  1. Being a desert rat from the great South/West all my life I had never heard the terms "slider" or "White Castle" until about 25 years ago when my brother-in-law married his wife who is from Minnesota. Still have never tried either one. Just to show my ignorance a little further I read all 3 of todays recipies and still have no clue what they would taste like. Not sure I want to find out as the one and only time I ate Indian food at a restaurant it was quite spicy. I took some leftovers home as my husband liked it but the next day when I opened the fridge it was so pungent that I had to throw out everything and clean the fridge with soda and vinegar to sweeten it up.

I have never been to todays port and I am enjoying all the photos.

@aliaschiefCongrats Bruce and Sue on your 30th anniversary.

@grapau27Nice photos. Pauline always looks so completely elegent even when relaxing barefoot. I am so envious.

@RowsbyI hope that your time in Hawaii will be restful and restorative.

  2. Both the meal and the drink or the day sound good to me. The wine is way above my pay-grade. Haven't been to Arhus so I am enjoying looking at the photos.

@XBGuyNot Trader Joes but everytime I buy some wine or liquor at Wallgreens or Albertsons they scan my Drivers License. ( I am 80!)

@StLouisCruisersI totally agree. I am so frustrated trying to get everything done for my upcoming cruise that I am getting upset stomach and Migranes. Why can't we just go back to the days of printing our boarding doc's, showing them and be done with it.

  3. @kazuIt is wonderful to see you post again. I pray that posting might prove to be therapeutic for you. Many of us here have walked in those shoes and the journey is long and difficult. Any time you feel the need to cry there are many shoulders here to cry on.

I found that having a formal Grief Share or Grief Recovery Group was very helpful. If you have such a program in your area, whether sponsored by church or hospice please consider attending.

    God be with you

  4. My late husband and I were at Tallinn, Eustonia in August 2008 aboard the Eurodam, our 50th wedding anniversary cruise. I don't have photos to post but I am greatly enjoying reminiscing with the photos that have been posted. We took a HAL excursion to a nearby monastary where we were met by a nun with a glass of wine and given a very informative lecture and tour. Afterwards we were dropped off in Old Town to walk around on our own. Tallinn was a very, very pleasant surprise.

I am totally frustrated trying to prepare for my Alaska cruise on May 28. Finally I was able to get Navigator downloaded and working. my cell phone will NOT allow me to sign in to ArriveCan so I got part of it on my computer then it refused to allow me to proceed further and I was notified by HAL yesterday that I should download another app so I can get a Covid test to fly back to the United States after the cruise. GRRRR!

Keeping my fingers crossed that all this can be figured out and that I can actually go.

Hello dailyites.  I was just speaking with Jacqui (Kazu) and she has given me the okay to post a link to José's obituary.  The funeral home will be live-streaming the service on Thursday morning.  There is a link on their website if you would like to be with Jacqui virtually.  She asked me to let you all know that she will be back with you in good time.  As a good friend of Jacqui and José, I would like to thank all of you for continued support of her during this sad time, I know that she truly appreciates all of you on this thread.https://kennebecasisfh.com/tribute/details/28422/Jos-Ledezma/obituary.html#tribute-start

    Thank you.  Georgina

Thank you Georgina for your thoughtfulness

  6. @kazuJacqui although we have never met in person I have followed you here on Cruice Critic for many years and I feel like I should know both you and Jose. Although it is impossible to know how another person feels; I was walking in those same shoes 7 years ago and I do know it is devastating. Thank goodness you have been getting all of the legal and financial affairs in order.  I pray that Jose can be kept comfortable during his remaining time. For yourself you may need to reach out to your primary doctor and your minister or priest for some help and a bit of counseling. I know that I needed both. And sometimes just going outside and standing in the sunshine helped. My heart is bleeding for you.

  7. Yesterday was such a busy for me, including getting my 2nd Moderna Booster, that I did not have a chance to read the Daily.  Today I am very fatigued and headachy so I will be taking it very easy.  I will pass on todays meal, drink and wine. I have been to Loreto several times. That is my favorite town in Baja California. Sorry I don't know how to post photos but all of yours bring back a lot of fond memories.

