  1. Earlier this year we went on the Joy with our DS and his girlfriend. It was her first NCL cruise, previously been on Oasis/Allure and Freedom. She loved the Joy and said NCL blew RCI out of the water. She said the Oasis/Allure was just too big, and loved the buffet on NCL.
  2. Thought you would enjoy this picture I took just now from my place. Adventure OTS on left and Mariner OTS on right.
  3. An overnight docked in Bermuda is a lot better than a short day in Bermuda! You'll be able to step off ship and view the ship in her lit-up glory at night.
  4. If Prima skips Norfolk and is able to overnight here in Bermuda, she will need to wait until after Mariner of the Seas has vacated the Heritage Wharf berth at 1pm on Wednesday. We’ll be heading to Dockyard on Thursday to ogle at the new ship.
  5. @GeezerCoupleThanks so much!! Our 2 b2b cruises are Vancouver-Seward (24-31May) and Seward-Vancouver (31 May-7 June) and both go to Hubbard Glacier 😁 The ship will be in Seward from 5am to 8pm, and we're looking into taking the NCL train excursion (leaving at 6:45am) to Anchorage airport, take a quick taxi sightseeing tour in city, and then take a bus excursion back to Seward (back on ship at 5:45pm). The latter will take us along the road where the bore tide is. We're hoping that will happen because the NCL train is for the disembarking guests and we're not really disembarking! We're getting excited! The reasons we picked Spirit over the megaton ships are 1) far less people, and 2) longer port hours!!
  6. @www3travelerThank you for your answer! We're booked on two B2B Alaska on Spirit in May 2023, and we had thought it might be a bit too early, but after reading what you said, we are thankful!
  7. Well, I did some researching .... Yes, @vacation44 is correct, there is an earlier train from Anchorage, however, the OP @fishy9 is not lucky as this service starts on May 13, 2023 for the season. Let's hope NCL puts out their embarkation train excursion for your May 8th cruise out of Seward. We are on the Spirit B2B in May 2023 (24 and 31) Vancouver-Seward-Vancouver.
  8. There is an earlier train? I thought train runs once a day each way. From Seward to Anchorage in the morning and from Anchorage to Seward in the afternoon. Website? Thanks.
  9. Check the excursions for your cruise via MyNCL .... there should be one under Seward - the first day - it's the train ride .... Under Explore & Plan, select Seward Day 1 and then Shore Excursions ...
  10. Getaway is on the move, north - looks like it's back to MCT.
  11. Please correct me if I'm wrong but if Guest 1 gets the booze package then all adults in the same cabin must get/pay for theirs as well.
  12. We were in Reykjavik in July for a few days before our NCL Star cruise. We saw these statues in front of Hallgrimskirkja and I couldn't resist myself from smacking the bum of one of them to check they were not live. 😁 ☺️
  13. I was wondering why Getaway stopped in her tracks in the Narrows just before the Verrazzano Bridge .... she arrived in MCT (New York) at 7 am this morning, departed at 12:30 pm to sail with crew only (no passengers) to Port Canaveral but after an hour's sailing she stopped in the harbour at 1:30 pm. Sad that the above happened, but no dice for Getaway and her passengers to be able to sail out of Port Canaveral where the airports close to PC are going to be closed. Also, according to Windy the seas on both sides of Florida are expected to be very choppy (20-30 ft) on Thursday afternoon/evening. No chance. Now, it's a wait and see where Getaway will spend the 9 days before her next cruise out of PC on Oct 8th. Bermuda has a free berth after 5pm tomorrow until Sunday 8am .....

  15. Is that the The Local? It looks sooo swell for The Local! Excellent assortment of pictures - really enjoyed seeing them. Thank you! Viva TA in Nov 2023, here we come!! 11 long days for us to enjoy every aspect on Viva!! P.S. a favour to ask you .... when you see Clarense (aka Chocolate Cowboy) working in the Metropolitan, please ask him if he is going to be on the Viva when she debuts next year. He normally moves to new ships when they debut (plus Joy earlier this year). If he is going to be on Viva next year we're thrilled! Send him our best regards! Ann & Peter from Bermuda and our son and his gf also from Bermuda were on the Joy in March. We have seen him 3 times before Joy!! He follows us around, lol. Keep the photos coming!!
  16. Hi from Bermuda ….. the worst has already passed and the sun has come out. It’s still windy but dying down, and it’s dry outside. Great Sound sea is still curdling with white caps. Fiona’s eye passed about 100 miles west of us so we didn’t receive hurricane force winds but some tropical ones. We didn’t lose power but our cable/internet and phone are out. We’re good.
  17. Huh? Bermuda will be free from Fiona by Friday evening but St. John ain’t!
  18. MarineTraffic. I live in Bermuda in a house with views of Great Sound and the Dockyard!! We actually saw Getaway making a 360 …. that was why I posted …
  19. Yes, St.John, possibly for a short while then head back. Breakaway must port in Canada to comply with the PVSA law. Although hurricane Fiona doesn't make land until Friday evening it's her waves that will hit land 24-36 hours beforehand so Breakaway will need to get out of Fiona's advance path toward calmer seas. Here in Bermuda we have small craft warning starting tomorrow (Wed) evening, 36 hours ahead. Ugh, just 2 weeks after Earl! Earl was a brush-by (off the right side of Bermuda) with gale winds and we didn't suffer. Fiona will, as projected currently, will also be a brush-by, but with stonger winds as she upgrades to Cat. 4. Ugh.
  20. Just now we're watching Getaway depart from Heritage Wharf. She did something very strange .... she was docked port side, but when she pulled away from the dock she did a 360 turn before straightening up to sail ahead. Can someone enlighten to us why she did the 360 turn?
