  1. Not a tourist destination. If you could even get into the building you would see desks, and other normal office stuff. I think you might be able to find the cabin mock ups on line. In the past I have seen videos of them. It is an hour or more drive north of San Pedro.
  2. I would think that Princess licenses the songs on the list at the HQ level, and that it is used on all ships.
  3. The 18% gratuity is included. No additional charges. If you order a beverage in excess of the $15 limit, example $20, then your account will be charges the difference + 18%. In the $20 example your account would be charged $5 + 90 cents gratuity = $5.90.
  4. Refer to the deck plans. You can see all the differences. If you were on the Ruby then you know the design on the Crown. They are sister ships with a totally different design than Royal Class ships. Yes, there is an International Cafe. There is a full promenade on decks 7 and 8 where you can actually walk to the bow. There are many more viewing areas on the upper decks. The Royal's has a poorly designed Princess Live, a somewhat poorly designed Club 6, an uncomfortable Vista Lounge and Crooners. The Crown has more lounges including Club Fusion used for activities such as bingo, dancing, karaoke, things like that. It also has the very popular Explorer's Lounge and Wheelhouse Bar with nightly entertainment. On deck 16 aft is the Adagio Lounge, a really nice quiet location. There is also Skywalker's Nightclub with great views. The outside cabins on the Crown are wedding caked. Decks 11 to 15 are all 9ft x 5ft covered balconies. Deck 10 has 9ft x 9ft balconies that are not covered. Deck 9 has almost all of the mini suites with 9ft x 6 ft uncovered balconies. The Royal has Hobbit sized balconies. The Crown has usable sized balconies. On deck 14 aft is the Terrace Pool, a very popular location in warm climates. No Alfredo's nor Gelato on the Crown. Not certain but the International Cafe may have gelato. The Piazza area on the Royal is larger and used for many of the activities as well as dancing. The Piazza on the Crown is smaller, but isn't needed for dancing and other activities as there is plenty of space in the lounges. No Enclave, but there is a thermal suite. The Royal has two pool areas, Crown has 4. Most important the Crown has 500 fewer passengers.
  5. By end of the ship I am thinking you are referring to the aft or back of the ship. Aft cabins are mostly smooth sailing. Not much different than mid ship cabins. Thrusters are aft and can cause some vibration while docking and undocking. Starboard aft deck 8 cabins are above a smoking area on the promenade "patio" on deck 7. Deck 8 aft cabins are also above the Vista Lounge which could have entertainment and activities until later in the evening, say 11pm. Aft cabins on deck 15 are just below the Horizon Terrace on deck 16. There may be some daytime noise from above. Wake facing cabins are in high demand. You will notice some additional motion in rough, choppy and rolling seas. I have not noticed the motion to be very different than you experience mid ship.
  6. Some things to consider. Your sailing is 10 days, Dec 17th to Dec 27. Typically schools are in session until the 22nd or 23rd. This will limit families with school age children. Families tend to book one week cruises. That would be Sat or Sunday sailings over Christmas week. In my opinion I do not believe your trip would be overrun with youth. The Caribbean Princess has a very nice youth/family area on deck 17 which includes a pool, splash area with water features, hot tub and nice family lounging areas. This area should attract many of the families that might otherwise occupy the Lido pool area. The ship will be nicely decorated. Believe you would have a nice time. As an alternative holiday cruise, and as a senior my choice, you might consider the Dec 27th 11 day New Year sailing. There would probably be a nice adult group of passengers. This sailing visits less frequently visited islands such as St. Vincent and Guadeloupe. The New Year's Eve parties should be enjoyable. Ship decorations should still be in place for the Dec 27th cruise.
  7. The OBC mentioned is shareholder obc. That is the way their award is structured. Has nothing to do with Princess' elite loyalty awards where you receive a mini bar for each individual voyage and not by boking number.
  8. As posted perks are per booking number. Cruise credits are per voyage. Two 7 day cruises booked as a single booking number will get you one set of perks and two cruise credits, one for each 7 day voyage. If you are elite you will also receive a mini bar for each voyage no matter how booked. If you receive Carnival Corp Shareholder's Benefit then you will receive $100 obc for each 7 day booking number, but if booked as a single 14 day cruise you will receive $250. We always booked as individual cruises which provides additional flexibility with very little difference in pricing.
  9. No violation. In both cases you are sailing from a non U.S. port (Vancouver) and ultimately disembarking at a U.S. port (L.A.) PVSA controls sailings on a non U.S. flag vessel when you embark at one U.S. port and then disembark at another U.S. port.