@kazuYou and Jose have been through so much this past year. I think you are very virtuous, you must be Jose's angel. I am thanking God that he is on this new supercaring unit. Hopefully the diuretics will kick in soon and relieve his discomfort.

@cat shepardMy condolences on the loss of your cousin.

  8. I finally got the ArriveCAN app. downloaded onto my cellphone and opened a new account with email and password. When I try to Sign In I get the message Sign In failed and asking if I am connected to the internet which I am.  Any ideas what I should do about this? I am flying into Vancouver a day ahead of my cruise..

I've forgotten how to access the "signatures" at the bottom. Can you give us a hint of how to add that feature? Thank you.

P.S. Just found it by going into my ACCOUNT SETTINGS then "Signatures" and clicking "view signatures" or something like that, then "Save".

Please let me know how you find your ACCOUNT SETTINGS.

  10. @smitty34877I am so sorry that you are having to go through this terrible period. @kazuI am equally sorry for the trials and tribulations that you are going through.

On a much happier note my BIL John came home from the hospital yesterday with oxygen full time and a catheter but all in all he is doing very well. I plan to go see him this afternoon when SIL takes him for a walk.

  11. Hello dailyites. Please accept my apology for not posting yesterday that my BIL came through his surgery fine and the doctors are pretty sure that they got the entire cancer. Of course the final determination will be by a pathology lab. John has good color and everything seems to be working well, of course he is in a lot of pain. It is possible that he can come home sometime this weekend. I spent most of the day yesterday at the hospital with them as SIL is basically a basket case. Left at 4PM so his sons could visit. Limited to 2 visitors per patient here.

@kazuI am sorry to read what a frustrating day you had yesterday. It seems that I get treated the same way everytime I go to Home Depot by myself. At least you found your lost ring.  Praying that today goes better for you today.

  12. I had the extreme misfortune of being an only child. I had 1 grandma and 1 uncle in the town where I grew up, all 6 of my cousins and their families  lived at least 100 miles away. Life was very lonesome but I loved the library. It would have been nice to be able to have a wild side.

The meal of the day looked wonderful until I read the recipies and found that all 3 include anchovies so thanks but no thanks. The white wine is something I would very much enjoy.

I have been to Fanning Island, 11 years ago cruising aboard the Rotterdam. While there I watched a lady make a beautiful shell basket which I purchased for $10.00. Still have the basket displayed on an open shelf in my kitchen.

I am praying for all on our prayer list and request that you pray for my only brother-in-law who is having surgery for lung cancer tomorrow.  Roy, I am not requesting that he be put on the list as the tunor is small and hopefully this will be a once and done procedure.

I've had gyros in Greece many times, they never had dill.  So my question, what is the preference among the Dailyites?  Dill in Tzatziki or no dill?

I have never been to Greece (other than being stuck in the airport and not being allowed to deplane in the 80's) but I love Greek food in the local restaurants. To the best of my recollection I have never had a Gyro without dill. So I have to vote YES on Dill.

Sometimes I think I must be the only person in the world who can't stand beer. Even the smell of beer will make me feel slightly nauseous.

I never learned metric so I can't comprehend it at all.

Thanks for the Monday Daily, Rich.

Late to the party today but better late than never, I guess.  My time seems to slip away from me some days.  It’s morning somewhere in the Daily - ite world 😉

I guess I jinxed myself talking about Marley improving.  Have a call into the vet 😔

It is still morning here in Arizona and the beautiful card is very much appreciated.

I am very sorry that Marley needs the vet today. Hopefully just a very minor set back.

  16. Todays meal, drink and wine all look very appealing. This may make me go to Total Wine first then to Panda Express for take out. I have never been able to see well enough to thread a needle so I just enjoy looking at the hard working Quilter's finished products.

Have never been to Barcelona and enjoying the photos very much.

I have not read the dailies for the past couple of days so now I am going back to find out what I have missed.
