  1. Hello group, I have a toddler question for the Zaandam. My grandson is 2 years old I know that there is no kids program ( for any age group ) on this ship. But I see a kid zone on the deck plan. Is that correct ? Anybody know if this door is unlocked and available ? If we need to request access ? Any suggestions / ideas on this and other toddler tales is appreciated. We sail in may 27th
  2. Montrealer here. It all depends on the weather. But A) don't rent a car.... You will regret it B) I would get an unlimited transit pass for the day. ( Cost $11 / per) You can get this at the metro. If the bus station has locker. Then go drop off the bags. If sunny, Agree, go to top of Mount Royal and thenyou can walk all the way back down to old port. This will take through downtown Agree with the museum. You can also go to botanical garden You will want to come back Enjoy
  3. I am from Canada and pre covid, would cruise twice per year. That is when I decided to have a usd bank account and USD credit card . I just booked Hal and they offered I better rate then current bank rate, so I did book cad and also prepaid my tips in cad
  4. A few comments I wish they had more options to be able to leave your stuff when you are going to be using the pool or hot tub for extensive periods. One should not be reserving chairs for hours, even if they are in the pool . Also, I usually look at empty chairs, wait around 20 min, if I see no activity, if somebody is near, I ask if they have seen anybody using the chair. If they have not seen anybody, I move stuff to a nearby chair. I have always been able to use it for 1/2 hrs. When I am done, move stuff back . 30 cruises, NEVER had an issue
  5. This is why I self disembark. One less thing to worry about.
  6. Interesting ethics question. Really not sure what I would do. I guess it all depends on the line. If too long, would not wait. If somebody complains, say you were in the washroom :)) . I can see both sides being ok
  7. You can estimate your check-in time. But as most people fly in. You have no control. Ifor me, I start to relax when I am at the terminal. I know that my "amazing race" is almost over. And this is the only time I know for sure that I won't make the ship. To quote captain Jared " you can take your shoulders down, you are on vacation "
  8. Agreed. It took me about 15 cruises before we even stepped inside a specialty restaurant. We enjoyed the main dining room and the experience of new people. Was on adventure in June and wanted to treat my boyfriend to nice steak ( was his birthday and his 1st cruise) I decided chops for lunch was a good price point . Agree on supply and demand. As long as people pay,. Also, it is marketing. They want people to buy the package. So individual items need to be priced high so the package becomes a good deal
  9. We were on June 4 th . RCI adventure of seas. We could not go to Bermuda because of a storm RCI requested a refund for all pax. And it was granted. Have Cunard do the same. Good luck
  10. Signal Hill was the site of St. John’s harbour defences from the 17th century to the Second World War and where Guglielmo Marconi received the world’s first transatlantic wireless signal in 1901.
  11. I love romeinlimo. And they are in almost all Italian ports. Here is what I do. Write one email for your " in a perfect world scenario". Including all that you want. And then send the same mail ( BCC works great) to all the companies. And see what they say
  12. Arrive can must be done once per entry into the country. This is not cruise specific. No need to enter a new request for moving within the country
  13. I will look into those. Thanks
  14. I get sick at 10 feet waves. Have meant with hurricane Ian in the mid Atlantic in 2017. On a small azamara ship I know how your wife feels. Ginger pills are my go-to I have them if I need them They don't make you drowsy. Never cruise without them Look at my signature 30 cruises ( including a few transatlantic)
  15. Arrivecan is required everytime you enter the country ( sea, air or ground). But not for every port. So only once on the way out. But it will be required on the way back from Iceland as they leave Canada. Hope this clarifies .
  16. My thought is that it is a gift from Royal to us. I would think that royal would take care of the tip and nothing is required. I also tip $1 per drink. But think it as an extra.
  17. As I am from Canada. One cruise was west coast, all mexico. So I got pesos. ( Better exchange then USD at the time). I tipped the Mexican cliff diver with pesos and got a dirty look. I played dump and said " sorry, I am from Canada and Do not have usd. Wait till I get home and argue with my bank that they gave me the wrong currency for your country". He took it. I understand they prefer usd. But to look down on the currency of their own country. Seriously
  18. I am really enjoying this virtual cruise. Most of your ports I have been to at one time or another, so nice trip down memory lane . Can't wait for you to get to Greenland as that one is still on the bucket list :))
  19. My 1st cruise ever, I was 25 and it was on HAL. Loved it. But I have never been a night owl. My 2nd cruise, i took my 9 year old daughter. There was a kids club only 6 girls in her group. She was a VIP all week. Everybody loved her. 3rd cruise, i took her on carnival. She wanted to go back to HAL. She had gotten a taste of the finer thinks in live. :))
  20. These 2 parts are 180 degrees apart. Talk to a TA that will ask what you like and guide you .
  21. I did them twice, pre covid. I would do them again without hesitation. Would not even look at anybody else. Glad to hear the are still around
