  1. Announcements will be made in many languages including English. Menus are also available in English. English is spoke at guest service, too. Thus, there should be no language barrier regarding everything official. Even pool games and the like are moderated in various languages. Of course, not all passengers speak English, thus there migth be a problem in this case. For that reason there is also no comedy. Shows are music, dancing, acrobats.
  2. My experience in Summer: late seating between 21:30 and 22:15 In winter: 21:00
  3. IMHO the number one "rule" is respect. Respect for other opinions, experiences and perspectives. Respect for the desire of somebody to talk about something as well as for the point when somebody does not want to talk about a certain topic. I learned a lot about polics and religion from interesting fellow guests and had great discussions. Yet, certainly one does not want to be lectured down and dominated, about what ever, politics or home gardening.
  4. In my opinion and experience, it is worth a visit and not overrun. It is different from much of Marseille.
  5. In the evening you should visit an authentic fado venue.
  6. So there are features you regard as advantages? And others you regard as disadvantages? Like the consequences of the standard procedures of Cunard and many other cruise lines and hotels? While it might certainly be irritating and worrisome to see what looks like daily "charges" plus the final charge, there is nothing to complain about once one has been told or has understood the way it works. There is no "double charge" as the title claims. I am with @Solent Richard: "It's no different to hotels covering themselves against financial misconduct: and quite right so." Thus this thread could be helpful for the reference of future customers wondering what's going on: Just normal operations. Nothing to worry.
  7. While there were many more dancers on my Sept/Oct cruise than there were on some cruises in the past, I sahre your impression " that cunard is looking for an excuse to repurpose this space." Actually as you described they already use it for other purposes. This is what the Entertainment director wants. Questioning this use as well as the strange, inconsistent and unreliabel use of the Commodore Club I was told that this is "what Sally wants". She obviously does not care about the opinions of passengers / customers / guests. When I had an issue on a previous cruise, guest service said quite frankly "She does not talk to passengers.", a written question remained unreplied.
  8. As was predictable, the moment you lower the standard by the rules, there are those you go even lower. And: So much for what they tell their customers and what they do: In early October, I was told management would be aware of the problem and they would make sure that staff in all areas enforces the dress code..
  9. The package is for one's individual use. It is 15 alcoholic drinks per day and person (unlimited non-alcoholic drinks). You cannot share the package. If two people have the package, two do not, the later need to pay for each drink individually.
  10. Thank for your review. Much of it matches my experience.
  11. A number of hotels in various areas of Singapore offer day rooms, to be used eg from 10am to 7pm. Using this your luggage problem is solved and you can do whatever sightseeing you like.
  12. Pre Covid there certainly were more options. Eg. Celebrity had 10 to 14 days roundtrips, albeit earlier in the year. There might be more again in the future.
  13. In the opposite direction, Naples is an option. 2:20 to Civitavechia.
  14. That's really sad. The new management with it's new ideas seems to be quite good in alienating passengers who liked the Cunard way.
  15. Actually, in my experience, yes this is is one of the European ports with a sort of tour vendors right at the port. Tickets for a bus transfer with a basic outside tour are sold in various offices. Be prepared to be self guided within the archeological site.
  16. There are also a naval museum and an art museum (der this was closed when I was there). The main street with theatre and shops and some market style stands is nice for strolling in a less tourists, greek environment. Some of the churches are also noteworthy. TBH of course nothing of this has the importance of the sights in Athens. I had spend maybe alltogether 10 days in Athens and seen quite a lot there before I decide to stay for a more relaxed port day in Piraeus. Yet, wirhou this comparison, in itself you can enjoy a perfectly fine and interesting day in Piraeus
  17. And I am glad you had another option to sail with 😉
  18. Interesting perspective - thank you for sharing. I am glad you enjoyed the crossing.

    Genoa

Genoa is an interesting historic city, among other sights full of palaces, some still occupied by the families, a couple of others to be visited. Of course, there are also the cathedrale, many churches, cafes, ice cream, just Italy. Unless you are mobility restricted, all of this can be reached by walking. It begins right at the terminal.
  20. i am glad you enjoyed your cruise. A question about one detail, as yu mention the lobster in the Bistrot: How was it? On my last cruise this was the only foodwise disappointment. Expensive but terrible.
  21. I guess it depends when and where the ship is sailing. On a summer cruise, yes it was less occupied, as much of the action was going on outside, by the pool or at the Horizon bar until very late. Still a lovely place to be for a drink in a nice location with a great view. Yet, on another cruise with a somewhat colder weather, the Sky lounge was the place to be. It was hard to get a seat all evening and night. Anyway, I agree with @Acrobatu2, what a waste of such a prime location for the gym and the kids club.
  22. @bluemarble, would you know the dress codes for the further, 2023, QE's Australia and beyond cruises? I am considering a 18 nights one but not when there are too few formal nights.
