  1. We also purchased the annual Allianz plan. They did ask ages and departure date of our first trip but nothing of detail beyond that other than personal information. We had booked 3 cruises during the insured period but then we booked additional cruises that were over the maximum cancellation benefit. We'll only be covered up to 75% for those but were OK with that. The cost was $715 total.
  2. It's been years since I bought one but weren't the refills buy 5 and get one free or something like that? One bartender started opening all the beers until I stopped him. He made me promise not take them back to my cabin... Me: Wut!!! Him: I can't sell them to you closed if you're taking them back to your cabin. Me: Um...no, um...I would never ever do that...Thanks. Heads back to cabin.
  3. Haven't tried the new menus yet but everything looks good except Lobster Mac N Cheese. The closest I get to mixing anything with lobster is a baked stuffed. Can't imagine dunking it in cheese. As a Nor' Easterner it seems sacrilege.
  4. Last time we had a guaranty cabin scanning the barcode produced '-GTY' and not a cabin number until 18 days out. By then we were notified of the assignment so your experiences may vary.
  5. Doesn't Celebrity offer a 'Cruise Only' option now? Suites are AI but I thought they made the change after too many complaints.
  6. It is identified by category on the SetSail Pass. The suites categories are Sea, Sky, and Star.
  7. We enjoy Luminae but the specialties are a nice change of pace and we need to use that OBC for something. Murano is our go to after having mixed experiences in Tuscan. We've never done La Petite Chef but I'll miss the Porch on Equinox. Tried it for the first time 2 weeks ago on Reflection and really liked it.
  8. It boggles the mind the disparity in response times but it is the government so there's that.
  9. Based on advice here on CC, we sent our renewal in on March 13th, paid for expedited service (because we have a May cruise) and received them yesterday.
  10. Thanks, we're on Equinox in May so I'm hoping.
  11. We were on Reflection 2 weeks ago and pre-cruise we were warned here on CC that Celebrity no longer carries Zacapa. They were using Bumbu Rum at the World Class which caught a bad rap from some CC posters. To be honest I wasn't disappointed.
  12. We just bought an annual policy through Allianz but we previously used https://www.insuremytrip.com/. They're a broker with multiple options through multiple companies.
  13. We're not close to being rich but we try to do 4 - 5 cruises a year in suites. We try to keep in the $5K to $7k ball park but I can see why some not so rich would go $20k for a suite for a special occasion. Especially if they only cruise once or twice a year.
  14. Make sure you have a couple beach towels in the cabin. We were in 8317 and were told by the cabin attendant that some mornings we'll wake to soot on the furniture. It wasn't every morning and he was always on top of it but he also kept us supplied with beach towels in case we wanted to sit out there before he got to it. It was never a real problem.
  15. My wife and I ordered affogatos from Cafe Al Bacio which are no longer on their menu. After that one time every time we passed by the girls would wave and call out 'affogato' like carnival hawkers. Needless to say the sucked us in for a few more.
  16. We had it on our March 5th Reflection sailing.
  17. They also had a beer selection on Reflection and ran the Macallan and Jack Daniels tastings.
  18. Who would sit through an art auction just for the champagne? Umm...not anymore though.
  19. You can still do it the old fashioned way. We still check-in on the website and print out the boarding passes. I stopped uploading my photo because they kept taking another at the pier. My wife has never uploaded a photo. Sometimes a paper boarding pass is quicker than the guy who can't get the app open on his phone. Do what's easier for you.
  20. From the Department of Inconsistently Inconsistent, we took a family cruise about 10 years ago with our son and daughter and their spouses. My DIL called Royal to match her status with my son's and they immediately demoted him. My daughter didn't call to match her husband so he sailed gold and she sailed Diamond without the requisite points. The topper was when we found out my daughter had been taking her hubby to the DL all week. We purposely avoided the DL because my son and his wife couldn't go. We wondered why they were always late for dinner. 🙄🤣
  21. Nice review. We made our bones on Royal but have been splitting between Royal and Celebrity for a few years now. While I'm a fan of Playmakers, the pub, and Schooner Bar, Celebrity is a nice change of pace, better service, and better food. We also think the Retreat is a better value than Royal's Suite Class.
  22. Two lawsuits actually but do you have a source for the outcomes?
