  1. I'd say toss up. We've done Star twice prima once. Prima has a front lounge, Star no more. Prima front lounge packed. Prima not a cold region ship. Prima nice interior. Star older. I guess part is what room? We did one Star in a DOS on 12 to Alaska without balcony and it was fabulous.
  2. Who knows. We had a DOS on Dawn years back. Asked Virginia the concierge for Cagney's reservation and told none available. Same day at lunch asked hostess told no problem. When we went later that week venue 1/2 full. Feel free.
  3. Oh, and if you won the upgrade your grats would not change, but take note of grats between the two lines.
  4. Our last Haven on Escape we had best room on ship. That category includes three bottles of booze and unlimited in room water and soda. Butler introduced himself, first words ... We can't bring drinks under the package to your room....What a first impression. Last trip on Prima in an OS had same in room drinks. Went to Haven for breakfast. Ordered Coke Zero. Asked if wanted can or gun. Thought odd question. Said can. Told that would be full charge. I could have gone to room for one. Same trip, first day, ordered normal. Crown with coke zero. CR was an upcharge. $1.00 plus grat. Classy.
  5. Well, some here report of crew shortage due to being able to hire. Maybe they are asking for volunteers.
  6. Closest thing we had there were tiny tiny bugs biting on beach.
  7. We ended up on Sun under a similar situation. Had Jewel booked in aft balcony for four. They changed it to Sun. No such equal room on Sun. They did move us to an aft mini now club on Sun. Those clubs are best in fleet except maybe the newest ships which we have not been in that category. The Sun's clubs are big, have a walk in closet and big bath. Spirit is a better ship though all around.
  8. We sailed Prima on the first TA. Haven area outside useless due to weather except in one port.
  9. Yeah, mid trip had crew come through on the walkway mid day so be cautious.
  10. Was that a stop with the latest BTS Tour?
  11. Maybe check that site starting with a V for options. We used them last fall there and they had a ton of options.
  12. The gvs do get more bottles. As far as champagne, they've been cheaping out on that for years.
  13. We got ours for last September to Europe at 40 days.
  14. UK, while we've had noisy, creeking cabin on Prima, creekiest ever, still unsure how you know they have a list. The lines generally don't share much with guests let alone do they provide what is advertised.
  15. That burger must be a custom order. I know they make their reubens with pastrami and actually quite good. Maybe they'll make the burger a regular menu item for the healthy, contemporary cruiser.
  16. Yes. I guess all those fcc's still need to be used up. Haven, no way paying what asking but I do see most sailings in next few months highly sold out. Not paying what they are asking. There were some $299 insides to Alaska though.
  17. POA has something either wood burning or knock off for pizza in buffet. Port side, aft of bar.
  18. We've sailed Spirit twice. First was out of NYC like 2006 over mother's day. DM was with us too. Had insides on 9 & 10. Great six day trip down to PC, Nassau, GSC when they hauled fast, before sail and sustain and before the great port reduction of around 2015. Good old days of several folks with cases of water on shoulder boarding.
  19. The Haven pool area can be as quiet as a library or as noisy as day care before snack time. Or you could get a Caddyshack moment with pool shut down for a whole day when some kid fouled it with their baby ruth. True story but not a candy bar. As others have said, if you want it, pay outright and don't rely on bid.
  20. We've only done one TA with that route. It was Prima. For us, mostly US 60+. Communication? With who? English not a problem. Now if you mean talking to crew at places like CS or CN, they will generally not be able to understand things customer service related.
  21. It is really a blessing in disguise. Sailed Escape summer 2018 and went to late night buffet. It was port side in the front. Maybe 1/32 of serving area. Hot dogs, small sandwiches with more bread than ingredients, desserts same. Trip or two before on other ships same. They gave up on the late night buffet years ago.
