the Southern Hemisphere and your camera occasionally forgets to correct for it.
  21. davekathy's post is similar to the suggestion I occasionally make that Celebrity Cruises phone reps should be researching Cruise Critic to answer any questions they receive.
  22. This is gratifying to read. I am glad that it worked out to your satisfaction. I hope you enjoy your trip.
  23. In the not-so-recent past, I was having issues with logging into the Celebrity website and found that switching web browsers solved my problem. Sometime later the problem mysteriously disappeared and I then switched back.
  24. I do not like the Revolutionized changes to the cabin interior. However the changes to the balcony are an improvement--especially with the decking compared to the old style (photo). Unrevolutionized balcony for FV 8166 on Constellation somewhere near Florida (Nov 5 2022).
  25. Yes!! Option for a full refund or a transfer of the booking to another sailing with price protection. And then an FCC for 50% of the cancelled cruise fare on top of all that. I think Celebrity offered compensation for lost air travel expenses. That was pretty good and it all occurred before COVID when Celebrity understandably standardized the compensation to something less generous to handle the mass cancellations. Our roll call did an excellent job pushing for better terms and we were very supportive of each other.
