  1. Loving your review of you mother /daughter cruise . I know that you are making your daughter into a great cruiser for life! 🥰 and making great memories for the both of you.
  2. Please post some picture. As an arm chair cruiser at the moment, I love seeing where others are cruising. I would love to go to Iceland as a pre or post extension . thank you for taking us along.
  3. Yea!🎉 hope the volcano blow any ash in the opposite direction of your flight path !
  4. Viking Ocean has a destination offerings every night on their Restaurant menu. I loved it on our Scandinavian cruise in June. Up next will be a Viking Greek cruise and I expect to have lots of good Greek items to eat on board. Pease do eat off ship at any sidewalk cafe and have some great local food.
  5. Clay when do you leave for your cruise?. Active volcano will be part of the mix.!
  6. I used both Visa and Master Card in Sweden and Denmark . Just tap the card as above poster says . Easy , even street vendors use it . A couple of times I just had to sign a slip. This was at an artist studio in Copenhagen.
  7. We stayed at the same hotel post cruise on June. It is great with nice big rooms and bathroom for a European hotel .lovey breakfast and great bar . Try the breakfast gin for a G & T . There is a great food market about 10 minutes away . Lots of fresh produce , fruits cheese etc. food stalls around the edges .reminded me of Barcelona food markets We ate there , food was fresh and wonderful . Be sure to do a canal boat ride . We just got tickets when we showed up . It last 1 hr and great views of the landmarks from water and going under the bridges was a great. Loved Copenhagen , people, food and easy city to walk in.
  8. Love the map dresses on both of you ! Have a great embarkation day . check out Viking Ocean for you and your mom. They do Hawaii, 15 days round trip from LA . No casino , nor kids under 18 and all veranda state rooms , and upgraded beverage package is $25. pp per day !
  9. If you want fly in in early or stay later using VikingAir you pay a deviation fee, this I do know. Don't know about using MJV to change items. I only used Viking during COVID and we flew in the day of cruise, but ship said import overnight. I booked my own air for our last cruise in June.
  10. First cruise to Eastern Med was early Sept years ago, very very hot. Second time it was in late Oct -mid November. perfect weather and no crowds. We are going on 10 day Greek Odyssey on Viking Star in Feb 2025. they call it the "Quiet Season". Fine with me. Like others I am interested in the history and historical sites of the places I will visit. Half of the ports are repeat and other half are new. I loved the Corinth tour we did years ago. Went to the Corinth ruins and the nice museum on site, and then took a boat through he Corinth Canal. it was a great day. This future cruise,I I will even get off ship on Santorini if we are the only ship in the caldera. 🙂
  11. What a great picture. I can just imagined an ancient Viking ship sailing out of the fjord to places unknown. You need to be a hardy lot to live in Norway.
  12. Thank you so much for your review of your cruise. Very helpful description of your excursions . I totally agree that Viking is back to their pre covid standards and the service is outstanding on the ship! I just returned from a cruise on the Viking Jupiter a few weeks ago.
  13. Looking forward to following your review. I just got off a 10 day cruise in Scandinavia and booked another cruise, but it is not until Feb 2025!
  14. They did have yoga each day , early on Jupiter in June . I think it was at 8:00 am .
  15. I like the gesture. When we left the ship on day 3 the staff was there to tell us to have a wonderful day ! Loved it and my sister loved the welcome back when they returned from Berlin. We were only in port with two other ships the whole 10 days on Scenic Scandinavia. Once pass X-ray, we were offered a nice warm wet towel and once offered hot chocolate on our one cool rainy day . I love it 😋🇩🇰🥰
  16. We did the Kristanopel optional excursion. Problem was when we tendered , it was only a 7 % chance of rain. Well, it ended up raining throughout the morning. So our guide amended the tour because most of us did not bring any umbrellas or rain gear. We had perfectly clear weather the other 9 days of our cruise. The main square has some intersting shops and was having a market fair when we were there but it was erring. So only saw the inside of the German Church on the square. These guys were on the pier when we arrived by tender boat.
