  1. DUO Delights. This is how they are identified in tomorrow's passages. I will ask them when their contract ends and report back.
  2. So on a different note, from your point of view, are the walls on Grandeur so "thin" such that you hear conversations and tvs from neighboring cabins?
  3. Embarking today (Easter Sunday) from Miami for Splendor repositioning TA. Internet manager told me that Starlink equipment is being put on Splendor today BUT likely will not be operational until July. Makes sense that since today is last day for the ship to be in the U.S for many months, it is a logical time to install the hardware, but wonder why it will take several months before it is operational. Perhaps contractual issues...who knows?
  4. So I guess your "judicial"standard means there is no difference in how likely a ship is to wait for a private tour vs. a ship sponsored tour...so you would not recommend using that differentiation in choosing a tour. I believe smart traveling involves making smart choices with the information one has at the time and I normally choose a ship's tour when that tour involves a tender port or when cruising in a remote location. We evidently disagree. That's the way it often goes on CC.
  5. Unfortunately my transatlantic TA itinerary has been modified substituting Nassau instead of Bermuda. That lessens my daily enjoyment by a little bit, but still looking forward to our cruise! Thanks for kind words!
  6. Could not disagree more. Folks who are wedded to the fine print often miss the practicalities of how things really operate. Contractually speaking, according to your citation, the cruise line has disclaimers basically saying that they can leave you anywhere...Cruise line or private tour...no difference. That differs from the way things operate. You are much more likely to be left onshore if late due to a private excursion than on a ship's tour.
  7. Spent 27 total nights on the Vista..two cruises in last 5 months. I second everything you are saying about the Vista Theatre. My second biggest problem with Vista...of course the first being the paper thin walls! Otherwise lovely ship, but the noise issue will likely prevent us from sailng on her again.
  8. Self insuring or only partially insuring for the cost of the cruise is certainly a reasonable choice, especially if one has some coverage through a credit card. Limits of credit card insurance include pre existing condition limitations and not being high enough to cover the full cost of the cruise. However purchasing coverage for overseas medical and medical evacuation are important. In the situation referred to at the top of this thread, I wonder whether travel insurance policies would provide coverage in a sufficient dollar amount to cover literally being stranded on an island in a remote part of the world.
  9. Reading the fine print can be helpful in managing expectations.Question for this issue is how will reading fine print change one's behavior? Need to consider likely practical application of the fine print, not just the content.
  10. Very few examples out there of folks being left, in any case, AFAIK. Other than one cited in this thread above, I do remember an example of a ship being ordered out of a port in the middle of the day during a port stop in Charleston, SC. I believe it was a HAL ship..reasons were paperwork non compliance of some sort. The ship returned a few hours later, however.
  11. Practically speaking, the ship will wait regardless. There are always going to be very very exceptional situations such as examples I cited above.
  12. Uh, yes except possibly for Civil unrest, weather emergency, sudden orders by unreasonable power hungry local authorities...extreme extreme extreme examples...borderline relevancy at best. Okay, how about in nearly all situations, the ship will wait for a delayed ship sponsored tour...much less likely for delays passengers encounter while on their own.
  13. Wow, must really be awful if you would base your decision to cruise or not based on whether they will still be on the ship! We embark tomorrow on the Splendor TA. Will ask them and get back to you. (should we stop at CVS and get some ear plugs on our way to the ship?) 😁
  14. Not true. A ship sponsored tour means the ship will wait regardless. I assume your example in NZ relates not to a ship sponsored day tour, but an overnight excursion catching up late to the ship at a different port. Ship sponsored responsibility to get to next port normally applies to a delay getting to embarkation not a delay returning from a day tour.

  16. With trend toward removal of internet computer centers on newer ships, wondering of Splendor still has an area with computers for guests to use. (I know to expect non Starlink poor internet..no need to mention that.😒)
  17. Yes, but at least the "funny money" from a cancelled shore excursion could be used to purchase goods or services or drinks on the ship. Unused SM shore excursion money from cancelled excursions goes back in the pocket of Oceania.
  18. I had no problem with a cruise that was many months out, but others seem to have trouble. Maybe some new tougher rules are in effect. I am not sure.
  19. You do not "just" get the better dinner reservation slots. We book Concierge for warm weather cruises to get access to the front spa deck. Especially wonderful on Vista. Also, on larger ships, the Concierge lounge is nice to have access too.
  20. Wishing you good luck in the random neighbor game. Hopefully the thin walls on Vista do not offer you lengthy nightly noise fests coming from your neighbor's TV.
  21. Suggest contacting VQ transfers. VQT.com. They are great at arranging private car transfers anywhere around Venice. Owner named Trisha us a Brit. She is great at giving advice. Helped us out getting from Venice Airport to Ravenna for a Celebrity cruise last summer.
  22. We are packing..deciding between mostly long or short sleeve shirts (for men) for Splendor transatlantic embarking on Sunday. Have only cruised Regents's older ships, so wondering whether the A/C keeps dining and other rooms pretty cold during sea days and in evening dining rooms on Splendor..or are temps more moderate? Our last cruise was on the new Oceania Vista and the temps on the ship varied widely between venues. Hoping for better on Splendor. Thanks for any advice.
  23. Loved much of Vista but will likely not cruise her again due to pervasive noise between cabin issue. Two cruises..unable to sleep until late at night when neighbor decided to turn off TV...happened on both cruises..even when I talked to my neighbor and he showed me TV was turned very low...volume less than 10. Told by staff problem is pervasive... all over the ship. So if you are lucky and have neighbors who are quiet and do not turn on TV...you will not have the problem...seems strictly a matter if luck...a chance I will no longer take.
  24. While I agree there is a chair hog problem, I would be very surprised if your rather arrogant letter stating that you know Regent's legal risk better than they do and demanding an explanation of why they won't do things your way, gets any result. On a recent Oceania cruise I was told by ship's GM that NCLH legal counsel has forbidden any enforcement by removal of valuables. This applies to all NCL, Regent and Oceania ships. Result of a lawsuit settlement with a passenger who had valuables damaged or destroyed during the enforcement process.
  25. Yes, finally asked stateroom attendant at end if my 16 night cruise. "Home" light comes on when you put your key card in the slot adjacent to the little alert panel (do not disturb, please make up room indicator). When you take the card out of the slot it takes up to a minute before the home light goes off.
