  1. We just peel/strip them off - easy! Maybe ask a strongman to do that for you?
  2. Please enlighten us what’s wrong with the City of Hamilton? Crowded …. Not just Bermuda but everywhere on the world. Why? Population uprising. As the population grows, so do the number of buildings, houses, vehicles, pollution, etc, the list is endless. That population growth causes loss of open spaces. We have been at 65K population for some years, and did you notice that the Government do not allow high rise buildings or huge billboards/signs, and haven’t increased the speed limits in decades?
  3. It’s crapshoot. We have beautiful days thru the winter. Also … we had the rounding of Cape Horn Dec 2009 and it was calm - all the way to Falklands.
  4. We were on the post-refurbishment Spirit in Feb 2020 - the link is in my signature - lots of photos! Enjoy!!
  5. But you still need to pay the $40 to BTA anyway. Enlighten us why you hate Bermuda, s’il vous plait.
  6. On our 11 day cruise on the Star last month we noticed an increasing number of pax staring to wear masks while walking around toward the end of cruise …. then bam! There were reports on Roll call that some tested positive while on cruise and didn’t quarantine …. Looks like they didn’t report but started wearing masks to protect the others from themselves. We already had Covid (Joy in March) and luckily escaped it on the Star. We wore masks on all flights - out and back.
  7. On our Star cruise last month the Greenland portion of the itinerary was cancelled and we diverted to Norway instead. All of our Greenland NCL excursions were cancelled and refunded to our onboard account as refundable credit. I asked if that was going back on our credit card at end of cruise, they said no, we'll get cash. Did a little shopping, bought some CNs. As we were disembarking I got flagged as go to Accounts. We had some credit left and they want to give it to us so we got $75.13 cash in US currency. They'd set up a desk/table next to the gangway (mid ship) for Accounts so people could go there instead of having to go to Guest Services on different deck. There was a till on the desk, with cash to give out to pax.
  8. I think I'd keep the left one and return the right one. There is some black in the left one so I can wear a black top with it. Also it'd be easier to find other plain coloured tops to match the left one than the right one.
  9. This appeared in our local newspaper today .... Fishing boat collides with Bermuda-bound cruise ship - The Royal Gazette | Bermuda News, Business, Sports, Events, & Community | And Pearl is sitting looking pretty at Kings Wharf across the water from me.
  10. reminded me of our Jade TA from Barcelona to Tampa via Miami in Oct 2016. When ship stopped in Miami we all had to disembark to go thru the US Immigration. Some zoo it was!! I had been doing well in casino and had several black chips … last night of cruise we went out to dinner at 7 and I had intended to play a bit more and cash in the chips at casino cashier afterwards. We were in Cagney’s on deck 13 and as we started, I noticed lights, land, buildings and went ***** …… ship had entered the waters leading to Tampa. We had received NO announcements that the ship would be arriving in Tampa that early! After dinner I went down to casino to find it shut so went to guest services to cash in my chips. They also offered no explanation…. We docked in Tampa just after midnight and no one knew or could understand why so that early. Went to bed, woke up next morning, opened the curtains only to be greeted with real pea-soup fog!!! That’s why!!!
  11. Plus Travel Protection insurance add-on if using NCL insurance which is based on the base price (that increases when you win the upgrade bid).
  12. According to MarineTraffic Pearl slowed down and stopped east of Nantucket Island, and nothing after that (meaning Pearl went off range). Anyhow, CruiseMapper is showing her speeding toward Bermuda at 24 knots.
  13. We were on same cruise with you …. We booked ours 4 weeks before and we also received upgrade emails but we already decided not to paratake them as we already had the Club Balcony suites close to elevators and knew the Haven would be full (after the upgrades). We ended up enjoying the cruise, no need to be in Haven.
  14. You can bring your own twin blow up mattress for the kid to sleep in. Bring air pump so you can blow it up in evening and deflate it and put away in morning.
  15. The 1700 that we heard was on the first day as soon as we boarded, but later we heard it’s lower than that, so you’re correct. It’s great that ship feels empty. We’re enjoying the cruise nonetheless! We had been to Norway before (Bergen 3x, Ålesund 2x, Trondheim 3x), driven there 2x, but hadn’t been to Olden before. Last trip to Norway was over 17 years ago, so it was interesting to see how much those 3 cities had changed. Olden was a very pleasant surprise - so picturesque! The ship’s excursions were already sold out but I was able to obtain a local one to Briksdal Glacier + troll carts, and it was one of the best excursions I’d ever been on during our 15+ years of cruising. We’re now back to Iceland … it’s been smooth sailing all along, except for a day of moderate waves, not too bad.
  16. In case you're interested check out the link in my signature - the new Spirit.
  17. Well, we (party of 4) tested negative after 11-13 days after we tested positive after our March cruise. PCR tests are more sensitive - they test positive on the ONSET of the virus in tour body, often a few days before the antigen, and continues to test positive even after you test negative on antigen. So you are not correct about the False Positive on PCR tests - they are more accurate than the antigen ones. Two friends of mine went to London in December for the New Year on vacation. They took pre-departure PCR tests - negative for the flight, okay. A few days into the vacation one felt awful so they took own antigen tests - both positive. So they isolated themselves in hotel room. After a week, took antigen - still positive. Then after a few days later they tested negative! But at that time Bermuda needed negative PCR tests for the return .... so they went out to have PCR tests - positive! So they stayed another week in London! They finally came back to Bermuda 2 weeks later than their expected return date!
  18. Here in Bermuda, it's the other way around .... lots more people are masked in all grocery stores than on cruise ships! Even it's optional. There are still about 25% still unvaccinated and some that are vaccinated are not in great health, and Bermuda is a tiny island of 21 sq miles with 65K ppl, it's like a close community. Masks are still mandatory on buses and in taxis, in hospital & doctors' & medical buildings.
  19. All posters here are correct. But, you can wear one ... or not - at your own risk! There have been many many posts here and on other cruise lines that people contracted covid while on cruise or when they got home from cruises. Us included (party of 4). Best to wear masks when travelling to port - airports and planes are rampant with unmasked infected people. Up to you.
  20. Okay, you could have said Le Havre rather than Paris! Like we say Southampton instead of London 🙃
