  1. No, I don’t. I meant to direct that comment to the OP. I do have a strong DNA match in Canada, but he hasn’t answered my messages.
  2. Iirc, our pool party was not at or near the end of the cruise. It’s perhaps itinerary-driven.
  3. I think/hope the only cruises actually called tulip cruises are during the two months Keukenhof is open. I agonized over when it would be best, to see the tulips. Little did I know Keukenhof has it all planned out so tulips are always in beautiful abundance! Fun review, May. Is it possible we’re related?
  4. I feel like we’ll have a 25% chance of a clear view of totality. All the stops will be new to us, so it really floats my boat, to have this booked. We just drive 900 miles to Little Rock and 900 miles home again, and we’re rewarded by clear skies and a gorgeous venue. We might be lucky again, in 2026. Or we both might be six feet under by then. Time will tell. And a big fat YES to you, @OnTheJourney , for starting this thread! And btw, after I drove 900 miles to reach totality, how silly was I, not to understand what @babs711 meant.
  5. Good thinking! I have my eye on one other Viking, but it’s offered multiple times and we can’t figure out when to book it. I hope we’ll get another FV offer in the mail, that will work for it.
  6. Every once in a while we break our rule about not leaving home in Nov., March and April, but only for very special reasons. In March next year, we’re cruising to Mardi Gras! And in Nov., last year, we took our first-cruise-after-Crystal-returned cruise. The thing for you is, Iceland and Greenland tend to be better to visit, in the summer! A dilemma, and what a good one.
  7. Actually, that’s the easy part. We love to get out of hot Florida in the summer!
  8. Thx for clarifying. That would shock me, if they did that!
  9. It doesn’t surprise me about another promo, OneSixtyToOne, but BluebonnetTexan, I’m still a tad mind-boggled that the comment in the letter is totally ignored. I also just got a six month final payment date, using FV424. And my cruise is in August of 2026!
  10. And you know what? I was so excited to look for this cruise, I forgot how they show up, with the reverse itinerary being grouped with the one in the other direction. Does that make any sense? I hope so, and I am so excited b/c I also booked it! Next stop, convincing Mr B this is a good idea.
  11. Pardon me for being dense. I can’t find this cruise! Can you give me a hint by posting the ship?
  12. That letter only goes to customers who have a cruise already booked. Congrats to you for getting them to ignore their own extremely restrictive offer.
  13. Have a great trip, Roland4!
  14. Speaking of cabins with issues, can someone post which PVs have the door to balcony instead of the sliding glass door? From previous comments, evidently guests are frequently surprised, and often disappointed, with this type of cabin. Is it exactly the same on every VO ship? I believe this has been discussed before but this might be a nice place to add this info.
  15. One thing is predictable. Anything could happen, but in the past, Viking has very politely maintained each special offer until the last calendar day of the month. Sometimes they get extended, sometimes not. Availability in each stateroom category is also very helpfully displayed.
  16. Bon voyage! My first Viking was Octantis.
  17. It never dawned on me to tell Viking it was our 55th anniversary. Coincidentally, it was embarkation day AND my 55th cruise overall! And our first dinner did not meet expectations. I thought, darn it! Mr B doesn’t give second chances for first impressions. Very luckily, this time he did! Great servers in The Restaurant and chefs were cooking for us perfectly. I hope we will be equally as happy in December. Sorry to hijack this thread!
  18. OneSixtyToOne, my understanding is, you certainly had to ask them to edit your final payment date for your 2025, but it exactly follows their rules. You booked another cruise, making you eligible for the six month final on a later cruise.
  19. When that letter arrives, it emphatically states the final payment date. Perhaps you are correct that a simple request will be met with a positive response. I used my Dec. 2024 booking to get a six month final for a July 2025 cruise but then we decided not to deposit that booking (that’s twice I’ve stupidly failed to make a $25 pp deposit) and the agent told me I’d be losing the benefit of the six month final, by not depositing that booking. For some dumb reason, I failed to comprehend what she meant! Probably b/c that seems sooo ridiculous. I think the joke’s on me.
  20. One of my favorite quotes from my father! 🥰
  21. Great point! Although I don’t recall getting that OBC when I made an onboard booking while on Jupiter last June.
  22. I personally would wait, while keeping on eye on availability frequently. The $1000 offer you’re talking about requires full payment very early, iirc, while booking when you’re onboard should allow you a six month final payment date. But if paying in full, far in advance, doesn’t bother you, it’s probably smart to get the $1000. That $1000 offer probably won’t be the last one you get.
