  1. (11 a.m. EDT) -- Celebrity Cruises will pull Summit from operation for a two-week emergency dry dock after ongoing problems with the ship's propulsion system continue to plague the ship. Celebrity previously shortened the March 27 sailing of Summit by one day to work on the same issue.

"Celebrity Cruises is canceling one sailing on Summit to work on an electrical issue on one of the ship's propulsion systems," said Owen Torres of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines' Global Corporate Communications division. RCCL is the parent company of Celebrity Cruises. Torres also confirmed the sailing following the canceled cruise will be shortened.

The affected sailings are the April 1 cruise, which has been completely canceled, and the April 15 sailing, which has been shortened to a four-night cruise departing San Juan, Puerto Rico on April 18. The ship is expected to return to its regular sailing schedule on April 22.

Passengers on the canceled sailing will receive a full refund, as well as a 25 percent credit of the cruise fare paid for a future cruise and $200 per person to cover any flight change fees.

Cruisers on the shortened sailing will receive a direct refund for three nights, as well as on onboard credit worth the value of one night of the cruise fare paid, plus up to $200 per person for airfare change fees and/or hotel costs in San Juan.

  3. We want on the Excellence which is the tour around the island with lunch and beach time. It is appox. 6 hrs and was a ball. Just so you know the boat is different than the Lobster tour. The Excellence is a 3 level power cat that does around 40 to 50 miles a hr. and is about a 1.5 million boat . You get to see the whole island and have nothing but fun. We are going back this Dec on the Reflection and doing the same tour again! I can send you photos ! Bob

  4. The stingray location will always be busy so that is why we do a private trip. We only had 10 people on a really nice cat. and plenty of room for the other boats. If you ckeck into videos on you tube you will see the ship tour boats really overloaded. It cost us $135 per couple and had a great time. Can send you photos of our trip !

  5. You cannot check with the cruise line until you are at ship. Your TA should be on top of it and if it is not there then you will have to deal with them when you get back. The on board credit will be posted to your account and if it is a meal it will be in your cabin in letter form when you arrive. Usually TA are pretty good about things like that ! Have a great cruise

  6. Equinox gets to port at 10am during our July cruise. I want to book an excursion for stingray and snorkeling but I'm not sure what Is the realistic time we will make it off the ship. Is 11:15 too soon. Thanks,

    Ela

We were there in Dec on Reflection and booked a private stingray tour at 11:30. They handed out tender tickets starting at 7:30 in the wine bar. I was 3 in line and had not problem ! They usually use the islander tender boats which hold 200 and they had 4 that day. They only problem with using cruise tour it will be like a cattle call ! Don't worry about being back in time, that is not a problem !

  7. Is there a way to find out who the cruise director will be on the Reflection in July and August 2017?

In general, on a given ship, are staff listed somewhere, we can look up?

They just switched this past month ! They have a women cruise director currently so they probably wont make another change for a least 4 to 6 months . You can search the boards for a list but it is for current staffs at that time ! I was on in Dec and it was a young guy and his name was Maaten Breuls. They also switched captains a couple of weeks ago which is usually a 4 month break !

  8. I took my first Celebrity cruise last Dec. and loved everyday of it. I was on the Reflection and it was everything we had herd. As you see we have been on different cruise lines. Celebrity is a different class than Carnival as you would find out. The only difference is that the Summit is a older ship as compared th the Reflection but it is wll kept and has a lot going for it !

  9. I booked while on board and got the $300 on board credit plus the $200 discount on the cruise. I was in the same book as you and shopped around when I got back. I found a TA that was better than all the other deals and got another perk plus a dinner. In watching the cruise since it has gone up $1000 since Dec.! It does go up and down so I watch it just in case since I got buened last year! Bob

  10. We did a private tour in Dec and had a great time. There was only 8 of us on a cat. as to 60 to 80 people on some of the ship tour boats. In observing some of the other boats the rear of the boat was riding low in the rear. We did the rays plus a stop near a reef for a hr plus star fish diving. They served drinks and fruit all for $130 for the two of us for 5 hrs. They had out tender tickets on the ship at 7:30 a.m. so I got there at 7 to get tickets and we were the first group off ! If they use the Celebrity tenders in Grand Caymen they hold 200 people and they have 4 boats.

  11. Ok, I'm a guy that is well organized and plan down to the small details, military vet.

I'm scheduled to cruise on the Reflection 12/8/17, should I start to look at another cruise ?

We are on the same cruise. I cannot recall a ship being in dry dock at this time of year just before the holidays which is peak time for them and just really starting the season in the So Carb !