  17. So happy to find your latest post. I will indeed go over MSC to rd your mother daughter cruise. I thought of you on my Viking Ocean cruise in June. Was in the gift shop in the pier terminal on Mariehamn, Arland Island in the Baltic Sea. They had full dresses of the map of the world for sale. I would have bought one but did not know how to try it on, no dressing room. Cheers Charla!
  18. Have a great cruise. 🎉 I look forward to more pictures and any post about your awesome itinerary.
  19. The person is called the excursion manager. On my recent cruise she gave all the port talks. She was readily available next to guest relations to talk to any passenger about any excursion. I find reading the trip reviews at top of the Viking forum page sometimes helpful. Many of their reviews talk about the ship excursions, but it takes some research to find a ship that did the itinerary you will be going on. I do like the printout that the OP has posted ,it would be great additional information for future passengers. Also the Port of Call forum on Cruise Critic is very helpful. Many of the excursion are similar to other ships excursions. There are so real expert on those forums.
  20. My first cruise to the Greek Islands was in early Sept many years ago. On Santorini we were the first ship in Caldera, but by noon there were five ships. The temp was about 100 F and ended up walking down the donkey path because the cable car line was endless. Second time we went in later Oct to mid Nov., nice temps only needed a long shelve tops and bought a nice wool wrap in Mykonos that I still treasure. Going in November there will be no lines to sites, no crowds on the streets in Mykonos and Ephesus should be less busy. Enjoy the museums , ancient sites and the good food at any cafe that is open. My next cruise will be to Greece in Feb on the Viking Ocean ship. 10 day Greek Odyssey from port of Athens. I am so looking forward to no crowds cool temp in 50's to 60 and all the places to see I missed on my last two journeys to this part of Europe.
  21. That is fabulous. They will have a lovely meet and mingle with cocktails and appetizers. We even had the guitar player play music for us. It was so nice to get to meet the senior staff in the setting and later see them on the ship. it lasted about 40 minutes which was just right at 5;30 pm on our cruise. I know you will have a great expedition sailing on the Great Lakes. I am so envious. 🥰 Please stop by and update us on your cruise. Cheers to you🥂 Patti
  22. All cruise terminals are different some are huge industrial ports, and other like Stockholm there is the ship at the pier and taxi can just drive up to terminal and drop off with two Swedish officials checking passports and check in in 10 minutes. and up the gangplank. In Copenhagen, our balcony faced the cruise terminal and the gate to the pier. We overnight on this last port of call. I watched two Danish guys sitting in lawn chairs talking and then sleeping from 10 - 1 am. I was sitting on balcony with bags outside stateroom at 1100pm. Had a farewell nightcap in Viking Bar and was enjoy my last night on the Viking Jupiter. Now Athens, Rome and even Barcelona, if you are not downtown by the harbor, are big industrial ports that I am sure are manned 24/7 to get even into the port area.
  23. Oh how wonderful. I did a Malta to Barcelona Welcome back cruise. The ship is right along side the harbor walk in Malta with a dynamite view of other ships coming into the harbor. Did Tangiers twice, once on Viking and once on Celebrity. Loved that port and walking through the Medina with a guide. Bought spices and argan oil which I love. Corsica is delightful and have some great Corsican white wine to bring back on board. Please do a trip report if you are so inclined. Tunisia and Algeria sound so exotic and with ancient sites.
  24. On our recent Viking Jupiter cruise, 600 folks went to Berlin for the day. My sister went and had a great time with her optional Viking tour once in Berlin. I went to Rostock which was an also included exclusion. it was a lovely walking tour with a guide from Wales who has lived in Germany for 30 years. Very informative. We had 16 folks in our tour. Gdansk was amazing . It was much more than I expected .Had one of the best guides of the whole cruise. It was an optional tour of Two Churches and organ concert. In this walking tour we had 21 folks. Had a hour of free time to buy some Baltic Amber, and have a local Gdansk beer and peroiges at an outdoor cafe on the pedestrian street . I see you have booked another cruise while onboard. We did too and got the same perks. Thank you for your informative trip report.