  10. Grand Class ships have almost all minis on deck 9 with about a dozen of them on deck 8 aft. Royal class ships have minis on various decks. Check the deck plans here: https://www.princess.com/ships-and-experience/ships/#deckplans
  11. Uncovered balcony. Look here for information on Coral Princess balconies. http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/Princess/odell/res76zxu/princessbalconies/id2.html
  12. Post two is correct. Only excursions. Nothing else.
  13. If the accounts are linked to the same credit card then it will be automatic. Each will have charges to their on board account. In the summary account any credit balance on your account will net against any debit balance on your child's account. Check the accounts each day. If it isn't happening visit passenger services.
  14. At Hilo, Honolulu and Nawiliwili figure you can walk off about 30 to 45 minutes after arrival. There is always an initial surge of passengers. Hilo is your first port. No formalities. You sailed from L.A. and have not been to a foreign port. The ship's approach into Nawiliwili is curved "S" shaped through a narrow channel. I have been aboard sailings where this port is missed due to high winds or foul weather. Maui is a tender port. Tendering ashore is slow even if you have priority from being in a full suite or elite status. Access to the tender dock is shared by other private vessels. The ship's tenders get delayed waiting for permission to dock. Toward the end of the Maui stay the tender line gets long for the return to the ship. Those in line will be returned before the ship sails.
  15. Probably not a lot of children during May, but if late May you may find more youth on board as some schools do end their year during May. There probably will be a good number of b2b'ers on board. These would not typically be youth. Since you have cruised on Princess before you are already aware that there are no water slides, rock walls, and other attractions that draw families with young children. You really should not compare Carnival with Princess. It is a different crowd and experience. You can't get away from crowds. Royal class ships hold 3,600 passengers. If you wish to be on a less crowded ship select one of the older Princess ships or smaller ships from other lines.
  16. Just some comments. There isn't much to see in Trinidad. Have been there a few times. It isn't a city where you can just leave the ship and walk around. The downtown area is more like a business district. You probably will be back on board early. If you have not been through the canal here is some information. You approach the canal lock entrance very early in the morning. The best views of the lock transit and operation is from the upper open decks. There you can walk around and get 360 degree views If you remain on your balcony you will only see one side and you will have to walk to the railing to get those views. Around 9am or so you will be through the Pacific locks and will enter the Gaillard cut. I would plan on the meal after you pass through the Pacific locks. If you have been through the canal then you know the routine. You did not mention Curacao. Sailing there is 1at 0pm. If you do not have a land based evening activity planned then there will be plenty of time for a nice balcony dinner in calm waters with no movement. The ship docks outside the inner harbor. The bow is normally facing toward the inner harbor entrance. Port side should provide land views.

    OBC

It should show in the travel summary
  18. It all depends on what you are planning on viewing, and if you just want a view or want to sit for a longer time. *Promenade deck 7 and all the way forward up the stairs onto deck 8 of the promenade. Seating on deck 7. No seating on the forward section of the promenade on deck 8. *Terrace Pool aft on deck 12 and the seating areas above it on decks 14 & 15. Very popular area in tropical climates. There is a shaded area just outside of One5 Lounge. Part of the area is for smoking. *Anywhere on deck 15 above the Lido Pool area. You can walk all the way forward, but no seating in the narrow forward area. *Sometimes the Captain will open the area on top of the bridge for special viewing. * on deck 15 forward there is some seating just aft of the sanctuary. You can also book the sanctuary on board. There is a fee. In tropical climates there is high demand. In other areas not so high except for special viewing days. No secret spots.
  19. Usually the ship is required to file their passenger manifest 1 hour before sailing. If you have supplied all your required immigration information then one hour. If not, then 1 1/2 hours before sailing. The 30 minutes mentioned in some of the postings is not correct for initial embarkation.
  20. Yes, you can go through the TA. You can also book at the excursion desk once on board.
  21. Alaska. Rain jacket and layered clothing. Closed toe shoes for foul weather. Some opaque tape. You may require it to block out the motion light sensors and other things. You mention meds. Suggest you include, if you haven't already done so, OTC items such as motion sickness pills, decongestant, cough drops, aspirin, etc.
  22. Link the accounts to a single credit card. When linked there will be an on board account for each plus a summary. You can do this pre-cruise or once on board.
  23. Look here for one group https://www.bearcruises.com/fall2023 Large groups tend to book 7 day voyages.
